The pitch is greener than my grass. This will be over pretty soon. What's the lowest BAN total in an innings? because it's in trouble.

lol do New Zealand really need to prepare green mambas to beat Bangladesh?

Not sure if serious, but I'll bite. I'm not being unsupportive, just being honest.
The reason they'll get blown away is
1. their batsman won't be able to tackle the swing.
2. their fast bowlers can't bowl or control swing.
They are facing a team who are used to doing 1 and 2 fairly well.

NZ should've picked Henry or someone with some pace to carry out the role of an enforcer in this attack. Right now Boult bowling mid-130s, Southee just about 130 and de Grandhomme 120 kph.

If we can get 300 on this greentop, I'll be pleased. The ball is bouncing well. Tailor made wicket for Taskin who is a seam bowler. Kiwis bowling is more swing oriented, at leadt with Boult and Southee.

If our pacers can adjust to the Wellington wind, they'll bowl well here; batting was never a big issue, but we need to catch well & be careful about collapse.

No - that'll make him losing both. Game has changed lot from 90s, till when even Athers or Tilakratne could have been useful in ODI - up to 250 per score matches, you can play couple of solid players who can stabilize the innings, can play shots when set.
Now, only PCB appoints Azhar Ali as Captain & picks Asad to bat at 4. I doubt Momin'll ever play an ODI for us again - his List A stats are even poorer. We are trying to prepare 2 different set of teams for Test & LOs, despite very limited player pool.

If he focuses on Test only, he has about 15 years of Test career & as a specialist bat, he shouldn't miss many Test due to injury - about 7-8 Tests/Year, should take him to near 140 Tests; at present, he is scoring around 85 runs/Test; if I take a discount in both, he needs around 8.5K runs in about 115 Tests (75/Test), to reach around 10K. I think, if he is serious about it; he has a realistic chance; just like Azhar Ali has the chance to reach 10K.
Azhar won't reach there, because he is wasting his time for things that are not made for him, Momin might just do - he has better mentors to advice & better head to listen to that.

Bangladesh doing well here. Pakistan would've been all out.
Pakistan is that kid who never studies for his exams but is surprised when he fails.
-
12th January 2017, 02:07 #73
Not been able to watch the series because of exams.
I watched a bit of the LoIs and we lost them because we played backyard cricket. Got nothing to do with conditions. We would lose even if we played in Bangladesh
Our test team looks more positive with mominul. But trust me Bangladesh will still lose because how often have we collapsed in such situations.
It's very depressing to see the 0-6 rout in shorter formats. What is more depressing is the spectators taking better catches than our players
-
12th January 2017, 02:09 #74

-
12th January 2017, 02:12 #76
Tamim is so much better in test cricket than he's in LOIs.
Looks like he's a test natural despite his aggressive nature.
-
12th January 2017, 03:16 #77
He is not a test natural. He is a lazy batsman who only believes in flashy drives and zero intent to rotate the strike using deft hands. Someone like Williamson isn't as talented as Tamim say in LoIs but scores bucket loads of runs because he is a smart operator who knows what the situation demands.
Tbh our entire culture is such that we don't believe in greatness through hard work. Soumya and Taskin themselves are labelled as superstars when they haven't achieved Nothing whilst mominul has achieved more than these two combined but hardly has any following or endorsement.

Well done Bangladesh. 119/2 is as good as any other side can get to on such a green pitch. Need to ensure they get to 300 and they will be in the game.
