Apparently Sohail was rested to give a youngster like Usman Khan chances; But the latter hasn't even played a single game so far and Tanvir has played all of them

it was so unfair to not selected Sohail Khan in the hindsight, and instead selected Tanvir who have been a failure in this series with bat, bowl and fielding

He just hit 22 off 6 balls against Iftikhar Ahmed, a dolly off-spinner. Sohail even smashed Lyon in Australia. I don't think he can hit out against quality pacers. However he has the ability to become a hitter. Needs some work on his batting.

nah he did smash the pacers in England, can be a solid all rounder in the CT at least, don't know how long he can go for after that though

he has already shown the ability to hit good bowling attacks, whether the Australians on a flat track or NZ bowlers on a green mamba. his ability of hitting will be vital for us in limited overs teams.

Sohail Khan is one guy, I really regret that was not developed by PCB and brought on at early age. When he first came, he was fast, Aqib convert him into to medium pacer, rather than let him developed at fast bowler. Than he was brought into national team very late, since he had no ******...Now at age 35, he has fitness issues, but still may be helpful for CT, who knows...We really messed up a very good potential bowler, who could have serve for 10+ years. He has the right attitude and brain, he always had that Pathan temperament and instinct, which was hallmark of our bowlers!!

He's a great T20 player, carried Karachi Dolphins bowling to the domestic T20 final year after year but the out of sorts Sami was always more focused on within the Karachi bowling unit.

Around 2008-2009 he set the record for most wickets in a first class season but the emergence of the Amir kept Sohail out. He got a test again Sri Lanka where 600 plus was scored in the first innings and 700 plus in the next. Younis scored a triple, and there were two more doubles and another century by kamran in the game too. He was over bowled and got injured and lost his pace. In 2011 he got another one off test, on a dead Zimbabwe wicket where he bowled admirably but was under bowled especially in the 2nd innings where he got 6 overs.

He worked with Rashid Latif playing for Port Qasim, and became possibly the best exponent of outswing in the country. He made his comeback in a world cup opener against India and picked up a 5 wicket haul. This only happens in people's fantasies. Got the rampaging Abd out against South Africa to turn the game for us at a crucial juncture. Got Finch out early in the quarter to give us a great start. Got injured as fast bowlers do after the world cup and the short memories of Pakistan fans helped most of us forget about him.

On his comeback to the test team he came in and picked up another 5 wicket haul to bowl out England cheaply and we went on to get a big first innings lead, which we of course squandered and then collapsed on the final day. Even then he batted bravely and almost took Pakistan close to a draw with only 12 overs left in the game.

The very next game he took another 5 wicket haul to bowl England out for a modest total and we went on to get a massive first innings lead and win the test but everyone forgot about Sohail with Younis and Yasir's performance.

He showed his batting ability against New Zealand when our whole top order collapsed with a 40 odd which brought us slightly back into a game we were completely out off, and then along with Amir and Rahat got NZ out without conceding a big lead. Later against Australia he showed his batting ability with a great fifty and looked good for a hundred only to get run out after a bad call by Azhar. He was also our best bowler in the game on a completely flat deck with the best figures amongst our bowlers.

Also turns out being the top wicket-taker in the psl with a Karachi team that lost its first 3 games and usually didn't have many runs to work with considering players like Gayle ate up dots balls on vacation. Still didn't get picked for the t20 squad.

He's top heavy and stiff, he can't bowl a 3rd or 4th spell properly. Don't play him in tests, play him in T20 where he's also a solid lower order hitter, smashed a first baller for 6 in the psl during a tense chase, he can hit from the word go. He has the knack of getting 5 wicket hauls which none of our current bowlers apart from Hasan seem to have. 5 wicket hauls are the mark of great Pakistani bowlers like Fazal, Imran, Wasim, Waqar, Akhtar, and even Asif. Sohail has this, he's just old, he needs to be used smartly and for T20s.

The people who can plead his case on ptv sports don't do so because of Rashid Latif's close affiliation to both him and Younis Khan. Rashid just hints at the injustice but doesn't say anything further and the message gets lost with Nauman Niaz saying idiotic things like aap kaina kya cha rahe hain and not expanding on the point further and making everything into a joke.

