Best team in the world. The depth in the squad is frightening, they can field another team and still beat most the premier league teams

Madrid squad depth is insane hence anything short of league title this season is disappointing

In UCL too madrid will be heavy favourite but hat trick cl glory in this era is an uphill task

I always though that madrid is too careless about copa del rey trophies hope it changes this time

Raging Ronaldo 'persecuted' as appeal ban rejected

Madrid - Cristiano Ronaldo blasted his treatment from the Spanish Football Federation as "persecution" after his appeal against a five-game ban was rejected on Wednesday.

The World Player of the Year will miss the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona and Madrid's first four games of the season in La Liga.

"Impossible to be immune to this situation, 5 games!!" Ronaldo posted to his 108 million followers on Instagram.

"It seems to me exaggerated and ridiculous, this is called persecution!

"Thanks to my teammates for the support and the fans!!!"

The World Player of the Year was controversially sent off as Madrid won the first leg of the Super Cup 3-1 on Sunday at the Camp Nou.

Ronaldo had come off the bench to fire Madrid into a 2-1 lead but was booked for removing his shirt in celebration and then saw a second yellow card when referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea adjudged he had dived trying to win a penalty eight minutes from time.

After being shown the 10th red card of his career, Ronaldo then lightly pushed the referee.

On Monday the Spanish Federation (RFEF) issued Ronaldo with an automatic one-game ban for the red card plus an extra four-match suspension for the push.

Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has also expressed his anger at what he believes is an excessive punishment.

"When you look at everything that happened, to think Cristiano won't play five games with us... it is infuriating," Zidane said on Tuesday.

Ronaldo will be absent when Madrid begin their defence of La Liga on Sunday at Deportivo la Coruna as well as for home games against Valencia and Levante and a trip to Real Sociedad.

The Portugal captain will, though, be free to play when Madrid begin their Champions League campaign on September 12 or 13.

Madrid 2.0: An Era of Dominance?

I have been following ‘Los Blancos’ for quite some time now. I have seen the best team of the generation toy with us and have cried myself to sleep when they thrashed us 5-0, at the Camp Nou. I have seen their defender’s smug face when he had raised his hand gesturing how many goals his team had scored. Never will I forget their demigod’s audacity, when he nicked in the winner at the Bernabeu last season. Every defeat, every scar, is still quite fresh, but somehow this Supercup fixture has managed to make everything slightly easier to bear.

We have beaten Barcelona before, right? So, why is this victory so special? What makes this the best tie that we have played in a while? The scoreline, 5-1, is just one part of the story. El Clasicos have always been an even contest - Madrid with their explosive attack and wobbly defence; Barcelona with their brilliant build-up and the unearthly humanoid’s magic. In all the Clasicos where we had managed to one-up our rivals, there were always these little chances which could easily have tipped the tie in our bitterest’s favour. The match we played at the Bernabeu on 17th, however, is a glaring exception.

A two goal lead to protect and Zidane chose to keep the sensational Isco, the industrious Casemiro, and the flying Welshman on the bench. Cristiano had already received a 5-game ban earlier, and leaving 3 of their best players on the bench looked audacious, to say the least. Kovacic, after having a tremendous pre-season, started the match; but he has always been more adventurous than Casemiro, elevating Real to a higher brand of football. However, defensive lapses are usually easier to point out.

Kovacic, Kroos, and Modric were pitted against a 5-man midfield, with Sergi Roberto and Jordi Alba tucked in as wingbacks. Kroos, as usual, set the tempo, and Modric was at the heart of every silky passage of play. Kovacic, despite being out of position, played like he has been reprising the role for years. Sergio Ramos and Varane chased every ball, defended fiercely, and hardly gave an inch to Suarez and Leo.

The best wingbacks in the world, Carvajal and Marcelo, wreaked havoc on the flanks. Lucas Vasquez proved once again how influential he can be, given the opportunity. Marco Asensio, Madrid's and probably the world’s best young talent set the tone early on with an impeccable hit, catching Ter Stegan off-guard. Quick goals give you an early cushion, but one must always look to build on the opportunities rather than just sitting on them. Real Madrid tightened the screw, and Barcelona looked fragile as ever. Madrid’s midfield played at a standard which was a couple of notches higher than that of Barcelona, which didn’t change for the rest of the tie.

