A great future when he started and we at PakPassion are proud to have played a role in highlighting him to Aaqib but then upto Irfan to take this forward...or not.

It is disappointing to lose such a talented individual to fixing/malpractices.
-

A slight setback, but not a fall.
Its sad that his reputation would be affected only for a crime that every player has done over the years. Not being bothered to report an approach. But then again an example was suppose to be made.

None of this is really true. Any player tribunal is well within rights to ask 'did you not report it, because you wanted to do it at some stage later'
The most innocent explanation is that he is a special kind of stupid despite going through so many anti corruption education measures.
So, as a special kind of stupid, six months seems about right. Followed by no national selection.

I was not aware he got an IPL contract when Pakistani players were banned.
Is that correct @MenInG?

Could someone tell me how the response was from most PP'ers at the time Irfan was spotted?
Did everyone go on board of the hype Train?

He wasn't expected to play Internationals again, he will be back for the PSL 3 so it's no loss for the big man.

Problem was at his height he started too late and didnt have the nutrition and facilities to work on his strength and conditioning.
If pakistan had a proper system which is similar to the nba system in america where they can identify a talent at a young age and work on him to get the best out of his talent.
It was obvious to any tom, dick and harry that he would eventually break down as his body couldnt handle the rigourous international schedule and the amount of energy one puts forth when playing for your country.
It was only a matter of time when this would happen. Playing him in test cricket was the most absurd decision made by the pct management. And it back fired hard.
Bascially ending his career.

[REPORTS] Mohammad Irfan Sr. set for comeback to T20 squad
News reports showing that Pakistan has opted for experience in both squads with irfan, wahab and amir leading the bowling attack for the t20 format. Whilst, Kamran Akmal is under consideration for the wk spot.
For tests, imran khan sr, rahat ali, abbas, shaheen and musa are there.

Rubbish bowler who should never play again for Pakistan. Poor fitness and cannot hold a bat to save his life...
-
21st October 2019, 09:02 #19
Surely you are kidding me, he is only 37 years old and still has about 5-6 years left in him. Misbah has recieved positive feedback from.his domestic coaches that he has been able to walk from the bench to the bowling crease without assistance.
Which tells the team management that Irfan is capable of being lethal on the bouncy Aussie pitches and leading Pak to a world t20 title next year.

Please don’t let this happen for the sake of Pakistan cricket. I’ve invested so much time watching this team hoping one day their might be change. If these TTF’s come back to the team than get ready for the biggest humiliation in PCT history. It’s so disappointing seeing India giving youngsters chances left right and centre while we keep in rinse and repeating the same mistakes with the same useless players.

A meltdown here without knowing the details and understanding the context is always fun to read.
First, it's T20s and 4 overs a match. Second, we don't know how his form and fitness is. Waqar Younis and domestic coaches know that better.
Third, if Waqar thinks he's the right guy, then he's the right guy to play in the T20s. Wait for that assessment.
Our keyboard warriors, without knowing any actual details, love to throw a good tantrum and think they're better than Waqar Younis.

Waqar during the National t20 comp did say that Irfan is still good, so this report is very likely to be true. I now hate Misbah and wish he was never captain of Pakistan. In fact I blame Salman Butt, if he didn't do that spot fixing, Misbah wouldn't have become captain and we wouldn't be in this mess.

After the t20 world cup 2016, Pakistan selected a younger side and it worked, they got rid of the TTFs like Irfan, Rahat, Wahab, Akmal, Shehzad. And npow we are going back to them. Why does Misbah have an agenda against young players.

Misbah's fans wants to see masters league, because the league is not very popular/consistent they want to turn Pakistan team to a Veteran team. Win or Loss doesn't matter as long their favorites oldies are there they are happy.
I highly doubt even die hard Indian fans also want to see Pakistan that way because no point to play against a team when the results are there even before the match start.

Misbah on Irfan's comeback...
“For the T20Is, Mohammad Irfan has been rewarded for the form he has shown recently. Based on horses for courses and his form, the Australian conditions will present Irfan with the opportunity to excel. This selection has also been made while looking at next year’s ICC T20 World Cup, which will be played in Australia. If we can successfully manage his workload, then he can be a valuable asset for us in next global event.

I do not know of his current bowling form, but his inclusion in the playing 11 will have an immediate impact on fielding. One cannot hide a fielder in modern limited overs cricket.
Perhaps his fitness has improved!

Another of those scenarios where players are played, dropped, played, dropped and then brought back when there is a change of coach.
Is he fit enough? Especially given this whole focus on fitness levels.

And Yes, a lot of careers got destroyed due to Mickey Arthur's likes and dislikes. Imran Khan Sr is a prime example, Arthur discarded him just on the basis that he was unhappy with his basis completely ignoring the fact his role is of a work horse in test cricket and also IK Sr had decent stats in the test matches he played.

That being said, I am not completely against his selection. He is still good enough for 4 overs, he was pretty decent in 2015 too IIRC.

What are you on about? Imran Khan Sr is responsible for our third test victory against Sri Lanka in 2015 where he got a 5 wicket haul with the second new ball and was bowling at 136-138 km/hr whereas the likes of Rahat Ali and Ehsan Adil had slowed down in their subsequent spells.
