    What a horrible thread title.

If it was sarcasm, then yes, by all means it makes sense.

Another one of those overhyped by PPers cricketer, in reality have no international-level quality.

Another match-winning century chasing against NZ A, this one at well over a run a ball. Looks to have re-discovered some rich form with the bat, which should keep Sarfraz on his toes as he's already a better gloveman.

Even in Sarfaraz’s presence, he can play a role at 6. However, as per reports, either Iftikhar or Agha Salman will be picked in place of Asif Ali for the odi squad. Still no place for Rizwan.

His problem is that he reads spin off the pitch rather than out of the hand. It's very difficult to survive against quality spin like that.

He's not even 10% of Asif Ali.

You want to drop our only hitter after Fakhar, LMAO.

Asif Ali is not good enough to bat at 6 in ODIs. Lacks batting intelligence, and he will be a liability in situations where he is unable to hit due to his lack of strike rotating ability.

I think Rizwan deserves a shot, so does Hussain Talat, and also Hasan Mohsin in a year or two.

An intelligent person will pick Rizwan only to play him at #4. If #4 slot is not available then Rizwan should not be picked at all. People shouting for Rizwan to be played at 6 has no cricket knowledge.
Right now #4 slot is booked by Hafeez and Haris. Rizwan may have to wait a little while.

He is the biggest dud against half decent spin bowling that the cricketing world has ever seen. Not to mention his lack of powerhitting against pace being the petite man he is. If he is selected against team like India, they will murder him with spin bowling.

I hope he becomes a solid number 6, but there are some obvious problems. There is also a good reason he only averages 28 in LA cricket. I can only hope that the current coaching setup can teach him how to play himself into an innings, rotate the strike, etc.

Either this, or we should conclude that A-Team squads and performances are irrelevant. @MMHS , Sarfaraz is still safe of course.

He is in sublime form and at 26, he is at the peak of his batting career. He should definitely be recalled for the limited overs squad.

Sarfraz has not been producing results with the bat in limited overs cricket lately, nevertheless he still remains the first choice for now. But Rizwan deserves his place in 15 member Pakistan limited over squad, purely on his batting credentials.

Agreed I'm not for a second implying that he will be able to transfer anywhere near these stats into internationals.

My point is Sarfraz post CT has been a poor captain and is a just a passenger in the team. He doesn't want to take much responsibility with the bat when he is needed at 4/5 but instead chooses to hide down at 7 despite being an incompetent hitter.

I think the first step is let him play 1-2 ODIs every series and see how he performs with the limited opportunities he gets. Mickey needs to enforce squad rotation, especially with the captain if he continues with this kind of output.

I don't like Rizwan's batting, but under current circumstances where Sarfraz has been a tailender with the bat, Riz certainly deserves a go.

Sarfraz needs to sit out in at least some of the matches, if Mickey has any sense.

He is Captain, so should be safe. I don't think backing Sarfraz (Captain) is not wrong, but they made a blunder to make a WK Captain for 3 formats, then backed it up without appointing a designated deputy. Now, unless Sarfraz is seriously injured, it's impossible to drop/rest him.

This. He is putting up eye watering numbers. And all the not-outs are the sign of someone who wants to see the job through to the finish, unlike some other middle order bats we have been coddling for too long. Plus he's an amazing fielder. He can play alongside Sarfraz, no problem, drop any one one of Malik or Hafeez instead.

Rizwan's inclusion might propell Sarfraz to get off his butt and work extra hard on his game. Personally speaking, I believe Sarfraz has a higher ceiling than Rizwan, who was downright terrible in his last outing in international cricket. But if Rizwan really has improved his game, he should definitely be inducted into the team to make use of his good form.

The thread title is a joke though

England pick Foakes, Bairstow and Butler all in same team, all 3 can keep and also its competition for places. PCB dont select Rizwan as they probably feel sarfrazs feelings will get hurt and will put to much pressure on him to perform.

Sarfaraz is good player and has served pakistan well but he is not imran khan or misba. who could be selected just for captaincy alon. its right time he is drafted in. sarfarz can play WC but after that he needs to go at least in T20 and odi. so pcb should plan now don't wast him.
further at the moment we are not performing in odi. he can easily come in. we did this with misba and afridi last time as well let them play WC at the cost of team success. so don't repeat same mistake thrice.

It is also in the interest of sarfarz as well. we all ways claim that pcb does unjustice to players. but players also do not read sitution well.
imagine we lose badly at WC which chances are high. than sarfaraz will have to go but at the cast of his reputation. but if he agrees to sacrifice he can bow out with grace.

I do not know which matches you have been watching but Sarfraz has been performing this season since Asia cup. You do not expect a wicketkeeper to score in every match. Many current world wicket keepers who have been scoring more consistently do not play every match as a wicketkeeper and are not burden with captaincy in three formats. Sarfraz has also returned to prime form in keeping - why would you even consider replacing him?

further at the moment we are not performing in odi. he can easily come in. we did this with misba and afridi last time as well let them play WC at the cost of team success. so don't repeat same mistake thrice.

I always maintained he should not be playing T20s this will further help his Test and ODI batting..

Lol Tests where his keeping is as good as any and so is his batting average if you compare with current regular keepers (give and take 2 runs).

Hes not worth his place in side on merit, let alone as captain. His two pathetic shots in 1st test vs New zealand are one of the contributing reasons we didnt get a big lead in 1st inns and also lost chasing 2nd inns.

Sorry but one good performance vs Australia doesnt make the guy an autopick in the side, his performances in last 2 years have been poor and hes clearly become complacent.

But if Rizwan really has improved his game, he should definitely be inducted into the team to make use of his good form.

The thread title is a joke though
Do you even know what "higher ceiling" means? Sarfraz is 5 years older than Rizwan and Rizwan has a superior First Class and List A record than Sarfraz.

Rizwan's potential ceiling is undoubtedly higher than Sarfraz'. Rizwan has obviously improved since his time in the international side (which was almost 2 years ago) and he looks a superior batsman to Sarfraz.

Rizwan should be drafted into the side to provide competition for Sarfraz and force them to fight for the Wicketkeeper slot.

He has earned his chances after consistent performances in A team but Inzi already said before no backup wicket keeper would be selected as it would pressurize sarfraz.

Famous quote for Inzimam - "Competition breeds excellence".

Competition for Sarfraz will enable him to perform to a higher standard and remaining in his comfort zone will only keep him at the low level he is at!

His inclusion into the side wouldn't necessarily mean Sarfraz goes. Rizwan has shown that he's a very capable fielder outside of keeping too. They can both play

Can today be the day that Rizwan showcases his talent with the bat and gets a 100?

It will make things interesting, would Sarfraz come back into team , my guess
Is he would and they would probably drop a batsman or all rounder to accommodate two wicket keepers in that case.

Excellent keeping today, that catch on the leg side of Hendricks was top notch.

Him playing at no 4 with recent avg of more than 100 in list A shows he can be a very important batsman for Pakistan now after putting in two years of hard work in domestic and with A team.

Agreed, but you cant deny he kept really well.

Also how much worse can he do than Sarfaraz in the last year or so. Rizwan is good enough to play at 4 down or 5 down, he was misused early in his career batting him too down the order while he has always been a middle order player.

Also I believe he must have improved as averaging 100+ against some international bowlers in A team is not an easy task.
