Maryam Nawaz rules out talks with govt, says 'grand or mini' dialogue have no value anymore

PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Friday asserted that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) would not enter into any kind of negotiations with the government amid calls for dialogue.

Taking to Twitter, Maryam said that the PML-N leadership backs PDM's decision to avoid holding talks with the government, adding that "mini or grand dialogues hold no importance".

"We will not give an NRO to this fake and puppet government, this is the nation's decision," Maryam maintained.

The development comes a day after Pakistan Muslim League-Functional secretary-general Muhammad Ali Durrani met PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, Durrani said that once a series of resignations begins, the move will be detrimental for democracy and the country in general.

Durrani said that the country's current situation demands a "grand dialogue" and that supremacy of the Constitution is a fundamental need for Pakistan.

The PML-F leader had said that if the government and the Opposition do not wish to hold talks, it further necessitates the need to hold a dialogue.

"Track II dialogue is the need of the hour," he said, adding: "These dialogues do not get exposed, their results do."

He said that whether it is the government or the Opposition, "the wiser people" among both do wish to hold a dialogue.

"Every thinking man knows that a conflict is not in the interest of Pakistan [...] we have not come here to antagonise anyone," Durrani said.

He went on to say that the party leadership wishes both the government and the Opposition to go to the parliament and hold talks.

"In this conflict, not only will the loser have lost, but the winner too will gain nothing."

"We are fully prepared for Track II dialogue," he added.

This. I don't understand why they keep barking this. Noone's willing to talk to them. Imran Khan is in a stronger position, he is the PM, holds all the card. Why on earth would he talk to them? These losers are the ones who are running around sneakily begging everyone they can.

Nawaz Sharif sent me to Israel, claims former JUI leader

Maulana Ajmal Qadri, a former Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leader, claimed on Thursday that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had sent him to Israel to hold talks with Tel Aviv officials.

“It was a kind of study tour,” Qadri told SAMAA TV’s Ali Haider on his show. He said he had met senior officials of the Israeli foreign ministry and cabinet members during his visit.

He, however, didn’t specify the year he visited Israel.

“The people of then foreign ministry wanted to know whether Pakistan could develop relations with Israel or not,” he said, adding that they wanted to know whether any such relationship with Israel would be in Pakistan’s favour.

“Actually, the trade affairs came under discussion the most because Pakistani textiles [brands] are very popular among Israelis,” the cleric said. He said he had told the Israeli officials that Pakistan can’t have any relationship with Israel until Tel Aviv gives Islamabad “assurances” about the fate of Palestine.

According to Qadri, he met the then PM Sharif twice after concluding his visit to Israel and he found him “very passionate” to develop a relationship with the Jewish state.

He, however, believed that Sharif had sent him to Israel after consulting “certain quarters”.

I told the prime minister twice that Pakistan’s parliament should be consulted or a national dialogue be held to take a decision in this regard.

“Mian sahib was very passionate. But the political situation made the affairs go to the background,” he said.

“There were other quarters with whom consultations were held and the decision was taken.”

Maryam in Sukkur: PM Imran Khan's 'only qualification is taabedaari'

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Saturday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan's "only qualification is taabedaari" (being servile).

Maryam was addressing a workers convention in Sukkur, during which she gave several rebuttals for PM Imran Khan's address in Chakwal earlier in the day.

"Imran Khan has only one qualification, which is to polish boots. He is only qualified for taabedaari," she said.

"PML-N would always side with the government, but this time, our workers refused to bow down in front of oppression," said Maryam, in a nod to the party's workers.

She claimed that if there is one name that rings out when it comes to Pakistan's development it is Nawaz Sharif's.

Maryam said that the country, in the hands of the incumbent government, "now that Nawaz Sharif is not in power", is mired in poverty, inflation and unemployment and "the people are searching for Nawaz Sharif".

"InshaAllah your Nawaz Sharif will come before you all and Pakistan's journey towards progress will resume where it left off."

She said that the "fake change" mantra and the "so-called tsunami" will now turn to "badnaami" (disrepute).

    'Who is the actual thief?'
Maryam, referring to Prime Minister Imran Khan's remarks whereby he had noted that Pakistan does not have a system of transition between governments said: "Imran Khan did not have the preparation needed to run a government but he was fully prepared to steal from the country and line his friends' pockets".

She asked whether he, during whose rule eggs cost Rs80 per dozen is a thief, or he during whose government eggs now cost Rs300.

"Is the one who brought you wheat at Rs35 a thief or he under whose watch it now costs Rs90?"

Maryam, similarly cited in Nawaz's favour, a Rs27bn BRT project versus a Rs127bn BRT project launched by the PTI government.

'No need to go to army, have power of the people'
Again referring to PM Imran Khan's Chakwal address where he said change cannot come at the push of a button, she asked "if the press of an RTS button can bring about a fake change, cannot two-and-a-half years bring about a real change?"

"The lies you fed to the people, are all being unravelled one after the other. God has made all clear before everyone," she said.

Maryam said on her way to Sukkur, she read that the prime minister had also remarked that the Opposition is "asking the army to kick the government out".

"Banish this notion from your mind that you are elected. You are not an elected representative of the people," she said to PM Imran Khan.

She said "the Opposition, the PDM, Nawaz Sharif, PML-N and Maryam Nawaz have no need to approach the army when they have the power of the people".

Maryam added: "We have no need to ask anything of anyone. You alone are enough to get yourself removed."

The PML-N vice president, speaking of PM Imran Khan's "container days", when he would refer to "the umpire's finger being raised any day (signalling the PML-N government's end)", said: "Do you think us to be like yourself? Remember this: Those who have the power of the people with them, never need to look to institutions (for support)."

She said a leader of the "stature of Nawaz Sharif" had already "dismissed Imran Khan" saying his fight is not with him.

"Forget competing against Nawaz Sharif, to compete with Maryam Nawaz you have to throw her in jail," she said.

"You have to throw her in NAB lockups, or have her voice muted to fight off her rallies," Maryam added, to chants of "Go Niazi, go Niazi."

    Assembly resignations
She said that she had received resignations "from all 160 MPAs in Punjab" and in the National Assembly "only a few" from senior parliamentarians are left.

Read more: Maryam on resignations received

Maryam also spoke of "mischief" under which two resignations of lawmakers had reached the assembly speaker after which they have been summoned to verify their legitimacy.

"The two are towering figures when it comes to loyalty," she said, naming Sajjad Awan and Murtaza Javed Abbasi.

She said they must "throw them in the speaker's face" and demand that he accept them.

Maryam said that PML-N workers are not like those from PTI, who had resigned during Nawaz Sharif's premiership, "and when they were called by the speaker to verify they have resigned, they said they had been forced by Imran Khan".

She said the premier would be "better advised to look to his own circle", as PTI lawmakers "know that Imran Khan is on his way out and not coming back".
The PML-N vice president said that in comparison, the PML-N workers know that if they were to leave, "they would not get votes elsewhere, as people vote for Nawaz and the party symbol, the tiger".

