malinga's yorkers more consistent and never miss, while waqar's run up to the yorker and swing in the air was too classy to watch.waqar edges it for me slightly

It depends about what sort of opposition he faces.

Malinga's yorkers would be more useful in the modern era, with T20s becoming popular everywhere. If you talk about the 20th century then Waqar would win my vote because he bowled yorkers and earned wicket in Tests and a period where ODIs didnt have too high scores.

One more thing, Malinga can bowl yorkers much more accurately, but Waqar's yorkers were more lethal IMO but I dont think he had the accuracy Malinga has.

Would have loved to see Waqar's yorkers in modern times where batsmen have actually developed good techniques to counter-attack. Have seen batsmen batting behind the team, with low bat-lift, etc

This is why you cannot compare players from deferent era.

I agree that batsmen are better equipped to handle yorkers now , but who knows waqar would have developed a even more lethal one to counter that .

    +1

Waqar was lethal also because he used to reverse swing the ball like no other and those yorkers assisted with banana swing were simply unplayable even by the best of the best :lara

Waqar operated at 90-95 whilst Malinga at best reaches 90, Waqar got test players out with those lightening yorkers which is a lot harder to do when a batsman is just defending however in ODI cricket batsman is more prone to fall to the yorker due the aggressive mindset.

What a rubbish comparison. This is such an insult to compare a legend of the game to Malinga the fatso, he is unfit, the kiwi batsmen who got out had no clue because of his action and they were too scared of his hair and belly.

    Waqar's yorkers were unbelievable.

Please check their Test status. Malinga should be compared to Brett Lee or someone, an odi specialist, Waqar was magnificent in both formats whereas Malinga is only dominant in T20s.

the amount of banana swing Waqar had on his yorkers was unbelievable Malinga is good but Waqar's yorkers were in a league of his own.

Nothing comes close to Waqar's yorkers. Pace+Reverse swing hardly gave batsman any room to play the yorker.

waqar's yorkers came from much higher at a faster speed. that needs to be taken into account.

malinga has a low trajectory and this is why he get's an insane amount of dip, especially on his slower balls.

i have to say it's hard to compare the two. malinga is one of the greatest LOI of this generation, regardless, but waqar is a legend.

    Malinga's yorker can dip

    Shoaib's yorker could kill

Waqar Younis vs Malinga- inswinging yorkers

    Waqar easily.

Malinga's terribly ugly action doesn't help either. He'd be better off as a baseball pitcher than a bowler.

    Not even a comparison!!

Waqar's yorker had dip swing, pace everything...

If you want to see definition of a true yorker see Waqar's yorker to Great Brian Lara on flat Rawalpindi pitch.....

Shoaib Akhtar's yorkers were also deadly coz you were afraid that he could knock over both your toe and head...

And Wasim's yorkers were also very good

MAlinga is not even close to Wasim, waqar or shoaib in terms of yorkers

Though I don't dislike comparison threads, those who make it should be a little cautious and sensible before picking the personalities. Here in this thread an ATG fast bowler is being compared to a chucker (Sorry guys, I will never approve that guy's ugly action. Why ICC is allowing it is beyond me)

Has to be one of the most ridiculous thread on forum=9 for a while. Malinga's own mother won't pick him over Waqar in a comparison like this.

Can you look around this world and believe in the goodness of the god who rules it?