For me, Karim Benzema was the standout performer. A player, who has proudly played second fiddle to the club’s highest scorer, has once again proved how invaluable his contributions are. He dropped deep, stretched the defence and was like a live wire in front of Pique and co. The goal he scored, against all odds, demonstrates his insatiable hunger to push his team. With Cristiano out for the next four matches, Karim Benzema will have to emerge as a clinical centre-forward, and not just a man who has an unmatched link-up. Now, even if he manages only half of what he produced against Barcelona, we will cope without Cristiano, sweat free.

The match we played at Camp Nou had Clasico written all over it. Superb counters, fragile defence, and a superstar shining brightest against all odds. It also had controversial decisions, a shameless dive from their number nine, and an unfair call which has sidelined our record goalscorer for a significant time. Madrid coped, like they do more often than not, and ended the game with an unstoppable Marco Asensio stunner. The second leg at the Bernabeu gave us a glimpse of what could be the start of something equally ruthless and beautiful.

The way we dominated the game for the whole 90 gives my pessimistic self a little hope. For the first time in 40 Clasicos, we have dominated Barcelona in every single aspect, and yes, that includes possession. Maybe, we are not going to crash and burn this time. Maybe, we do have a chance to achieve the impossible. Maybe, Zizou will be the one who ends an era of Barcelona dominance, and starts a glinting white one. And now, with our first league match just hours away, there is this one song stuck in my head-

    “Historia que tu hiciste
    Historia por hacer
    Porque nadie resiste
    Tus ganas de vencer”
    Hala Madrid Y Nada Mas.

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane renews contract until 2020 without even negotiating terms

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has renewed his contract at the club until 2020, without even entering into negotiations, Marca is reporting.

The Frenchman has worked his magic wand ever since his appointment at Los Blancos by club President Florentino Perez in January 2016.

Apparently, the contract extension was just a formality as the 45-year-old didn’t even discuss the financial amount within the contract.

Having won seven trophies ever since his arrival, including two back-to-back Champions League titles in 2016 and 2017, Zidane could have asked for a raise, although he didn’t find it necessary.

With a contract extension now out of their way, Zidane and his men can now focus on defending their La Liga and European crowns this term.

An untouchable Real Madrid set to extend more key contracts

Real Madrid are the team to beat in Europe this season, and as they look to continue their dominance, five of the club's players - Isco, Marco Asensio, Marcelo, Dani Carvajal and Raphael Varane - are set to extend their contracts.

Since stepping up as first team coach, Zinedine Zidane has had his ideas endorsed by every member of the Los Blancos first team and that's why there are no doubts that his stars will continue at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Regardless of the panic in Barcelona at their failure to keep Neymar at the Camp Nou, the capital city side have been consistent in prolonging the contracts of their own vital performers, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric renewing last season.

Aside from the five aforementioned, Karim Benzema is the sixth man who isn't far off extending his stay, whilst Zidane has renewed his own deal until 2020, as reported by MARCA.

Madrid's ability to continue with its important spine demonstrates the harmony between every squad and staff member at the European champions.

In a bid to fend off unwanted interest, the LaLiga side have a strong and prompt protocol in relation to securing their player's rights, with only the lack of signatures now preventing the club from making the contract extensions official.

One of the most crucial renewals is for Malaga-born Isco, the magician who helped steer his side to success in the dying stages of last season. The midfielder has started 2017/18 strongly and has been given the confidence to express himself on the pitch alongside his teammates.A contract until 2021 and a colossal 700 million euros release clause is on the cards.

Next in line is Asensio, the 21-year-old continuing to dazzle during every opportunity he gets. Despite only renewing in 2016, he is expected to pen to paper to keep him in Madrid until 2023.

As for the experienced and ever-present full-backs, both Marcelo and Carvajal have become the rightful and undisputed owners of their positions and both will sign on until 2022.

Playing until the end of the proposed new contract would bring the Brazilian to the age of 34 and 15 seasons as a Madridista, whilst his Spanish defensive partner would be 30 by then.

In the centre of defence, Varane will stay at the club until 2022 at least, after becoming a main fixture alongside Sergio Ramos in Madrid's back four.

Benzema's current contract ends in 2019 and this will be extended for a further two years.

Karim Benzema will probably retire with 3rd highest individual goal tally in the history of Champions League, just after Cristiano and Messi And our future generations will believe what a terrific striker he should have been.

He is the living example that stats can be inflated