Think he should defo play champions trophy. Will add depth to batting if he bats at 8 or 9. I wouldn't bat him higher than 8 though. Bowling wise I think he is good enough in white ball cricket but shouldn't play test matches. Him opening the bowling with amir will be interesting in the champions trophy as sohail generally swings the ball away from the right hander whereas amir swings it in to the right hander.

Wouldn't really call him an allrounder but he's an excellent bowler for Pak. Should've only been playing LOI's instead of Tests where he'll break down easily. He's a good right-arm bowler that can provide balance in our bowling attack and it's just his lusty blows down the order that can extend our batting lineup to play modern ODI cricket.

I think barring injury, Amir and Hasan are likely to be the first two pacers in the champions trophy for us.

The third spot is potentially available, but currently Junaid Khan is the firm favourite and likely to keep his place. His contenders based on the Pakistan cup seem to be Sohail Khan and Amir Yamin. Frankly I would take either over Junaid Khan as I feel they are both underrated bowlers and ofcourse offer far more with the bat.

Goes without saying that Sohail is a better bowler while Yamin is the better batsman, however Sohail is more suited to the lower order role that will be required.

If he passes the fitness test, he should definitely start against India on the 4th of June along with Hassan Ali.

I'm seriously worried about Amir. As each game passes by, he looks like a bowler playing on past reputation and the nostalgia associated with him. He has also been extremely poor at the death, bowling opposite to his field set match after match.

    Sohail khan: The all-rounder!

Sohail Khan is an asset why are we wasting him?? He is a good 1st change bowler who can reverse swing and seam on friendly wickets and a better power hitter than Umar Akmal... He can easily provide us with quick fire power at the end of the innings..

He must replace Junaid Khan or Wahab Riaz for the Champions Trophy.

With Amad Butt out of form plus having developed technical bad habits in his bowling he is now down the ladder. No high performance centre means that he would be lucky to resolve his technical issues of bowling by hit and trial methods.

Sohail must open the bowling in England.

I am beginning to think he can be a useful cog in our ODI and T20i teams because of his recent progress as a batsman. Fitness is his bane though. If a fast bowler loses 10-15kph of speed in his 3rd or 4th spell, there is something definitely wrong with it. Even back in 2011 Zimbabwe series, Waqar Younis pointed out that he needs to raise his fitness levels but 6 years down the line, he is still very unfit.

Currently he might become a liability if he can not bowl over 130 during the death overs. International batsmen will love feeding on those pies. If he can rectify that, we have a very good LOI cricketer and one proper bowler who can use the new ball.

Sohail Khan is one of the best late order hitters in Pakistan and probably deserves on that basis alone, this is how bad our late order batting is. Most of the 300 + scores in ODI cup have been mostly due to top order batsmen (except Malik).

Unfortunate guy, lost his golden years to Cheema & Tanvir Ahmed & Sohail Tanvir of all people .... He was genuinely quick in 2008-09, a good user of new ball & an effective death bowler; at 6'4", an ideal modern day fast medium bowler. His improvement in batting at this age indicates that had he been persisted with, could have been a genuine world class bowling all-rounder at No. 8, at lest in LO cricket. And, being in national set-up, I am sure his fitness would have been much better now. Guy is a beast of power & strength, probably the strongest cricketer in PAK, but too old now. T20 may be, but not for ODI beyond CT & definitely not for Test. Instead of JK or Wahab, Inzi can select him for CT & drop him for good after that tournament.

Given his ability to hit big and bowl well in England, I would want him in the team. PCB should include him in the squad even if they've decided to discard him because he's been bloody good in the UK recently. After the Champions Trophy, they can throw him away wherever they want to, but he deserves to be there in England.

However, his fitness is going to be a big liability given the number of duds we already have in the field.

politics will always haunt Pak cricket, a deserving guy like Sohail is left out due to non cricketing reasons after becoming the top wicket taker of PSL, which is like a direct ticket to national limited overs team.
Even Sami made a come back after the last PSL.
Sohail would have been an ideal player for us with both bat and ball, but the curse of politics is too strong. Even a guy like Inzi who is a religious guy, participates in such events to isolate a deserving player.
I just hope we get rid of this management and selectors as soon as possible,
