Favourite country to watch cricket in?

From a broadcast point of view so we can compare all the countries. Ofcourse there are differences in venues in all counties as well but let's generalise counties for the sake of the argument.

For me it is New Zealand. Really enjoy the broadcast, the lush green outfields you get, the grass patterns, the contrast in color between the white 30 yard circle outline and the grass. I enjoy the closeness of the spectators to the ground and how they can enjoy the game of cricket while chilling on the grassy banks and how many times you can almost hear them appreciate and applause when a wicket falls or boundary is hit. I enjoy the commentary as well for some reason and folks like Ian Smith and Gould bring an interesting, enthusiastic perspective.

After NZ it is probably England and Australia.

    How about you guys?

New Zealand is a really good country to watch it in LIVE, as in actually being there. The mountainous backdrop is beautiful, however IMO the atmosphere is too "chill" and laid back, with most spectators just chilling on the grass instead of looking engaged in the stands, and the stadiums don't look as inviting and exciting as the ones in Australia, SAF and India.

That's why for me it's Australia and India, because while they may not have the beautiful backdrops of NZ, they have the atmosphere, and their stadiums feel a bit more, idk how to say it, "real" I guess? As in they look like big colosseums where 2 teams will do battle whereas NZ stadiums by comparison look like a place where you will have a pillow fight.

England... haven't watched a game hosted in England in a long time, but it was pretty good, again, lacking atmosphere and that intensity in the air at times. For me South Africa is also up there. Crowd goes wild, and their stadiums are massive with a good backdrop as well. Part of the reason why I consider the 2007 t20 world cup to be one of the best hosted cricket world tournaments ever.

So if I was to rank the best countries to watch cricket in:

    1) Australia
    2) South Africa
    3) India
    4) NZ
    5) England / Pakistan
    6) Bangla / WI

Absolutely dislike the potatoes that they use for covering cricket in Bangladesh. UAE is dull because no crowd. Sri Lanka has one stadium Galle that's a good spectacle but Colombo and Hambantota are horrendous. Some grounds in West Indies are shambolic. England used to be my favorite but not anymore. Although when we play ODI's there, the background horns really sound nice.

Australia for me, the crowd applauds good cricket no matter who the opposition. The commentating team and broadcasting is easily the best in world when it comes to cricket.

It was eerie in the recent WT20 final against Windies when Johnson Charles, Samuels and Russell were smoking those sixes. It was so silent that you could hear the pyros sounding off before the fireworks at every boundary

On TV, I enjoy watching anywhere.

In person, New Zealand's tiny Test grounds by a million miles. Wellington's Basin Reserve is just lovely, an exquisite day on the grass.

In general, stadia anywhere are not nice places to sit in the sun for 7 hours. Brisbane's Gabba is the worst of all - just hot and concretey.

I've only watched Tests live in India, Eng and NZ. Favourite is easaily NZ for me. The Basin Reserve is the best ground I've ever been too... better than Lord's, or anything in India, it just has a wonderful atmosphere and sitting on the hill at the Basin watching a day of test cricket is something every cricket fan should experience.

England easily. I grew up watching Pakistan in the 90s touring England, seeing Wasim and Waqar tearing through batting lineup for fun. Its the home of cricket. Nobody tops the Sky broadcasting team who are fair and balanced, a far cry from the jingoistic claptrap we hear from Channel 9 or Star. Or if you want, a bit of Aggers, Boycott and Blofeld on TMS to accompany you through the day.

You have sporting pitches for the most part which you don't get with most places in Asia and Australia these days. The ground dimensions are ideal unlike in NZ. Decent sized Test crowds unlike UAE where you're lucky if two men and their dogs turn up.

During India's last tour of England, in first match when England were batting ball was changed by umpires and the replacement ball started reversing, and England lost couple of wickets, bumble started crying that ball shouldn't have been changed.

Outside Bangladesh, previously I liked SAF most - beautiful grounds with fantastic wickets & passionate crowd. After that it was AUS & UK. I am more of a cricket lover than anything else, therefore quality of cricket (wicket) is a prime factor for me - in that regard AUS is losing it's position quickly. Oblate, I like cricket in IND lot - wickets are suited the format they are playing - LO wickets are full of runs while Test match wickets produce exciting results & the stands are almost always full.

The worst place to watch cricket - unfortunately Pakistan. Worst possible wicket, they used to play the game in seasons/periods when after 3 PM you start to panic when the game 'll be called off "Roshni kami ke woajai", you never know when the match is going to start next morning for fog and the crowd MashAllah - I have seen/heard even in UK about crowd disturbance when home team is losing or in tight corner - Pakistan, Alhamdulliah is the only country where home team lost of failed to win few matches, because of crowd disturbance, when their team was dominating.

Saying Donkeys, hate for IPL clearly shows they are biased. If you don't like something that's ok don't have to bring it up in every discussion they have.

Mike Artherton, Nasir Hossien, Nick Night, David Lloyd and Michael Holding is the best team of commentators, they are simply brilliant, fair and give great insight

Ian Botham is the only one from Sky, I'm not a huge fan of other then that the others are brilliant

God forbid anybody criticises India. Lol at people still bringing up donkeys remark. Nasser was rightly criticising Indian fielding during 2011 tour. Only Botham hates IPL.

I'm sure there's a few biased commentators but fact is for all the crying about English bias, nobody are harsher on England when they lose than English pundits. Exhibit A:

Botham is biased and a grumpy commie too.

But others are very good and sky is comfortably the best cricket telecast channel out there.

Only thing bad about Australia is their commies suck up too much to India for the extra $$$$ moola. I remember Jadeja threw a full toss and then that guy they call "tubby" was like "good delivery, he's a good bowler, Jadeja", like wth, be honest at least.

Criticising a team that look clueless in the field and using a pretty accurate simile for what their fielding looks like isnt bias...

Nasser is also very grumpy about IPL or at least used to be. I remember reading his column ( in daily mail I think). The column was supposed to be about the batting heroic of Samuels who had hit a magnificent century the previous day but majority of the words were used to bash players who had skipped test series against England to play in IPL.

Also, the viewpoint of Sky commentators during KP saga was highly biased towards ECB.

The article being referenced for those interested : http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cri...ter-graft.html

Not bashing the players for leaving, but more so complimenting Samuels for staying and not following the money as far as I see it.

The article should have concentrated more on Samuels fantastic innings, instead he was taking a dig at IPL. Nas is my favourite commentator but it is evident from this article that he has a chip on his shoulder about IPL.

This happens in IPL too when home team is nearing defeat.
