And, for a sports athlete, this excuse doesn't hold true, as they must train extra because of their genes.
As a medical professional, I very well understand that no two people have the same metabolism, but that is not an excuse. If you have a slower metabolism, you have to work extra hard. As I said, Umar simply does not have the character. He is a lost cause and we should move on.

I can understand his metabolism is a little slow but he is at the end of the day a professional sportsman. If a guy doing a desk job told me something like that I would still have some sympathy, but this is his bread and butter. If his metabolism is slow he should take help from a dietician rather than live off BBQ. I see this problem directly related to education. Also, when trying to lose weight portions matter a lot. I wonder what his portions are.

“Even if we only drink water, it increases our weight,” he said. “Only our brother Adnan has a biological system which does not show his heavy diet on his body,” he further added.

While sharing his recent diet, the junior Akmal said that he has been on a BBQ diet for the last two days. “Along with that I am only taking salads and water but even this shows on my body,” Akmal said.

Umar Akmal was only player who was not selected for upcoming West Indies tour because of lack of fitness.

Meanwhile, elder brother Kamran has made a comeback in both the T20 and ODI sides after impressive showings in the Pakistan Super League.

Thank you. Minor improvement. Hafeez should be rested in one of the warm up matches and Umar should be sent at number 4. If he performs than He should play at 4 if Hafeez fails in couple of matches. Umar should not be picked for number 5 or 6 position. He has never played a match winning innings at those positions barring his 2nd Odi and his innings vs Afghanistan. He doesn't have finisher temperament whether its setting up a total or chasing. His stats at number 5 & 6 are misleading when it comes to team results. Mickey must realise this.

Mickey can rest him in warm up match. Umar should replace hafeez provided :

    1. He scores in warm up match

    2. Hafeez fails in first two CT matches

Team management can than drop hafeez.