Maryam said "when elections take place again, PML-N will return with two-thirds majority".

"People know Imran Khan is going and Nawaz Sharif is returning. We have seen your preparedness and now you will see the people's preparedness. We will give you a proper send you off," she added.

Leaders of the 11-party opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Sunday gathered in Larkana on the occasion of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto's 13th death anniversary for another power show as part of its anti-government protests.

While addressing the rally, PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz once again hit out at the government over inflation and allegedly hiding behind the establishment, telling Prime Minister Imran Khan he was not fighting the PDM but the entire population of Pakistan.

"Your war is not with PDM but with the 220 million people of Pakistan whom you have struck like lightning," she said while addressing the premier, adding that the people had "won" this war.

Maryam said when PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari was unable to attend the PDM rally in Mardan, Prime Minister Imran was "jumping around with elation" believing there had been a rift within the opposition. She alleged he will say the same about today's rally which JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not attend.

Recalling that the prime minister had dismissed her and Bilawal as "kids", the PML-N leader said: "These kids are half your age but they are turning you around their little finger [and] have given you sleepless nights."

She alleged that whenever these "kids" called him out, Prime Minister Imran hid behind his "elders" and asked them to rescue him.

"These kids' biggest qualification is that the people of Pakistan are standing with them," she said, adding that the premier's alleged dream of creating a rift within the PDM "will never be fulfilled".

Maryam thanked the people of Sindh for their hospitality and Bilawal and his family members for welcoming her early in the morning at their residence in Naudero.

Earlier this month, Bilawal had directly contacted leaders of parties in the PDM to invite them to attend the rally at Garhi Khuda Bux in Larkana.

Maryam Nawaz arrived in the province a day earlier while a delegation from the Jam*iat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) is also participating in the rally.

Leaders of the PDM member parties were present on the stage at the rally venue, with a large crowd of supporters and PDM workers waving flags in the audience.

TV footage earlier showed large crowds going towards the mausoleum where Benazir is buried next to her father, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, to pay their respects.

    We have become one: Bilawal
In his address to the public meeting, Bilawal said the PPP leadership, from Zulfikar Ali Bhutto to Benazir, had sacrificed their lives but refused to compromise on their principles.

PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari addresses the rally. — DawnNewsTV
"Today we have to vow to fulfil Benazir Bhutto's promise and save Pakistan," he said, adding that the country envisioned by the PPP leaders was one where the Constitution ruled and everyone had equal rights.

He said due to the government's "anti-people" policies, millions of people were forced to live below the poverty line and people couldn't afford two meals a day, while youngsters were desperate to find jobs.

"The rulers neither see your poverty nor your unemployment nor the storm of inflation," the PPP leader said. "This puppet cannot provide bread and employment to people and says 'I won't leave anyone.'

"But now the people fed up of unemployment, poverty and inflation will not leave this puppet, oppressor and selected."

Bilawal said he could not accept the country in its current state as a democracy "where there is no freedom of speech, writing, doing rallies and protesting peacefully".

"Enough has happened. If this government is given more time they will wreck the country and we won't let it happen. These selected rulers will also be in the wastebasket of history like Musharraf and Gen Zia."

He said the PTI government had taken historic loans from international donors but the funds didn't cause any benefit to the common man.

"Now this game will end. The business of selected and selection will end," he said, adding that the provinces were not being given their due share under the National Finance Commission Award.

Bilawal said the PPP wanted the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor to succeed but only in a way that benefitted locals. "We don't desire a CPEC that only benefits the Papa John's [pizza owners]," he emphasised, in a reference to the controversy over CPEC Authority chairman retired Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa's family assets.

He said the PPP had linked its foundations to the PDM's objectives, adding: "We have become one. We are on one page and one stage and we will make these puppets run away with your support."

Bilawal reiterated that if Prime Minister Imran refused to resign by January 31, the opposition would stage a long march to Islamabad.

While addressing the rally virtually, former president and PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari said today was a day of 'red salute', adding that while Benazir had passed away on this day, she had left the message for her party to keep fighting for the country.

Former president Asif Ali Zardari addresses the gathering virtually. — DawnNewsTV
He said the PTI government was unable to run the country and would remain so. "These aren't the people who run a country, they are the ones who run a cricket team, " he added.

Zardari said in his tenure, he had joined his political rivals in order to "complete the Constitution" but now the country's exports had fallen and the dollar had seen a steep rise.

"I want to ask you not to worry so much; they have little time left. They will fall due to their own weight," the PPP leader told the crowd.

He said while he was not afraid of jails, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was running a "black market" and issuing warrants for businessmen. The PPP did not have a single political prisoner during its government, he added.

"Could anyone have thought that [former military ruler retired Gen Pervez] Musharraf would be yearning to come to Pakistan but he cannot?" Zardari said.

He added that history was witness to the fact that "whenever you have done anything against democracy, eventually the loss was of the country."

"You will come and go, you have no importance. Like the party Musharraf formed came to an end, this party too will end," he said without naming anyone.

Zardari said Prime Minister Imran should quit "if you accept yourself you are unable to run the country". He asked the premier to hold fresh elections and see for whom the people stood.

"Everyone is hoping that one day Bhutto's party will come into power and we will prosper [again]," he said, adding that the PPP had kept inflation under control despite financial crises.

The former president said he wanted all parties to unite on one page "but we shouldn't dictate each other what to do. Learn something from us well; I may have experience of doing those things in the past.

"I ousted a general like a fly out of milk, so we can bring down Imran Khan as well but we need to change the mindset and methodology," he said, adding that the opposition will have to "fill up the jails".

    'United under PDM'
Speaking at the rally earlier in the day, Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) leader Awais Noorani said the PDM's fight was "simple" and that it wanted all institutions to operate within their domains.

"We don't want to fight anyone. Stay within your limits and let people make their decisions," he said without naming anyone, adding that the PDM wanted free and fair elections.

Noorani said an election will be held "soon" and asked PDM workers to prepare for it in order to win back their mandate.

In his speech, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai said today's gathering carried a special meaning because all of Pakistan's political parties "which the establishment set against each other" had joined hands.

"This is God's blessing that Pakistan's parties which used to do who knows what against each other, today are united and agreed and gathered under PDM's [banner]," he said.

Achakzai said the opposition didn't set up the PDM "for our own sake" and that it wanted everyone to adhere to the Constitution. "Democracy is the fountainhead of our political power," he added.

Awami National Party leader Ameer Haider Khan Hoti paid tribute to Benazir's political struggles, saying she knew of the threats facing her but returned to Pakistan to fight with courage before being martyred.

"Today it was said here that by martyring her, an attempt was made to break the chain of Pakistan; that chain was not destroyed, Bilawal did not allow that chain to break. You can see all of Pakistan is present here today," he said.

Hoti also thanked PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari for "guiding" him while the latter was the president, saying: "When it was our government [in KP], Zardari sahib never saw me as a chief minister of the ANP [but] he saw me as his own chief minister."

JUI-F's Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri lashed out at the government, saying ministers were busy in the character assassination of opposition members.

