Hasan Ali to Wayne Parnell in the Pakistan vs South Africa match | Ball of the year?

For me, one of the most memorable dismissals that just don't come too frequently. Before this the one delivery that really stuck with me as Ashwin to Amla in some T20 tourney. This one right up there and one of the best ever!

    A 10/10 delivery

Hasans probably my favourite player now. He really blends his abilites with the bowl with his tactical brain. Something a certain wahab riaz hasnt learnt to do at the age of 36.

Plus his two catches were vital considering his drops in the past.

Just too bad about his haircut.

A good delivery but frankly, it was just Parnell's inadequate ability as a batsman that made it look so good.

The good thing about Hasan is that he targets the stumps which is why we see a lot of batsmen getting bowled. It's been a long time since we had such a bowler. Amir, Junaid, Wahab and Irfan mostly had the batsman LBW or caught behind.

Amir has bowled some beauties that beat the bat. He was very unlucky not to take wickets, which he would have if he wasn't unlucky. I remember about 5 deliveries that are among the best "wicket-less" deliveries I have ever seen, so they are my top 5 and Hasan's is my 6th. Also, bear in mind that Hasan would not have produced this delivery if it wasn't for the pressure Amir was exerting from the other end.

All fair but the only really 'good' balls are those that get wickets.

You take a tennis ball , tape it with simple plastic electric insulation tape and you have your tape ball ready. The bats are lighter in size and weight and you don't need any protection at all. The ball swings a lot in air and comes to batsman at a great speed.

What we used to do in my gully was to rip the tape a little bit on one side. Every bowler became the second coming of Philander or Asif swinging it like crazy, but it evened out the odds between bat and ball. Used to be a lot of fun.

A typical field setting had one or two slips which is unheard of in gully cricket LMAO.

It also mattered what tennis balls were used. On normal days we used to use the Rs. 15 "Made as Taiwan" balls (that is not a typo it did say made as, any Pakistani lad can attest to that fact). For special matches all the boys pooled money and bought Rs. 80 -100 Dunlop or Head balls. Those came faster but also went faster

Never played with the Wilson? You could replicate batting on a Perth wicket with that ball.

The extra bounce is not feasible in the streets of Pakistan. The ball always ends up on the roof of some cranky uncle who refuses to give it back.

Yes man, Wilson is great. 10x better than the bakwaas Penn balls.

Also with tape ball, when it is new it spins more, and when it is old, it spins less.

They had these balls in Pakistan: Shield 41 or something like that. Those were the best.

Another thing that matters a lot is tape quality, cheap tape gets torn off after a few overs.

Nitto tape used to be one of the more popular ones back in the day.

The white colored Shield 41 were the best, albeit being a bit expensive. The perfect ball was Shield 31 with the tag of 'Made in Taiwan' (not as). They were cost effective, perfect bounce and lasted for quite a while.

I believe it still is quite popular, although there are some other Chinese variants as well these days. Haven't really played Tape ball in a while so I am just guessing here at best.

Woh to hona hi hai. Feels much better hooking a nice Wilson ball into someone's balcony than slogging a "Made as Taiwan" thing into their lawn.

Granted I have barely played street cricket in Pakistan so perhaps I don't feel the pain of the people who have matches there every weekend.

Reminded me of the Amir delivery to Johnson in the Aus v Pak Test in England in 2010.

Thing is that's the typical Amir delivery. Swinging into the right-hander and away from the left-hander. The Hasan delivery was a little more difficult, in my opinion.

One hell of ball. To swing from that angle is incredibly difficult being a rightie.

Dont forget hasan is a right hander. Look at the angle he had to negate in order to miss the outside edge of the bat.

Amir's delivery is similar to the one junaid khan bowled to yuvraj singh in aane do series.

Plus Junaid's delivery was bowled to arguably a better batsman. Amir's was also equally good and one top delivery. Here Hasan has really bowled a Jaffa here as well

Had nothing to do with Parnell's inability.

It swung late. That's unplayable for most batsmen.

its a good ball but not that much good you are writing about. It was made good by parnell by playing across. He looks to play on leg side.

Yah hassans delivery was difficult to face because it just seamed away , usually direction of swing indicates which was ball will seeam but definitely swinging the ball leg stump to hit the offstump is always a more difficult delivery to bowl plus it was pitched up and still moved away miles.

Biased people lie so bad sometimes I feel like smacking them black and blue. That delivery would have outdone the best of batsmen let alone Parnel who was made to look like he was playing a different sport out there. I was already being too humble calling it all of the year when it is actually a contender for ball of the decade probably. As good as anything I've watched ever. Give the youngster credit where it's due!

Hello hello... wut happened all of a sudden ?
Aamir was unlucky ? wasnt he always supposed to be "crap" for not getting wickets and now his wicketless deliveries are supposed to be in the top five this year ?

People are complaining why didn't Hasan Ali bowl out a top order batsmen? That's because all the TOP ORDER BATSMEN WERE ALREADY GONE!!! Hasan is used all the time as a middle overs bowler, when he was brought as to bowl, all those top order batsmen were already out!! He bowled this delivery on the FOURTH OVER of his spell!!

This was an incredible delivery, definite contender for ball of the year but Chris Morris' ball to get out Joe Root today trumps this ball by miles

just a regular yorker but root was late on it because of his upright stance and high backlift. hasan's ball was magic.

Regular yorkers rarely swing extremely late to go from heading a foot down leg to clipping off stump.

Lately, we have been hearing a lot how Amir's in swinging delivery is not working well because he is bowling too far away from the wicket; well, both these balls were delivered while being quite far away from the stumps as well!

Both were good/great balls but due to level of difficulty and the angle involved (Hassan being right arm and around the wicket), Hassan's ball was much better and would have gotten most if not all the batsmen out

I am not judging the bowlers here , both are good bowlers. Hassnas delivery was a seamer and was a damn good delivery but as a batsman you find it really hard ti couter both seam and swing at the same time . it was destined to
Pitch outside leg but because swing it pitched on leg bu the batsmen could still have played the line of the angle of swing but after pitching it moved away which is almost impossible to tackle.

    Just my two cents.

I loved watching Hassan's one live and changed our momentum in CT

But Morris to Root was just so amazing. He made one of the best test batsman look like a tail ender. Won the game for SA. Root was in great great form too had no answer
