Yasir Shah's five-wicket haul leads Pakistan to stunning first-ever Test series win in the Caribbean

Toss: West Indies won the toss, Jason Holder chose to field first.

    Teams

West Indies: KC Brathwaite, KOA Powell, SO Hetmyer, SD Hope, VA Singh, SO Dowrich†, RL Chase, JO Holder*, D Bishoo, AS Joseph, ST Gabriel

Pakistan: Azhar Ali, Shan Masood, Babar Azam, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq*, Asad Shafiq, Sarfraz Ahmed†, Mohammad Amir, Hasan Ali, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Abbas

Day 5 began with Brathwaite and Hetmyer at the crease, with both displaying contrasting style. The former looked to be on the defensive while the latter tried to play his shots. It was Brathwaite who fell first, ironically trying to cut a short ball from Yasir but only managing to find Hasan at point. Hetmyer and Hope both looked to be on the positive with the former hitting Yasir for a few boundaries en route to his highest Test score (so far). It wasn't quite enough though, as he was bowled for 25. Amir bowled a full-length delivery which swung back in to the left-hander, he went for the big drive and was bowled. Chase was the new man in and looked relatively comfortable whilst Hope looked to build his innings. However, his innings came to an end at 17 as Hasan got his maiden Test wicket with an in-swinging yorker that trapped him LBW. West Indies went to the break at 73/4 with Pakistan in control.

Soon after the resumption, Pakistan got the fifth wicket as Singh tried to defend one from Yasir and inside-edged it for Babar to take an excellent catch. Chase was the only one who really looked comfortable and unflustered out there. Dowrich was very slow to start and was soon dismissed by Yasir, caught at short-leg - the batsman reviewed and replays showed it may not have clipped the edge but the third umpire ruled the evidence inconclusive and stayed with the on-field decision. Chase was smart in his shot selection, mixing attack with defence where appropriate and lofting Yasir for a six as he got to another fifty. Holder gave him able support as the partnership slowly built up and surpassed fifty while Misbah tried giving a couple of overs to Shafiq and Azhar as the Tea break was taken at 146/6.

There was a missed chance right after the break as Chase drove one back to Hasan but he couldn't hold on to the return catch. Two overs later, the bowler had the breakthrough as he got Holder LBW with a reverse-swinging full-toss as the batsman played around it and missed. Chase was immovable at the crease while Bishoo defended solidly as another partnership began to form. The leg-spinner deflected all the attacks that Pakistan could muster as the batsmen occupied valuable time at the crease. It was Abbas who finally got him after he faced 45 balls with a sharp bouncer that the batsman top-edged for an easy catch. Joseph came to the crease with approximately 20 overs still remaining. Hasan soon got another chance for a return catch off Chase but this time it was hit harder and again the bowler couldn't hang on, injuring himself slightly in the process. Chase entered the 90s but soon edged one behind off Abbas - however, he gained another lease of life as the bowler had overstepped. The tension built as the game entered the last hour of the match. Chase, in the meantime, got to another hundred with a fantastic on-drive for four. He buckled down and resumed the fight against the bowlers but it was Joseph who finally fell to Hasan, caught behind off a tantalising delivery outside off. Approximately nine overs were still remaining as Gabriel came to the crease. On his third delivery, there was a huge appeal for caught behind off Hasan but the umpires turned it down. Pakistan opted for the review and replays showed there may be a slight nick but the third umpire ruled it inconclusive and stuck with the on-field decision. Gabriel showcased his temperament with solid defence as the overs ticked by with Chase trying his best to farm strike as much as possible. Nothing worked for the Pakistan bowlers as the batsmen looked to be defending with ease as it went down to the last five overs. They survived three. Gabriel was on strike for the penultimate over. There was a big appeal on the fourth ball and he was given out caught behind, but reviewed straight away and replays showed it to be a good decision from the batsman, as he didn't edge the ball. The decision was accordingly, overturned. Realising that Chase would be on strike for the last over, Misbah packed all the fielders around the bat for the last ball of Yasir's over. He bowled one outside off and the batsman suddenly went after it, looking for the big shot, inside-edged it and shattered his own stumps, ending Pakistan's lack of Test series win in the Caribbean as a delirious Pakistan team celebrated the most epic of Test matches to bid farewell to Younis and Misbah.

    Summary: Pakistan win!