"We have never seen cowardly leaders like them. They don't have a majority in Pakistan [and] they have brought the country to the brink of destruction. Due to their policies investors are running away," he said.

"They talk about democracy and aren't even ashamed that their ministers are engaged in character assassination of opposition day and night."

Haideri vowed that the PDM will not rest until "sending this puppet, showpiece, inept, selected government home".

    'Honour to attend Benazir's anniversary'
Earlier today, PDM leaders including Bilawal, Maryam, Achakzai and Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) President Sardar Akhtar Mengal had lunch at Naudero House from where they left for Garhi Khuda Bux.

Speaking to reporters before leaving for Sukkur on Saturday, Maryam said she was "very happy that I am going to Benazir Bhutto" on her death anniversary. "She gave her life bravely for this country. It is an honour for me to attend her anniversary," the PML-N vice president said.

She said that the Charter of Democracy given to the nation by Benazir and her father Nawaz Sharif changed history and now she, Bilawal, and all leaders of the PDM would take it forward.

However, JUI-F chief and PDM president Maulana Fazlur Rehman declined the invitation to attend the rally citing other engagements.

Sources said the maulana would not participate because the anniversary programme was not a declared public meeting of PDM.

Instead, a five-member delegation of the party comprising Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Abdul Raziq Abid Lakho, Maulana Siraj Ahmad Shah Amroti, Maulana Saud Afzal and Maulana Abdullah Mehr would participate in the anniversary, Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro, general secretary of JUI-F Sindh, had told Dawn.

Speaking to the media ahead of his departure for Garhi Khuda Bux, Maulana Haideri said Maulana Fazl did "not have any grievance with Bilawal or PPP". If he had any grievance, he would not have sent his delegation either, Haideri added.

"Everyone has their schedule and obligations. If Bilawal did not come to Mardan, this cannot be called his grievance," he said.

Bilawal himself arrived in Naudero on Friday, two days ahead of the scheduled programme, while his aunt MPA Faryal Talpur was already there to supervise arrangements, sources said earlier.

Only two months till senate election. These frauds will try their best to cause chaos.

Also amazing Shehbaz has apparently said to Maryam that he doesn't agree with any of her moves or any of her rhetoric, which is why Lahore jalsa failed. Yet he doesn't have the spine to go further and say this in public or create another party.

Nawaz does as his main demand has been to let Maryam off. Zardardi is using Bilawal as a shield as he's clever enough to pull the strings from the background like now so his name is kept out of any trouble.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has postponed PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz hearing at its Lahore office scheduled to be held tomorrow (Friday).

In a statement on Thursday, the anti-corruption watchdog said that the decision has been taken in view of the NCOC guidelines which include ban on all public gathering to contain the spread of novel coronavirus and “in wider public interest”.

“The NAB Lahore has decided to defer the hearing while new date for hearing of the case will be announced at a suitable time,” the bureau said in the statement.

Accordingly, NAB has decided to immediately withdraw security arrangements put in place for the appearance of Maryam Nawaz, it added.

Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and other leaders had announced that they will accompany the PML-N stalwart at the hearing “in show of solidarity”.

Earlier in the day, the Lahore High Court (LHC) also set aside the NAB petition requesting the court to direct Maryam to appear at the bureau's Lahore office without party workers and with a maximum of two persons.

The authority had said two persons may act as her support staff, out of which one may be an accountant to assist her.

The accountability watchdog failed to satisfy the court over “how a court could intervene in a purely political activity and pass an order for restraining a political party from its political activity”.

The same court on Wednesday also granted pre-arrest bail to the PML-N vice-president ahead of her hearing at the NAB Lahore bureau on March 26.

Soon after the anti-corruption watchdog’s decision, Maryam while addressing a press conference in Lahore said this time around she will not become “an easy target for NAB”.

Accusing the graft busters of targeting PML-N leaders at Prime Minister Imran Khan’s behest, Maryam said: “No matter how many press releases NAB issues, everyone knows it has become an institute of political engineering.”

She said NAB has withdrawn its notice fearing public backlash. “The people took strict notice of the political notifications of NAB.”

“Don’t use NAB to intimidate PML-N leaders... we are neither scared of NAB nor of your [PTI govt’s] revenge,” she said without naming the PM Imran’s government.

‘We have reconciled with the GHQ,’ PML-N’s Zubair.

With how things have turned out in the past week, I feel the next government would be of PML-N’s. First, PML-N distanced itself from Javid Latif’s statements then it also distanced itself from Javed Hashmi’s anti-military statements. There are rumors that Nawaz’s disqualification will be overturned and if that first not happen, Maryam or Shahbaz would be the next PM.

PML-N has has started to polish boots and they will be awarded handsomely in 2023. The party has gotten rid of its ‘civilian supremacy’ chants.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday said that if speaking of the truth, of the supremacy of the Constitution, law and institutions is traitorous, "then we will do this treachery again and again".

Maryam was paying a visit to party member Javed Latif's family in Sheikhupura when she made the remarks.

Standing outside his residence and speaking to a crowd of supporters gathered there, Maryam said that by labelling Latif a "traitor", the government had, in fact, labelled the people of Sheikhupura "traitors".

"We have been listening to this word ghaddaar (traitor) for a long time now. Whenever they are afraid of someone, and when they are afraid of the truth, of talk of the law and Constitution, of bravery, the bag opens and out come labels such as traitor [...] or thief," she said.

She said that Latif, with his "unwavering stance on what is right and true", had "paid his dues being a son of the soil of Pakistan".

Maryam said that if being declared a traitor is a crime, then the first person to have been declared one was Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.

She followed by saying even her father, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was declared a traitor and so had she herself been labelled one.

"If calling what is right, 'right', what is true, 'true', if speaking of the supremacy of the Constitution and institutions, and of standing by the law, is traitorous, then we will do this treachery again and again," Maryam said.

She said that those who have "opened factories to issue fatwas (decrees) of someone being a traitor", must listen up. "When you are afraid, and have lost, and cannot bear to listen to talk of the supremacy of the Constitution, you issue certificates of treachery."

"But I will say this, times have changed. People have stopped being afraid.

"Today like Javed Latif when you know you will speak the truth and be arrested and still stick to your guns, there is no greater service to the nation than this," Maryam said.

Speaking of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam said that "they worked hard to label him a traitor" but the 220 million people of Pakistan "turned him into a hero instead".

She added that although Nawaz Sharif is in London, "from all corners of the country, decisions and victories in his favour are being witnessed".

The PML-N vice president then spoke of the Daska by-election, saying the people took the "respect the vote" slogan to heart, guarded their vote, and then took it back when it was "stolen" from them.

PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Friday alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan was spending money to “buy votes” ahead of the July 25 general elections in Azad and Jammu Kashmir (AJK).

As many as 32 political and religious parties are vying in the polls — prominent among them PML-N, PPP and PTI — for the 45 direct seats of the assembly, 33 of which are located in AJK territory and 12 in Pakistan.

