    Learning Urdu

Growing up I always spoke my native tongue or English, but I didn't speak Urdu, going back to Pakistan soon and I will be visiting Islamabad, so I'd like to learn Urdu, if possible Pakistani Urdu, I hear that people are getting Urdu confused with Hindi, if anything I'd just learn Urdu. Any ideas on where to start? Thanks

If you are starting from scratch maybe get your hands on one of those qaidas with basic sentence structures and common words. You can get them at literally any Pakistani bookstore or even order online.

    Also, Hum TV.

I am a very good Urdu speaker..always use words like jaalim, jindagi, jindabad which are too sophisticated for non urdu speakers.

None of those are urdu words. In Urdu we use 'Z' and not 'J'

I speak Urdu pretty well but I can't read it

Can read little words since I can read Arabic but that's about it

Does cricket survive off of it's money or does it survive for it's money?

Use the internet, ie youtube videos. That way you can get a direct translation between words.

    http://learnurdulanguage.com/urdureadingwriting.html

I know this website helps in learning how to write urdu but look at the lessons. Look at the english words and then the urdu words. Should help.
