Rabada suspended ,wow test series to be boring now and as usual Moen and Root come to party at expected times.
Broad performing well ,only one to whom conditions don't matter,2-3 years left in the tank hopefully an Ashes win in Aus.

Can't believe Saffers messed this up after such a good start.

Hoping for around 375. I honestly don't see us crossing 400 though.

Wonder if Graeme would have started the blockathon after 450+ was posted. Waste day 2, 3 and 5 for a comfy draw.

Root has done first tactical blunder during his captaincy, Proteas were struggling with spin of moeen and dawson, yet he took the new ball and brief momentum is with South Africa now, however they still trail by 165 runs.

There is some rain forecast for Monday, lets assume South Africa gets out right now, that leaves 55 overs left for today with a lead of 120. Poms play at 4 runs an over and score 220 at the end of day 3. That is lead of 340, we can assume Root will play 1st session tomorrow and declare with a lead of around 420-430. That will leave Proteas to negotiate 150 overs to save this test. Well very very hard task.

    England's to lose.

There's only 10% chance of rain on Monday according to the Met Office who are the most reliable source of forecasts.

England may look to bat for another 2 sessions, get a 400+ lead and insert SAF in before stumps tomorrow so they get at least an hour to bowl at them.

It'll take some record for SAF to avoid defeat here. Still 180 overs left - I believe Poms will bat till 35 minutes before Tea & set SAF something like 450+ in 130+ overs.

If SAF bats through, they should win, therefore I do believe unless it rains for costing at least 2 hours, this match is going to have a direct result : 95% in favor of ENG. That 5% won't have been there if Adil was bowling here on Day 5.

England will win this game. I think 300 plus should be enough. But can see England taking the lead past 400, they won't be in a rush as they will want the pitch to deterioate further. Moen caused enough problems in the 1st innings. Expecting him to cause more problems on a pitch that is deteriorating further.

    nice sarcasm .

Too much has been made of the quota system, it's good for SA cricket most likely, it encourages more of the population to get into cricket, as opposed to the rich white families (which isn't the players fault, that's just been the way it has been). And a larger talent pool = better cricketers. Just won't be overnight.

Always irritated me to no end when guys like Trott and KP used the quota system as an excuse. They just weren't good enough or unlucky not to get picked. Heck KP didn't even realise he was a proper batsman until he played county, before he was more an allrounder in SA, so not surprising he wasn't picked he wasn't as good then.

If SAF can knock England over quickly here they'll leave themselves with an outside chance of winning.

I still think England are favourites as chasing 250+ on this deteriorating, slow, double paced wicket that's offering turn will be tough.

The match could have been quite different had all the catches been taken. Looks like it's going to be a competitive series at least.

This morning actually indicates how tough it's going to be for SAF in 4th innings. I think, they lost the Test when allowed Poms to reach 450+ from 190/5 or so. Probably, England already has enough on board.

Actually, KP decided to move to U.K., when he lost his place in the Natal squad for someone named Ghulam Bodi. Definitely quota system hurting SAF cricket, but this is not new for them. They are trying to bring 85%+ community in cricket, which would need some sacrifice.

South Africa have been over the years a byword for discipline and professionalism.

However I've never seen them as sloppy in the field as they've been recently.

    Useless Dawson.

SA have a chance if Elgar and Amla score

I think, Rabada, Phillander, Amla & Mahraj makes the SAF team on merit. Bavuma is borderline, but I do tend to agree that he is benefited from quota. Only undoubted quota pick is JP. FaF & AB for JP & Bavuma (& Styen for Morkel) - SAF would have been ok.

SA probably would have won this Test if they took their chances.

England 279/7 after SA let them off time and time again.

SA definitely would have taken this Test.

Unless he picks few in 2nd innings, Dawson should end his Test career with unique batting figures of 66*, 0 & 0 - average of 33 isn't that bad.

How many runs did Root add after his first chance?

200 has been chased down at Lord's just three times (I was there when England got 277-3 against the Kiwis and Nasser brought up his hundred and won the match with the last shot of his career).

300 was chased down just once.

Now looking like England merely favourites to win, instead of 100% certain to win.

Much rather have this than a one-sided squash however.

After all the talk of a rained off draw. Probably won't be a Day 5 now lol. Or not much of one anyway.

Useful runs there from Bairstow.. A 300+ target is simply a different deal than anything under 300. England back to being favourites.

SA would be hoping for something like Smith-esque from any of their top batters. Now that would increase the fun for sure.

Proteas wasting the work they did in the first session.

Should have Rabada bowling to Wood.

About time Wood came to life in this match. Has been anonymous up to this point. Now needs to fully justify his selection by adding to these invaluable runs with some top order wickets.