Addressing a rally in Pattaka, AJK, as part of her party's election campaign, Maryam said Imran Khan was now again talking about approaching the International Monetary Fund (IMF), hinting “he doesn’t have money to provide people with food supplies, but he has enough resources and money to buy votes in the AJK elections,” she claimed.

She called upon people to rein in and “catch" Imran if he attempted to "rig" the AJK elections, like people caught 'manipulators' in the Daska by-election.

Hitting out at the government, the PML-N leader said Pakistan was now again experiencing 12-hour load shedding, which, according to her, Nawaz Sharif had contained with his effective policies.

“Perhaps this is the first summer when Pakistan is witnessing gas load shedding. The selectors who are now supporting Imran were against Nawaz Sharif when he was taking measures to provide relief to the masses,” alleged Maryam Nawaz.

She also castigated the premier for “letting people suffer during the last Ramazan just to get a 1kg sack of sugar.” She insisted the PML-N would not allow the “sun of selection” to rise in Kashmir.

She claimed that a concert was under way at the Foreign Office on July 8 — the day when the country was observing the fifth death anniversary of Burhan Wani, Hizbul Mujahideen leader and a revered figure in Indian-occupied Kashmir.

Taking a jibe at the premier for allegedly keeping mum on Kashmir issue, she said Imran Khan was changing the names of roads, observing mourning once a week to fight the case of Kashmir under his “foreign policy”.

She said premier Khan had claimed Trump would mediate in the Kashmir issue, “but how we let Kashmir go is all that we have now.” The PML-N leader slammed the prime minister for merely asking people to observe “two-minute silence” in solidarity with Kashmiris, alleging “this is all that has been doing for the cause of Kashmir”.

She questioned how a man — who spent all his life in a cricket ground — could know about the foreign policy of a country. “He keeps on ruthlessly hitting the people of Pakistan with the same bat that he would use in the ground,” she said in an indirect reference to the premier.

Accusing the prime minister of “giving away” Kashmir to India, she claimed measures were afoot to bifurcate Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well.

Earlier, she thanked the people of Pattaka for turning up in large numbers at the PML-N rally.

She insisted that the PML-N was still a popular political party in the AJK. “You can suppress the voice of Nawaz Sharif, you can declare him absconder… but the people of AJK still admire him,” she added.

Islamabad [Pakistan], July 11 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Saturday lambasted Prime Minister Imran Khan on misgovernance and said his election symbol should now be that of a "thief" rather than the cricket bat.

The PML-N leader said that in 2018, Imran Khan "stole the election" with the symbol of the cricket bat. "The mention of Imran Khan's name now only brings to mind how the people were robbed of flour, sugar," she said, reported Geo News.

She said all one can recall are "queues for flour and sugar".

"The elderly stood in line and they were given a mere 1.5 of sugar. Can 1.5 kg of sugar be enough for a house of 10 to 12 people?" she asked.

Maryam's remarks came as she addressed a rally in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) Sharda town, reported Geo News.

While comparing Khan with former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, she said, "When one thinks of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, one recalls 'motorways' and 'progress'."

Further, she said, "no one believes in the selected"; he (PM Imran Khan) "neither has respect at home nor abroad".
The PML-N vice president urged the audience to participate robustly with the whole families in the coming July 25 elections. "Promise me you will guard your votes until the results are announced," she said.

Maryam said that the "lion" will emerge victorious in the valley on July 25, referring to the PML-N election symbol, reported Geo News. (ANI)

Bringing the internal rift to the fore, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz said even our opponents recognise the power of PML-N and Nawaz Sharif’s narrative of vote and delivery but those within do not acknowledge our strength, adding that “some in our party are afraid of us while we are afraid of them”.

Maryam was addressing Punjab’s last divisional meeting at Central Party Secretariat in Faisalabad on Thursday.

This was not the first time a PML-N leader had referenced a tug of war within the party, but each time party spokespersons came out with a new analogy of the tussle in a bid to give a different meaning than what would be perceived on face value.

She stated that internally people started questioning what PML-N can do against rigging while our opponents, viewing the large rallies and voter outcome, were concerned with the PML-N trajectory. She said that there was a thin line between victory and defeat.

"If you all refuse to bow down before tyranny and refuse to surrender to thuggery, there will be no stopping PML-N from securing a resounding victory in the next elections," she told the workers.

Talking about the former chief justice of Pakistan, Saqib Nisar, she said that nobody remembers the one who had taken the premiership from Nawaz. "Wherever he goes, he has to hide his face because people do not even want to shake hands with him," she claimed.

The party VC stated that those who had claimed that Nawaz’s politics was over, they have to resort to foul play to win against him even today.

She further said that despite winning general elections by rigging, they lost the later elections to PML-N. She added that those who used to accuse PML-N of robbery, today courts were giving adverse remarks against their own rule.

Maryam stated that their party leaders were asked to answer for three of their generations while there is one party that is not even disclosing what gifts it has received from foreign countries. She said that if naming who gifted what is the sole problem, then just tell what gift they have received, leaving aside the names.

Towards the end of the address, according to the statement issued by the PML-N, she praised PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif for working day and night for the people of Punjab and acknowledged his untiring efforts in combating the dengue virus.

Moreover, addressing the gathering, Nawaz recalled how he had refused to sign a request for dissolution of the assembly immediately after the 1999 coup against his government.

He said that he had told the three generals that came to him to offer a free passage by signing a letter that they will get what they want ‘over my dead body’.

The former prime minister said that they stayed for half an hour and started by requesting but ended with hurling threats. He added that later he was taken to Karachi where after a short court proceeding he was given a 27-year prison term that they tried to convert into capital punishment.

Nawaz further recalled that he was taken to a dirty cell where he slept in a cloud of dust. He said that a gun was put to his head and asked how dare he gave the charge of COAS to a new general.

The PML-N leader talked of the sacrifices made by PML-N and reminded of the development made on all fronts, including defence, during his tenure. He said that why should we fight with our military while questioning why any PM has not returned home safe and sound. "We are those who love their army," he stated.

Nawaz said that we were not a dead nation that can be herded around like sheep. He added that lobbies were active in America to impose sanctions on Pakistan. He asked why did no one ask for a receipt from Papa John's? "Why are all the hardships for elected leaders?" he lamented.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz's lawyer on Wednesday apprised the Islamabad High Court (IHC) bench that there was no evidence proving that his client was a "beneficial owner" of the Avenfield Apartments.

The counsel, Irfan Qadir, made this argument as the IHC special bench comprising Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani took up the appeals against the decision of an accountability court in the Avenfield case.

Qadir said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) could not produce documents linking the former prime minister, Nawaz Sharif, and his daughter to the flats in London. He said the PML-N VP "inherited" the sentence. "If there was no case to be made against Nawaz then how can Maryam's case go to trial," the counsel added.

According to Irfan, the due process of the law was violated in the case. He said it was out of the question for the NAB court to take up the case as rules were not followed.

He added that the case against Maryam was of "political engineering" and that his client should be given a benefit of the doubt as there was no conclusive evidence against her.

