Wow, the legend is back with his usual mesmerizing bowling, now it's even more polished, even more dangerous.

Sussex should feel extremely lucky and honored because the best of the best.... the fizz.... has agreed to play for their team.

Mustafiz has established that he is one of the better LOI bowlers around. Arguable one of the best bowlers in the death overs.

Though, in longer formats I am not sure how he will perform without much skillset when it comes to swinging the ball. We need a good attack in tests, Fizz and Taskin would be nice

Statistically speaking yes. He can reverse swing the old ball in Tests, and on a gripping turning 5th day pitch he will be tough to deal with, unless teams just shut shop completely, but then again that sort of stonewalling seldom works. But it will be interesting to see if he can swing the red ball in places like England (not touring anytime soon) and NZ (touring there this summer).

I have sky high hopes for him.

He and and Sunny are not under the Committee...they are working independently. Taskin, according to his coach, is not really working on his action anyways, working more on his pace.

Sunny only played 4 DPL matches, choosing to work on fixing his action instead. Taskin however played all 15 matches in the DPL, and then went on 2 vacations (one right after the WT20) and another one for Eid. Not sure how much remedial work he has actually done.

. Its T20s where Fizz is absolutely lethal. In almost all the T20 matches he has played, his team has been able to defend any score over 160, be it BPL, IPL or national side

Have noticed that. Also being involved in like a hundred commercial, a bit owing to his looks.

He should follow someone like Shakib who really worked hard to get where he is. And fixing action is a start. If he can't fix his action, he won't be picked in BPL and definitely not for national team unless he becomes a half decent batsman all of a sudden.

Need to fix his action ASAP.

He's just 20 years old. Almost all fast bowlers struggle with injuries. Nothing to be overly concerned about yet. If he's 25 and has only played 50 ODIs and 10 Tests, then we can start worrying.

    Missing England Series Is Hard

    http://www.thedailystar.net/sports/c...s-hard-1274041

For the second time in two months, a group of journalists waited for Mustafizur Rahman in the VIP area of the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport yesterday.

In June this year, the pacer was given what was probably his biggest ever reception in an airport with ministers, his family members and the media converging on him upon his return to Dhaka following the Indian Premier League. Garlanded with flowers, a smiling Mustafizur was brimming with confidence as he spoke to the media.

Two months on, the setting was a lot different. Under heavy security, Mustafizur arrived with his arm in a cast to a bouquet of flowers from the Bangladesh Cricket Board. He is not going through the best of times at the moment, but he still managed a smile.

Longing to go back home after such a long time abroad, he was understandably in a hurry. However, he had just enough time to spend a couple of minutes with the media.

“Alhamdulillah, I am doing well now. After the operation, the doctor showed me a few short exercises to do and also [BCB Sports physician] Debashish [Chowdhury] da has received instructions from the doctor with regards to the rehab. I will began rehab in four weeks' time,” he added.

That depends on how long Mustafizur plays and if the batsmen are eventually able to figure him out. Starc definitely will. Mustafizur can if he stays fit.

I feel for the kid, one problem after the other in such a short span of time. Too many things on his mind it would seem.

For now, he just needs to take his mind off cricket. I am pretty sure he played off-late more out of commitment than passion. He will eventually get adjusted to the workload, both physical and mental.

LOL. Do I need to remind u that It's limited overs Cricket. In this format most of the time a batsman gets out while playing an attacking shot rather than playing a defensive shot.

None of the wickets were given to him. Both of the batters tried to go after him and he fooled him with his deceptive slower deliveries.

Latham was chasing a wide ball at the death which would have been wide if he left it.

Guptill blindly slogging to get on top of Bangladesh.

Guptil wasn't blindly Slogging that ball. He was trying to put pressure on the best bowler of the opposition team.

But sadly he got owned by fizz and lost his wicket.

If u look at Bangla's batting today in the 2nd half of the innings u will see that 4 out of 5 of their batters got out while they were trying to play either pool or hook shot. But that doesn't necessarily mean that Kiwi bowler were just lucky and Bangla lost those wickets because they were trying to play too aggressively.

