No, not at all. Panday is doing a fine job and is on the rise with both bat and ball. He will be the allrounder India was seeking all this time. If you ask me, in a couple of years, he will be right up there with the likes of Shakib and Stokes (modern day AR). As for Ashraf, i'll reserve my judgment over his ability for now since I have not seen him play much.

Pandya will always come on top, heres why:

India is a more professional board and knows how to manage and take care of their players, both of these newbies are fresh, although hardik has more experience, whichever board will have more trust and investment in their all rounder will show which of them come on top.

Hardik also participates in the IPL which is much better than the PSL as more goes into the former, there are more international stars, pitches that will test his bowling and enable him to hone his hitting skills.

Right now there is no saying if Fahim has natural talent as he has not even batted yet, his bowling right now seems erratic, got lucky with Chandi's wicket as it was dragged on.

We shall see my friend... we shall see...

    ......

actually true.... bowling wise, they have similar speeds but Pandya has much better control but then he has been playing high level cricket for a good 12-18 months. batting wise, i think Fahim might have an edge on him.. havent seen much but he looks good...

lets see if he gets a PSL contract and how he performs there and hopefully he is picked by Lahore as he would benifit by working with Aaqib....

Pandya could easily rival Stokes as the best all-rounder in the world if he focuses on his batting and gets more chances up the order, which I suspect he will after Dhoni leaves. He's a very talented young cricketer who will be an integral part of India's 2019 campaign.

Fahim is relatively new at this point but I feel he has raw talent like so many Pakistani players and if that's groomed properly then he could be that seamer/hitter we have desperately needed.

And yes they both look quite similar. Bowling actions are quite similar too

A large part of Pandya's games is his mental focus. Watch his face as he walks to the beginning of his run-up.

And why is that? Pandya is an ordinary cricketer right now. The definition of bits and pieces. Cant form an opinion on Fahim Ashraf until he's played a few matches.

Great fielder, very good striker, can bowl a bit. Works hard on his fitness and oozes star quality. Doesn't look ordinary to me, India have been looking for someone like him. I will be surprised if Fahim doesn't fade away like Anwar and Bhatti.

Let me pull an Akmal and Sehzad here and claim that he is a youngster and has all the time to learn.

He just started and he is just 23, he is already a known name and looks like improving with time.

Having bigger stars in team also keeps his ego in check, and with the mentors in the team he seems to be on the right path.

Russel is a freak, one of the most gifted athletes to ever play the game, but Pandya is the new blue-eyed boy of Indian cricket. Everyone in India rates him highly and he is going to get ample opportunities. As I said, he reminds me a bit of a young Jadeja.

As far as Fahim is concerned, we have seen such players come and go for Pakistan. I hope he bucks the trend, but I won't be surprised if we add him to the Anwar/Bhatti/Hammad/Tanvir/Imad/Nawaz list, and they all started on a good note. Not a single all-rounder has lived up to the hype. Shadab is an exception because he makes the team purely as a bowler, and his batting is a bonus.

Imad is mediocre but is still a starter in the team and is certainly better than the others.

dont get me wrong given pakistan's inability to produce a good allrounder since Abdul Razzaq I would not mind Pandya at all, but I dont see him as a potential great all rounder, decent at best. He is far too bits and pieces imo

That's because you probably haven't seen him bat much. He didn't start bowling until a couple of years ago, so his bowling is definitely a work in progress. But his batting is decent. He's not just a legside hack. He can score on both side of the wicket, has a competent defense as well. He's a bonafide lower middle order batsman who can give you a bit of bowling. And he has decent pace for an allrounder. If he keeps improving, he may yet develop into a quality allrounder.

Forget great, even if he's just good - not even very good - he will be a huge difference maker to the Indian team. They already have the other departments checked off - batting, quality spin, quality pace, decent 'keeping prospects. And because of that, his numbers will be bumped up to probably better than deserved.

Kohli will lead the team for another 7-8 years so the current generation of Indian players will not get a chance to lead the team. That leaves the likes of Pandya, KL Rahul and perhaps some of the other young players who are yet to establish themselves such as Pant, Samson etc. as strong contenders.

Pandya is rated very highly in Indian cricket circles. From BCCI to Kohli himself, they all consider him a big player in the making. He is the new Jadeja (before he become a world class spinner in Tests) and will be a fixture in the team. Not to forget, he has some star quality as well. I'd say at this point, he is very likely to be a strong candidate in the future.

Most importantly, he lead India A against Australia earlier this year. A clear indication that BCCI are looking at him as a potential future captain. Hence, the idea of Pandya leading India after Kohli may not be as outlandish as you think.