Qadir further argued that the NAB has its own arrest policy that was made 18 years ago by itself. He said the anti-graft watchdog wanted to send Maryam back to jail but there was no reason to imprison an accused suspected of a white-collar crime.

"The accused is provided benefit if there is a reason [to doubt evidence] in criminal cases," he said.

At this, Justice Amir Farooq remarked that the NAB wanted to send every accused to jail. He added NAB officials were behaving like an SHO as they wanted to arrest everyone without any regard for evidence.

Maryam's counsel also alluded to the Arsalan Iftikhar case during the hearing. He said: "I don't want to malign any state institution, but there shouldn't be any hurdle in the pursuit of justice."

He said the court should ask NAB against how many families references pertaining to public office holders have been filed? He said the Supreme Court said that references against the Sharif family should be filed.

He said only the NAB chief can approve references under the NAB law, adding that the apex court cannot use the authority granted to the NAB chief.

"If the formation of a JIT [joint investigation team] was a necessity, it could have been formed by the NAB chairman," he added.

Qadir also questioned three references against Sharifs filed by the NAB, saying the watchdog could have added "100 properties in a single reference", but there should have been one reference only. "It is such a massive irregularity that my client can be exonerated on the basis of it today," he added.

He said Nawaz Sharif could come back to Pakistan on the assurance of the court that he will not be arrested and will be heard.

NAB prosecutor, Muzzaffar Abbasi, submitted the registration of Avenfield flats. He said as per UK authorities, Maryam Nawaz was the beneficial owner of the flats owned through offshore companies, Neilsen and Nascol. He termed these properties "hidden".

Following the completion of the arguments of Maryam Nawaz’s lawyer, the apex court directed the NAB to give arguments at the next hearing on November 17.

The Islamabad High Court on Thursday dismissed the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request to conduct day-to-day hearing of the appeals of PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Capt (retd) Mohammad Safdar and give a decision on the matter within 30 days.

A two-judge bench, comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, rejected the plea, noting that “the application is misconceived”.

The provision for day-to-day hearing and concluding the trial in a month applies to trial and not to the appeal stage, the court observed.

“Section 16(a) of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999 mandates that the trial is to be conducted on day-to-day basis and concluded within 30 days,” the bench noted. “No such parallel provision exists for decisions of appeals.”

The anti-graft body had contended that the appeal was pending since 2018, so it should be decided within 30 days.

The court also issued a notice to NAB on Maryam’s application seeking acquittal from the Avenfield reference on the grounds that “no evidence existed” in the case against the appellant and there were “grave illegalities” in the filing of the reference against the procedure mentioned in Section 18 of the NAO, 1999.

Read More: Maryam wants party factions to recognise PML-N’s strength

In addition, the order noted, Maryam’s lawyer Irfan Qadir had delved into the merit of the appeal and submitted that “not an iota of evidence” was present about the culpability of the appellant.

Qadir had pointed out that the charges against the appellant was under Section 9(a)(v) of the NAO 1999, which did not stand proven as no document was submitted to the trial court.

He had also contended that the trial court did not have jurisdiction in the matter as there was absence of jurisdictional facts. He had added that the prosecution had failed to make out a case against the appellant in the facts and circumstances.

Qadir was confronted as to whether, while deciding application in hand, all the submissions could be examined whereupon it was submitted that “patent illegalities” existed in the filing of the Avenfield reference and in the findings recorded by the trial court.

“He [Qadir] submitted that he will agitate the ground of political engineering in the filing of the reference against the appellant and recording conviction against the appellant including the contents of the application, if the court so directs,” the order noted.

Subsequently, the court issued notice to the respondents on application, which the counsel for NAB accepted. While accepting the notice, the court noted, the NAB counsel submitted that the arguments advanced by Maryam’s counsel pertained to merit of the appeal and was a matter of record.

The court also allowed the NAB lawyer time to assist it.

The bench also clubbed NAB’s petition against Maryam and her husband’s post-arrest bails with other appeals related to the Avenfield property reference.

The court would take up the case on November 17 for hearing together.

On July 6, 2018, an accountability court had convicted former premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and son-in-law in the Avenfield properties reference and handed them jail terms of 10, seven and one years, respectively, for owning assets beyond known sources of income.

Maryam digging her own grave with her statements: Sheikh Rasheed

Minister for Interior Sheikh Rasheed on Sunday said that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz is "digging her own grave", referring to the often confrontational nature of the statements she makes.

Rasheed's remarks, while speaking to the media, come a day after the Opposition's Pakistan Democratic Movement held a large public rally in Faisalabad's Dhobi Ghaat ground, where Maryam — who was representing the PML-N in the absence of party president Shahbaz Sharif — spoke at length in criticism of the current regime.

The minister warned Maryam that dragging the army into a debate at Dhobi Ghaat or Lahore's Mochi Gate will "result in a political smackdown similar to what occurs in a dhobi ghaat" (when clothes are beaten with sticks while washing them).

He said Maryam's move to call out state institutions is "foolish".

"With these judo karate-like manoeuvres with the aim to slander (institutions), she is digging her own political grave," he remarked.

Rasheed said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is "going nowhere" and will complete his five-year term. He said that ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, on the other hand, "hatched a plan to go to London" and is now "crying crocodile tears".

In the Faisalabad rally yesterday, Maryam had told the nation that the time to them to decide their future and to change their fate is now, as she sought their support to oust PM Imran Khan.

Speaking of the government's recent statement, whereby Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry had remarked that the prime minister has the prerogative to appoint the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), she said that it may very well be his prerogative to do so, but "electing the prime minister is the prerogative of the people".

"The people should first choose their own prime minister and then he may decide what to do," she said, adding: "Imran Khan is not an elected leader; he is selected."

'Feeding dogs high-quality meat': Maryam slams PM's idea of welfare state

PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz on Tuesday reacted to Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi's speeches on the occasion of 12 Rabi ul Awal — in which they talked about an ideal Islamic welfare state — and said that there is no comparison of Pakistan under the present government and Riyasat e Madinah.

Referring to the premier, Maryam said that those who travel from one place to another in helicopters have no idea what the poor masses are going through because of inflation.

Yet, the government has the audacity to talk about Riyasat e Madinah, she said.

"Those whose dogs are fed high-quality meat should think before likening their governance to that of Riyasat e Madinah," Maryam said while taking a dig at PM Imran Khan.

She went on to say that due to the ongoing inflation in the country, "the poor and the destitute are dying of hunger, parents are poisoning their children because they are unable to feed them, and people are committing suicide."

"The government should think about the condition of the poor before talking about Riyasat e Madinah," she said, adding that those in power should be able to genuinely feel for the poor instead of issuing prejudiced statements against Opposition parties.

Criticising PM Imran Khan once again, she questioned: "How can someone be so blind, deaf, and dumb [to the condition of the poor masses]?"

It should be recalled that earlier in the day, the president and prime minister, in their separate messages on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi, had said Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) laid the foundation of Riyasat-e-Madinah, which rose before the world as an example in terms of humanity, justice, and the rule of law.

President Dr Arif Alvi, in his message, had said that the Prophet (PBUH) established such a welfare state where the rich and poor enjoyed equal rights.

