Shabdeg is a stew of meat and turnips, slow cooked all night, hence the name. It is considered the quintessential Kashmiri delicacy in Pakistan, so much so that one of Nawaz Sharifs nicknames is actually turnip.

I guess it isnt as authentic as we thought, if you havent heard of it.

I doubt it, it is widely considered to have arrived with the settlers from the valley proper.

I guess it will regain its popularity in Kashmir once we unite.

I hope so. We do have dishes of turnips and lamb meat here called "Gogji maaz". I will ask some elders about the shabdeg. Maybe its an old traditional name or something which i havent heard. I doubt it though, i would have surely heard of it.

Nope. Only once a week we make it here (in Kerala). But in TN and Karnataka, i guess they consume it more.

Along with all these breakfast, a cup of tea is mandatory. Tea is the most common beverage here.

Experts don't need a timetable. But i need one otherwise i will forget to make the batter on the previous day. Not to mention my whole schedule for a day will also get ruined.

And these appam, dosa etc are generally made for breakfast only. Lunch and dinner are usually rice and chapathi with some curries and non veg fries.

Yesterday I had chicken mince for once at Uni. Made that in a pasta sauce and ate with pasta, cheese etc.

Also later boiled brown rice added vegetables, and made a tuno mayo filling and ate it with that.

Unless you are staying with your mom or have a maid, you should cook yourself. That will be healthy and less expensive too.

I swallowed my pride and finally admitted that I was wrong about something to my wife. Didn't want to give her the upper hand though. Don't know if that counts.

I would lose half of my posts if there were no auto-correct.

Had chicken qalia last night with tomatoes and yoghurt. Hadn't even heard of chicken qalia tbh, I just had some frozen food that my mum/grandma made and sent a picture to my mum asking what it was lol. Delicious.

It was Pi(e) Day today, so there were plenty of homemade pies at work. I sampled pecan, apple, strawberry, blueberry, pumpkin, Concord grape, cheese, mince, rhubarb, and Key Lime.

It may sound like a lot, but I had just a bite of each. It must've added up to one consolidated slice, maybe two. Nevertheless, one is consumed by guilt and self-loathing on such occasions, and such is the case right now.

In such instances I usually just indulge in everything else forbidden to make the whole episode much more worthwhile and make proper use of the guilt and self loathing.

Yes, really put the Cheat in Cheat Day, so to speak. Logistics stand in the way of that approach. Also the guilt and self-loathing would then be stratospheric, requiring time in a monastery for penance befitting such bacchanalian debauchery.

Ah, so when you said you indulged in everything else forbidden, you were limiting yourself to food items. My bad, as the kids say these days.