    Fall of wickets:

    2-22 (Brathwaite, 10.4 ov)
    3-47 (Hetmyer, 17.5 ov)
    4-66 (Hope, 29.6 ov)
    5-76 (Singh, 35.1 ov)
    6-93 (Dowrich, 43.2 ov)
    7-151 (Holder, 61.6 ov)
    8-181 (Bishoo, 76.4 ov)
    9-197 (Joseph, 88.2 ov)
    10-202 (Gabriel, 95.6 ov)

Also, the wicket was absolutely lifeless.
An atrocious wicket that have nothing to the bowlers.

Made scoring difficult but also made it impossible to take wickets...

Makes Pakistan's effort even more commendable...

At a time, when whole Pakistan is happy and celebrating, this guy has to find some inner peace by criticizing world's bona-fide match winning spinner.

    Just ignore him.

Roston Chase looks dejected, how can you lose a test match after playing such a magnificient knock ? He must be thinking why I put in so much effort to save a test match just to watch Gabriel spoiling it at the last ball of the second last over of the match.

    Thank you Gabriel.

Hasan was terrific. If he was named Wahab half the board would be going on about how he broke
the back of the Windies middle order with Hope and Holder's wickets. Could have gotten Chase too,
twice. As for Yasir, there were moments where he was off color, but he more than pulled his weight
this in match, as he has throughout the series. Couldn't have done it without his last 8 wickets, and
25 for the tourney. A perfect all weather battering ram he may not be, but he is certainly not ordinary.

Abbas seems to be slipping under the radar as well because he is not quick enough. Bowled beautifully today and would have been the hero if it wasn't for the no-ball. The bowling attack of Amir + Hasan + Abbas + Yasir + a fifth bowler looks more promising than the Rahat and Wahab rubbished we have dished out over the years.

Gabriel literally had a brainstorm and let his side down. He will rue that wild swing for a while yet; just needed to block the last ball and let Chase safely negotiate the final over

What a tense final day. No one was expecting Windies to drag this into the final over (well almost) after collapsing to 93/6 soon after lunch today. A valiant fightback by Chase and co.

Thanks, if that is what you feel. I hope to live up to your expectations in the future.

Chase 403 runs @ 100.75 with 2 hundreds and 2 fifties was also a strong contender for the Man of the series award (Remember it does not have to be from the winning team)

This has not been an easy series for batsmen from both sides. Nevertheless Yasir was as deserving if not more

Most of the credit goes to Hasan and Abbas today. Amir and Yasir were well below par, but those two bowled their heart out.
for me hassan outbowled aamir in this test..so may be he will be the best test pacer soon...hassan was the pick of the seamers today..

If he can increase his pace a bit more, he will be unplayable with the old ball. Bowled the perfect length for reverse-swing to maximize.

He was trundling harmlessly. It was infuriating to watch, along with Yasir's lack of variations and defensive line. The last half hour was madness, but Misbah and Younis had to sign off with the win, and Yasir had to deliver the key strike as he has done so many times over the last three years.

Amir has been mostly been disappointing in test matches since his return except for the first match in Jamaica.

I think there is an element of truth that he will give up test matches and be playing in the limited over format only. It wont be that much of a loss to be fair.

Sometimes Yasirs lack of variety is excruciating to watch. In the end the Gabriel wicket looked like the single variation he bowled the entire spell (slider). He needs to use his brain far better.

Yes. It was disappointing to see not a single googly/flipper against a number 11.

Its not helped when he first started back the fielders didn't help with the dropped catches, it affected his confidence.

Was at hospital with dad (9 hour shift)..
Kept checking the score at regular intervals at my dad's insistence.

Even asked someone to bring the charger from home...but switched off with 2.5 overs to go...said to dad it was a draw.

Got home late and switched on cricinfo, as soon as I walked in, and saw Chase's name only in the score card just above the commentary...knew it then that Gabriel was gone!

Having watched live in 2000 that run chase by Adams and also listened to SW, uneven commentary in my attic in 1988 (we were robbed then, even i could hear the nick behind of Dujon...lol), this was a sweet sweet moment as Bish would say!

well, you cant say that they were below par ,atleast not Yasir by any means.
it often happens in test cricket that you can bowl good spells with out any wickets but tbh he did pick a fiver so not much to complain.

Afridi batted for glory,Afridi batted for his fans,Afridi batted for Pepsi adds and Afridi got out.