While lauding the efforts of the present government in turning Pakistan into a model welfare state on the patterns of Riasat-e-Madina, he had said he hoped that all resources of the state will be utilised for this purpose.

PM Imran Khan, on the other hand, had said that the arrival of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the world brought a revolution in society.

The prime minister had said that in Riyasat e Madinah, minorities were protected, the poor and needy were taken care of, and the rights and obligations of the state and citizens were determined — a model that his government aspires to follow.

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) would take up the appeals of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz's (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband in Avenfield Property reference on Tuesday for hearing.

A division bench of the IHC comprising Justice Aamer Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhter Kiyani would hear the appeals of Maryam Nawaz and Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar.

The appellants had challenged their conviction in the Avenfield property reference. Previously, their lawyers had sought adjournment from the court on the pretext of engagements in the Supreme Court.

The court had already separated the matter of Nawaz Sharif from the case after declaring him as an absconder.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has once again come down hard on Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying that people in every nook and corner of the country were “demanding his resignation owing to bad governance and high inflation”.

Address the media outside Islamabad High Court in Islamabad on Tuesday, Maryam said the ruling PTI has faced a major upset in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s local bodies elections due to its poor performance and flawed economic policies.

Maryam said the PTI-led federal government was the first in the country’s history to lose all by-elections and added that no one will be willing to contest the next general election on the ruling party’s ticket.

“He [PM Imran] still has an opportunity to resign with dignity and admit that he has failed to resolve the issues of the masses… otherwise things may get worse,” she remarked.

Taking a swipe at the ruling party, Maryam said even its own leaders and lawmakers were criticising the policies of their government. “Those who will contest elections from PTI’s platform will need to wear a helmet due to growing public anguish against the government.”

While responding to a question as to who will be nominated as PML-N’s candidate for the slot of prime minister, Maryam said the final decision in this regard will be taken by party supremo Nawaz Sharif.

“I will be happy to see Shehbaz Sharif as candidate for [the post of prime minister] but all party members including Shehbaz have given mandate to Nawaz Sharif to make final decision,” she added.

ISLAMABAD: PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz said Tuesday that judging by the government's condition, it is only a matter of days, not months or weeks, before it is sent packing.

The PML-N vice-president, talking to journalists outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), said the mechanism to change the government will soon be revealed before the people.

"But first, we will have to get rid of this incompetent government," she said. "The whole nation is aware of the truth behind the controversy they are trying to stir."

She said that despite going through a "trial" phase, not a single member of the provincial assembly of Nawaz Sharif's PML-N decided to part ways with the party.

"But despite Imran Khan being the sitting prime minister, his party members do not respect him," the PML-N vice-president said.

"The urgency with which PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) seeks to topple the government is only outmatched by government representatives themselves seeking to do the same," she said in response to a question.

    Farrukh Habib responds
Responding to Maryam, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib said that according to the PML-N vice-president, the government was going to be toppled last December.

"We have [formed a government] through the people's vote, we will complete our constitutional term," the state minister said.

Habib said the PML-N vice-president was part of the losing team, as he slammed the PDM for announcing a long march to oust the government seven times.

Criticising ex-prime minister Nawaz, he said the former premier was declared ineligible by the Supreme Court as he had "looted" the country's wealth. He said Nawaz was not seeking treatment in London, but rather it was an excuse to prolong his stay abroad.

"Nawaz's only place is Adiala Jail [...] he should come back, we will even provide him with an [air] ticket," he said.

He claimed there was a split in-between the PML-N, with Maryam and party president Shahbaz Sharif trying to bring each other down.

ML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday hit back at Prime Minister Imran Khan after he accused the opposition leaders of corruption and plundering the national wealth.

“Every word that IK [PM Imran Khan] has uttered today reeks of failure, dashed hopes & no faith in his or PTI’s future. This was inevitable man,” wrote Maryam on her official Twitter handle as soon as the premier’s live question-answer session with the public concluded in the evening.

While responding to the public queries over telephone, PM Imran blamed the past rulers for destroying the country’s economy and termed the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif a “criminal” and the “culprit of the nation”.

He also warned the opposition that he will be “more dangerous” for them if ousted from power, saying that till now he was only watching their gimmicks from his office.

“You will not find a place to hide if I take to streets… I will just need to nudge people and others will be running to London as well to join the ones who are already there,” the premier remarked.

Maryam while responding to the PM’s tirade said Imran Khan will be remembered in the history as a person who “relied more on conspiracy and plotting than people’s power”.

The PML-N leader added that cases against Sharif family members and PML-N leaders “were all false and fabricated and were bound to meet the fate they have met”.

“Now that your reality has dawned on the world, do not blame the judiciary. You have only your vindictiveness and revengefulness to blame,” she added.

She said people of the country “are waiting for you [PM Imran] to spare them [from] the four-year-long ordeal that has cost them their lives”.

Meanwhile, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb has described the prime minister’s address as an “application for the job extension and diatribe of a loser, disappointed, incompetent and a thief”.

She said had PM Imran done anything for the welfare of the people during his four years in power, he would not have to blame the PML-N leaders in his address.

“[PM] Imran Khan don't panic, now is the time to go home… Nawaz Sharif will keep smiling and you will keep crying,” she added.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) accepted a request by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday, providing a month's time to the NAB counsel to prepare for the Avenfield case.

During a hearing on pleas filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz and her husband Muhammad Safdar, newly-appointed NAB special prosecutor sought four weeks time to prepare the case against Maryam and Safdar.

NAB counsel Azhar Siddique said he couldn’t get time to go through the case as the notification for his appointment as the special prosecutor was issued a day ago.

Maryam’s counsel Irfan Qadir said the high court had asked NAB a question and the proceedings wouldn’t take long if NAB submitted the response to that query. Qadir said he wanted NAB to have the opportunity to prepare well for the case.

“We had always wanted to take this case to a logical conclusion at the earliest,” he said, requesting the court to direct NAB for early conclusion of arguments in the case.

The NAB counsel said the case was not just related to two documents, adding that he had a lot to say but wouldn’t say at this point. Qadir said NAB had affixed irrelevant records with its application.

The NAB prosecutor quipped that Maryam’s counsel wanted to give “a sentence to media” by making such remarks.

Read Objections raised over Maryam's Avenfield acquittal plea

However, the court stopped the counsels from taking jibes at each other.

Maryam’s previous counsel, Amjad Pervez, was also present at the hearing. He said the case should have been concluded in 30 days as per the NAB ordinance. “Amjad sahib, you had been on leave because of illness,” retorted Justice Aamir Farooq.

“Such thirty days have come and gone,” he said, adding that initially, NAB had wanted the court to decide the case against Sharifs in 30 days. “We had rejected that petition,” Justice Farooq added.

Speaking to the media after the hearing, Maryam Nawaz chided Prime Minister Imran Khan over the arrest of a PML-N social media worker over ‘vilification’ of Imran’s wife. She said, “When my mother was on her death bed, the workers of PTI [the ruling party] used to say that she was perfectly fine, having meals in the hospital

“The workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) standing outside my apartment used to hurl abuses whenever I came back from the hospital, “ she said, adding that she was detained in a “death cell” during her imprisonment. “Am I not someone's daughter,” she questioned.