There indeed is little resemblance. Pandya has sunken cheeks like professional athletes do, and Faheem has puffed up cheeks like those who live well do.

Right. Cheeks are one of the places where body fat tends to accumulate. A chubby face is a sure sign of someone who won't have the endurance of a top athlete.

hardik pandya is star quality even now.

fahim ashraf's biggest achievement so far is a 50 in a warm up game.

    no comparison at the moment.

So he's played 2 games and one game he practically won on his own.

Sorry bit Pandya isn't Star quality yet, he's a bit of a spin Basher and lacks bowling awareness. I think he was dropped from the Indian team for getting too predictable with his Short Bowling.

Pandya's effortless 90 meter sixes against spin and pace is going to make oppositions think twice about their bowling changes. He is the guy who scored 34 runs in one over in a domestic match. Definitely will be very handy. He also hits 140 k easily. Also very athletic fielder. He is a genuine all rounder who is not bad in any one of the department. He is a much improved version of Yusuf Pathan who himself can be lethal on his day.

Pandya is getting the Sir Jadeja/Rohit treatment where the captain will stick with him even if he fails quite a bit because they see something in him. Hopefully Pakistan will do the same with their youngsta beauties.

Considering that India doesnt have three outstanding fast bowlers so Pandya will remain playing with two seamers an two spinners.

While for Faheem its difficult to play a lot of matches with three world class fast bowlers Amir, Junaid and Hassan but Faheem will definitely remain in the team and will play instead of Shadab or Imad against asian sides and favorable conditions.

So obviously Pandya is going to get more exposure of playing international matches but does he or does faheem turn out to be a better player only time will tell.

I actually know very little about Pandya. He's only played 10 games. By that benchmark i know absolutely nothing about fahim ashraf.
The general consensus would Pandya has had more exposure to big match situations than fahim.
Thats about as far as I can go.

First time I've really seen Pandiya and I'm impressed. Don't know what his batting is like but he looks a better bowler than Faheem by some distance from seeing them both after a game each. He bowls at around 140 for a start, whereas Ashraf is more like 135kph.

The biggest mistake I think Pakistan made is playing 2-3 spinners

I would would have added Rumman Raees over Shadab against India...

Indian spinners look so easy on this pitch.. and Indian batsmen will play better Pak spinner...

Rumman Raees could be a great option today as fourth fast bowler...

I think Fahim needs to be given a complete run to see his what he is made of. So far, he played a crucial little cameo against Sri Lanka in the Champion's trophy. I was there at the stadium an Everyone could sense that had it not been for his positive intent, we were there for the taking.

    Pandya has a headstart now.
He is now a surety in ODI and T20.
Tests , he has made good start with a 50 and 100 in 3 tests and cruical wickets when opposition was going strong even if SL was the mediocre opposition
Fielding and catching is also good.

Lets judge this after sometime, let them play for a year or two 1st and then lets see
Fahim looks talented but Pakistan is very poor at nurturing talent these days , whereas they way Dravid and his team helped Pandya on A-tour and the way Dhoni, Kohli and team management has backed Pandya he has improved a lot.
I am not sure what franchise Fahim plays for and who are the people he shares dressing room with in PSL but pandya is also lucky in that way

Also, let me just throw one more name into the mix. Ammad Butt looks a good prospect. Hits the ball clean and sweet and bowls quite quick as well. Tbh, this Pandya lad is better compared to Hammad Azam than to be compared to Faheem Ashraf (has a different skill set). Right handed Late-to-Middle Order batsmen who can use the long handle when set and who'll bowl about 6 to 7 overs. But one flaw which is apparent in Hardik's game is that he can only hit spinners while stationary on the crease. Oppositions have seemed to figure this out and just bowl at his legs, forcing him to play the sweep, which is unnatural to him. Faheem Ashraf on the other hand, is an absolutely ferocious hitter. If you don't believe me, just watch his innings vs Bangladesh Warm Up Match (the reactions of the crowd are hilarious). He doesn't use his front arm while bowling as much. If Azhar Mahmood Bhai fixes that, he'll gain atleast 5 more K's and a hostile indipper. All in all, both have great potential and I as a cricket fan am excited to see who'll end up where. Although my gut says that Faheem bhai is going to a very very good allrounder and will conquer the world with his hitting (don't ridcule me, it's my gut, which might be tilted because of patriotism ). But in all seriousness, my gut is very rarely incorrect, and he will achieve In Sha Allah.

I see similarities in both Fahim Ashraf and Hardik Pandya. Both are hard hitting batsmen who could provide 5-6 handy overs in an ODI. However Fahim must be given time to develop as Hardik has been on the scene for almost 1.5 years now