Look if you are going have this preconceived notion that this guy is just a lucky bowler and nothing special then you will always try to find a reason to downplay him

He is rated not because of his cutters only. He was rated because he could bowl good lines. He could bowl the yorker exceptionally well at a young age. He is smart when it comes to mixing up his overs.

And this was just his comeback match. If fit he would be able to ad 10ks and that will be decisive.

Saw a bit of him today. Fact is that he doesn't have the sand paper pitch (top scrubbed off) from sub continent to assist his beautifully disguised cutters. Was pretty much up and down. I can bet that the shot which Latham flicked for six would have had a leading edge in subcontinent. His pace was also down from what i saw him last.

He is an intelligent bowler and I am sure would find ways to get wickets on these pitches. His performance today was not bad at all, considering NZ scored 341

All of his wickets have come from "batsmen looking to hit out". Only thing is, no one has so far been able to hit him for long without getting out.

In Tests, he has actually gotten his wickets as a conventional seamer.

I wonder if Fizz has played enough cricket before being rushed back to international cricket. Has played just one competitive match before today. Hasnt bowled enough overs at all. Wonder why BD Management didnt allow him to play in the ongoing National Cricket league.

Lack of overs was visible in his bowling as well. Would be surprised if he can last the tour as he doesn't look fit enough yet.

I don't know why people here keep talking about Mustafizur being "figured" out as if he's just a one trick pony like Ajantha Mendis. I remember his test debut against Saffers on a placid pitch where he took a 4fr. He took 3 wickets in 4 balls, all top order batsmen, including Amla and QDK and he didn't bowl a SINGLE slow ball or a cutter. His seam presentation was impeccable and he was bowling consistently in 140s. Surprised the hell out of me.

When I say he didn't bowl a single cutter, I mean throughout the innings, not just the wickets he took.

Why are Bangla bros being all sensitive about the kid who has just barely started? It's not like he has picked up 300 wickets or won the WC or anything., so don't treat him like a deity who is above criticism

Couldn't have said it better myself. Excellent post. So far he has bowled against some of the best LOI batsmen on some placid Bangla phattas but still owned them like a real pro.

Clearly this kid has some serious talent. The only thing that's concerning abut this kid is his fragile physique.

Hmm, our Bangla bros sometimes get a bit defensive when talking about him. But there's no doubt that fizz is an excellent bowler and certainly has all the qualities to go down as one of the greatest LOI fast bowler of all time.

Don't post imaginary stats brother Aman. The number of international matches the mighty fizz has played so far is 25.

Rabada is better In tests(we still don't how will fizz do in test since he hasn't played that many tests)

But in LOIs Rabada is nowhere near fizz. It's a fact.

This same bloke got 50 wickets In just 23 limited overs international matches at an average of 13.85 and strike rate of 16.

Come back to this thread if u can find someone who has done something remotely similar to fizz in recent years

Fizz is currently the best fast bowler in world cricket along with Starc and he's destined to go down as one of the greatest fast bowlers in the history of cricket

In the first test and first innings of Current test he was quite quick. Between 135-143 barring the cutters.

2nd innings he has been slower. Bowling between 130-137.

watched the ongoing test, he was bowling with an average pace in the 120ks, effort ball is around 130. Luckily got a few wickets after batsmen commited mistakes, otherwise nothing special.

Athar Ali khan the Bengali commentator never got tired of flattering him, he was like "oh it's reverse swing from the fizz", then the replay shows it's a 120k cutter, and he made a fool of himself like always..

Mustafiz is not the same as before.

absolutely wrong information. He never bowled even a 140k ball. his effort balls were around 130 and average pace in the 120s.

it seems he is coming back to his rhythm slowly, lots of BD experts think he is lately after coming back from injury struggling to his mind although physio don't see anything wrong anymore, but that thinking of injury still disturbing him in some cases if you follow his bowling lately, he seems little bit hesitate to go for utmost pace, or bowl freely like he used to do before the surgery. But today's performance indicating that he is getting there.