She advised Imran to tolerate the criticism against him. “He is the first prime minister in the world who enjoys a lavish lifestyle at his Banigala residence on taxpayers’ money,” she quipped. Maryam said how could the PM understand the pain of people burdened by inflation when “his kitchen was being run on someone else’s money”.

“I pity his mindset,” she said, adding that the premier should have the “same standard for other women as he has for his wife”.

PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Sunday criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying that when this person saw losing his hold on power, he became mentally disturbed.

“[They] neither have moral values nor the capability of enmity,” the PML-N leader wrote on Twitter.

“[Neither] do they have any respect for the position they hold.”

The PML-N leader, who is the daughter of former premier Nawaz Sharif, further wrote that PM Imran had first insulted everyone and then said the State of Madina was based on morality. “May the Almighty protect Pakistan from your [PM Imran’s] wickedness,” she added.

In another tweet, she mocked the premier for “falling apart and sounding hysterical.” She added that the “game” had just begun and the premier had already lost it. “Show some sportsman spirit man!”

Last month, Maryam had lashed out at the PTI-led government for amending laws that would pave way for penalising defamation against the army, judiciary, public servants and government institutions as well as allowing the lawmakers to address public gatherings during election campaigns.

The PML-N leader said the laws being amended by the government were apparently aimed to stifle dissent in the country but in reality they will be used against PM Imran and his aides.

“Whatever laws this government is amending are meant to silence the media and the opposition but these laws are going to be used against [PM] Imran & Company,” she had written on Twitter.

Also read: ‘Be ready to face my wrath if no-trust move fails’, PM warns opposition

She had also said that no matter how much State power the premier used, he would not be able to “save himself”.

"The tide has turned… Mr Imran Khan! No matter how much state’s power you use, you cannot save yourself," she had stated on the micro-blogging website.

Maryam's remarks had come hours after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had taken media personality Mohsin Baig into custody after he resisted arrest and fired shots at an agency team which had arrived at his residence in the federal capital.

During the arrest, Baig and his son had brandished firearms and opened fire on FIA personnel, injuring one.

The FIA cybercrime wing had registered a case against Baig at the request of Communications Minister Murad Saeed.

"Your list of crimes not only includes taking revenge from opponents but also using state institutions like FIA to settle your personal score. You will be held accountable," Maryam had written.

Referring to the premier, she said that he was not some creature who had descended from the skies on Earth that houses of people would be raided if someone criticised him.

"My mother in ICU should have been given the same respect which you give to your wife... the mothers and sisters of your political opponents deserve same respect," she had added.

The PML-N vice president had said that PM Imran was indulging in a “dirty game” and also encouraging his “ignorant ministers” to do the same.

"This is how the fear of people like you comes to fore when they start to lose power. Seeing your actions, the last few days of the Musharraf [former military ruler] era come to mind.”

You'd be surprised how many from all walk of life support Billo and Aunt Calibri for various reasons.

The liberals support Billo because it give them false sense of belief of supporting and promoting liberalism - no one is more liberal and promoter of Pakistani culture, be it music, films, expression of art etc then PTI government. Obviously PTI won't support anti-PTI liberal version of liberalism.

Poor support them because they lack of understanding of how corrupt these offspring's of corrupt politicians are and due to feudalism.

Rich support them because as many corrupt rich of Pakistan they want to keep protecting their stolen wealth.

Middle class support them because some do not understand the concept of re-building the country and continue supporting them will just prolong the process of getting out of the mess these so called foreign leader with their wealth stashed up in London, Swiss bank and Caribbean islands

But if PTI is to win next election then Aunt Calibri will try to move to London.

When Zardari is done breathing his last breath then no one will be bowing down to Billo except few in the interior Sindh - The young educated generation of Sindh do not want to do anything with Billo.

We are already being ruled by the army. I would take anyone over the army in this democratic country.

Also, stop going by what overseas pakistanis post, you have to live in this country to understand the problems.

Overseas pakistanis can write about all they want but ppp issue in the past had been inteferance by the army whenever it was elected.

Pti hasnt done zilch of difference either and has just only promoted the armys agenda... Tpday imran himself accepted that the army is with him....just shows how the elections are flawed and manuevered by the army...

Anyways, bilalwal doesnt even have a corruption case against him, the arguments presented by pti fan boys are ridiculous as always.

They are corrupt because i feel like they are corrupt....... That is the lamest of reasons

Have pretentious liberal throw in cliché words such as "Army", "over seas Pakistani", and " PTI fan boys" to get brownie points from the neighbors and to appear as if they have said something intelligent.

As if Pak army and the government supporting the narrative of self determination and economy independent while trying to stay neutral is a bad thing, only a pretentious liberal would be inclined to believe that. lol

Can you please explain to us who is the defacto leader of PPP? Zerdari, Bilawal or is Bhutto running the show from beyond the grave?

What about all the corruption and millions and billions PPP and Zerdari have stolen from the nation all these years?

I happen to know A LOT of people in Pakistan who support PTI. PPP and PML have done nothing for the country of note and most people realize that. the only people who truly support PPP or PMLN are those jin ki rozi roti abhi bhi lagi hui hai in parties ke saath.

Those with a conscience do not support them at all.

    Is Bilalwal corrupt?

If we are going to pick party members, than what about Firdous Ashiq or Jahangir Tareen?

Again, overseas dont understand these political parties or the demographics of their voter banks. You guys think oh, flana supporting flana cause he is benefitting. A pious insan would follow Imran or else he is not pious.

    Support isn't on that basis.

People who understand the economic and foreign policies support PPP because they have always maintain a proper required foreign policy. PPP has bought back the country from hyper inflation back in 2010. Thus, the people who understand these things would support or elect ppp. Especially on the economic front.

PMLN voter bank is businessman as they get policies made in their favor. The business community thrives when PMLN is in power, plus they are more interested in building roads and all. PMLN is terrible at the foreign policy front and with the economic policies related to controlling the demand and reducing cost. PMLN can promote economic growth but that is now what is required during this inflationary period

PTI focus was to eliminate corruption, and awaam was expecting they would be getting sahulat from the govt which they never got any..

People who dont understand the politics of Pakistan can vote anyone and would like vote PTI because these people are themselves unsure or unaware of what each party has to offer.

oh bhai meray, please stop running on false assumptions that everybody living overseas is jahil regarding such matters and that everybody living in pakistan is supposedly in the most know how. Even if you believe that, then how do you justify millions who support PTI?

I am in touch with all my school and college buddies from Lahore, they all live in Pakistan. Some in Lahore, some in Islamabad, etc and a few in Karachi. A very vast majority, I want to say close to 80% of them support PTI. Are they all stupid?

