Which is the most difficult bowling pair to face in their home conditions?

Bowling attacks always hunt in pairs. There are many top bowlers in the world but it makes doubly difficult when you are being attacked by world class bowlers from both ends and there is literally no breathing space for you. The task becomes incredibly difficult when those bowlers are in their home conditions where they will be performing at their peak potency.

Which pair do you think is the most difficult to negotiate in their home conditions? Rate them in terms of difficulty of facing them. Strictly talking about test cricket here.

    Starc & Hazlewood in Australia.
    Broad & Anderson in England.
Steyn & Philander in South Africa.
Boult & Southee in New Zealand.
    Ashwin & Jadeja in India.
    Amir & Yasir in UAE.
Herath & Perrera in Sri Lanka.
    Shakib & Miraz in Bangladesh.

Steyn & Philander without any doubt.

Ashwin and Jadeja, whenever India order a rank turner from Ramu's Pitches.

Generally though, it is Steyn and Philander. However, the Aussies will disagree.

Ashwin, Jadeja I think in India atm. Steyn and Philander are a better pair in general but SA lose too many tests at home for my liking, plus they have other good bowlers like Rabada. While Jadeja and Ashwin dominate in India, while they're third best spinner, Mishra isn't really up to the par of the other two.

I'm not sure though some of those are in pairs. Amir and Yasir don't really compliment each other, Yasir especially sort of goes on his own and pulls something out of the bag.

Admittedly it was difficult for Pakistan since generally Yasir operates alone or with Babar. But Babar in close to retirement while Asghar hasn't made his debut yet. So I just went with two highest rated Pak bowlers.

Mishraji is no longer the 3rd spinner, I highly doubt he would be picked for the Oz series

I give it to Ashwin & Jadeja.

Steyn/Philander is probably the only pair that isn't HTB. For Asian teams, they are most difficult to face. However they have lost to Australia at home. While I can't recall Ash/Jaddu losing a match in India. Although they haven't played the only team that could have beaten them

Mehedi and Shakib is a very underrated combination, definitely not the best but can compete with Ashwin and Jadeja in the future.

They have nothing over Rao Iftikhar and Rana Naveed. Probably the greatest bowling duo EVER.

Include Anwar and Rahat in the above and we possibly have the best 4 pronged pace attack to grace Mankind.

    On a serious note

Amir hasn't played in UAE long enough to be deadly there (2 Test matches old).. his highest is like 3 wickets for a few runs there.

Wahab should be in this instead of Amir, he's bowled a few fiery spells and has a 5 wicket haul too, not to mention MOM in the second test match vs England in UAE

I wouldn't call Shakib as Mehedi's partner. It is Mustafizur without any doubt and whenever they will play together, the batting team has a lot to worry about.

Starc & Hazlewood in Australia? Nope, SA beat us regularly at home now and Starc is still not consistent in tests.

Broad & Anderson in England. Really good at home, 2nd toughest still I'd say.

Steyn & Philander in South Africa. No, because Steyn has fractured his shoulder for the 3rd time and that's it, he won't be back. Rabiso & Philander? Watch this space in 12 months if Kagiso keeps it up, could be #1.

Ashwin & Jadeja in India. Yep, these two. Just clinically, grindingly, ruthlessly effective at what they do and as a pair perfect for their roles and conditions.

How can people mention Starc & Josh with a straight face? They're mediocre as a pair.

Even Pak batsmen, plus tailenders took them apart! Only Josh is useful, but not enough to cause major collapses.

It has to be Steyn/Philander and Ash/Jadu.

When I was a kid, I was a huge fan of Vikram Rathore and Dodda Ganesh. Used to watch Ranji highlights on TV,

Ganesh used to make stumps go cartwheel. Once he knocked out 2 stumps. It was a beautiful sight.