I think it is very insulting when you use the "oh but you dont live in the pakistan" line of reasoning. It is immensely flawed and insulting to the intelligence of people who have rejected year and years of corruption and the dynastic politics that is shoved down our throats. I refuse to accept Bilawal as a reasonable political leader just because he was born into a political family. SIMPLE!
What has he done to earn my trust? Imran has been toiling in politics for the last 30 years now. He never gave up and kept fighting the corrupt system. That is enough for me. You can complain about his party consisting of the same old corrupt people, but at least there is hope he can try and fix them.

Our other options are to go with the offspring of the tried and tested corrupt, looteray who think Pakistan is their jaidad and their kids meeras. I say screw these people. I would rather go with Imran and hope he will try and fix his bad party members.

The answer to that is pretty simple. Majority of Pakistanis are not educated enough or have strong enough conscience to do what is right for the country. Votes are cast based on what benefits the person, sometimes they are outright paid, or they are cast based upon a toxic trend along ethnic, religious, sectarian, linguistic lines. PPP always raises the slogan of Sindh, MQM of Karachi and PML along Punjab lines. Our whole democracy in a way is flawed along those lines.

But the encouraging part is we never voted in a religio-political party like JI, and we voted for the promise of a better democracy once Zia was blown to bits.

It was PMLN and PPP who have repeatedly let us down. You tell me why is it that its always going to be someone from the Sharif and now Zerdari family that will become the PM or has become the PM before Imran took over? (talking about post ZIA era). Why have we turned into a state run by dynastic political leaders who treat us like their subjects and do not actually serve us as they are supposed to in a real democracy? Why dont the good people who worked all their lives for PML and PPP sidelined in favor of the Sharif and Zerdari kids?

If you realize the answer to these questions, you will understand your support for these parties is a farce. It does not benefit the nation as a whole.

But thats besides the point, in a democracy, you are free to support or oppose whomever you choose, SO if you oppose IK, thats your decision and you are protected under the values of democracy. same goes the other way!

PPP hasnt let anyone down... THe politics in the 90s was a war with army, isis and pmln.

My support for PPP is a farce, but if i support PTI than i am educated.

PMLN can go to hell for all I care..

PPP wasn't suppose to be a family dynasty, what made it a family dynasty was the isi and army factor. You kill the main leader, the daughter was of course going to rise and stand for the people, than the ISI decided to create a whole new party called IJI and also decided to kill the sons of Bhutto. What do you expect than?

Yes zardari has ruined the party , but no way was Makhdoom Amin Faheem gonna be handed over the party as the guy was more interested in promoting his family interest by getting govt jobs.

Too bad Bhuttos grand children were raised in shielded environments that they cant even connect with the awaam, while Bhuttos children were able to connect with the awaam. It is yet to be seen if Bilalwal actually cares about fixing the country or not. But he isnt corrupt. The election campaign that will start from PPP would determine whether Bilalwal actually cares for the awaam or is just in it for the political status. Lets see how he does his campaign in 12 months.

PTI is also a family dynasty whether you like that or not. Sure the main face of the party doesnt have a family to give the party too, but the likes of Jehangir Tareen do.

you ever been to karachi? look at the state of the town. You been to interior sindh? What about mr ten percent or should we say mr 30 percent? Wo to moonh phaar ke admit kerta hai mein rishwat leta hoon. her cheez mein PPP ka jagga tax hota hai. Didnt BB loot enough money to make a mansion in surrey? or was it the ISI who did it for her?
i guess the Panama leaks that implicated him were also just an ISI or Army drama?

Bhai uthh jao, wake up, stop supporting parties just because of family traditions. FYI, my last two generations were PPP supporters as well.

Are you really arguing that she wasnt corrupt

"Ms Bhutto and Mr Zardari denied owning Rockwood during corruption investigations in Pakistan in the 1990s.

But in 2004, Mr Zardari suddenly admitted that it was his.

The property changed hands in 2005, but has not been used as a family home for more than a decade"

Major saab is being disingenuous asking for explicit convictions knowing none have happened. There were corruption charges filed against BB & Zardari in Switzerland which were dropped once Pakistan Government (PPP) post Musharraf withdrew GoP as an involved party. There were even charges in Spanish courts when they uncovered shell companies set up by BB/Zardari in spain to siphon off monies in Iraqi oil for food program. Condoleeza Rice specially flew to Spain to have those investigations quashed as BB was being brought in as pollical cover for Mushy in 2007/08 NRO paving the way for her return.

Similarly Noora and Shahid Khaqan Abbasi should have been convicted of 200+ attempted murder case when they tried to stop the PIA aircraft carrying Musharraf back from SLK from landing. The aircraft almost ran out of fuel. SKA was recorded on the radio telling the captain to take the aircraft to India but does not have permission to land at KHI. Pakistani courts just let him walk away post Musharraf.

Murtaza Bhutto should have been convicted of Hijacking PIA PK326 and taking it to Kabul & murdering Major Tariq. But nothing happened. He met his fate via Zardari though.

    The "overseas lot"

"Pakistan received record $29.4 billion remittances during the financial year 2020-21 as non-resident Pakistanis continued to send over $2 billion foreign exchange for the 13th consecutive month in June, latest data shows."

Do you know how much tax was given by Pakistanis who live in Pakistan? Not even $5 Billion.

No wonder many haram khores in Pakistan made sure that the country stoops down from 120 to 140th on the scale of world's most corrupted nations.

Many "overseas lot" is much, much much more sincere to Pakistan than many, many corrupt haram khores in the general Public of Pakistan, can ever be.

Not many Pakistanis enjoy living in the foreign lands - many many want to come back home.
But many of those living in Pakistan, have turned the country into a living hell. What have YOU done make it easy for foreign Pakistanis to come back home and easily settle down here?

If Pakistanis living in Pakistan had provided a social culture of honesty, allegiance towards the country and abiding the law - SCORES of "overseas lot" would happily return home.

Hur taraf jhoot, dhoka, rishwat khori, haram khori, najaiz, doosron ka haq maarna, zulm, na insaafi - this is what many Pakistanis have done to Pakistan - and you talk about the "overseas lot"? Shame on you!

Historically speaking, if the voting majority of Pakistanis knew what’s good for the country, and if this majority had any honesty in their day to day matters of life and with their work? the country wouldn’t have been pushed under a $105 Billion debt, and ranked so high on corruption scale.

These people would pay their due taxes on time and work hard and worked honestly at their jobs - they would abide by the law and stood up against corruption to bravely stand with the truth.

IMO, we may not even have 10% honest and righteous people left. I say, in a country that was created in the name of Islam, it’s almost impossible to earn halal Rizq and survive.

And then they have the audacity to point fingers at the “overseas lot” who supposedly “doesn’t understand how things work in Pakistan and they don’t understand what’s good for Pakistan?
While ironically enough, this overseas lot of about 9 million remits $30 Billion a year to Pakistan, in comparison to $5 Billion the 250 Million Pakistanis in Pakistan pay in taxes.
Dishonesty and hypocrisy displayed by a dysfunctional bunch is amazing.

Man I am not someone out of country, I have been working here under PTI government in hsopital, I ma not agreed with you sorry.
