Like Chief Destroyer said, there is no rush.
Just saw Usman Khalid's innings.... seems like an entertainer.

I didn't know about the early start today so missed pretty much all of Gauhar Hafeez's 80.

Khalid's innings was one of the few times a batsman in this tournament cleared the boundary with ease.

Some of the shots weren't great and there is obviously work to be done, but he played the pacers particularly well and looked very strong on the off side (just look at some of those shots over cover).

    @saeed5646

You asked me whether there were any decent offspinners in this tournament.

Ahmer Ajaz played his first match for Layyah today and picked up 3-29 against Faisalabad.

Was getting good turn and bounce (both with his stock and quicker delivery) and varied his speed well. Was getting good loop too.

His action reminded me a little bit of a right handed Abdur Rehman.

If there's a replay or highlights on at sometime then I'll see what can be done.

Layyah’s opening batsman M Nadeen has potential. Scored 74 (55) against Bahawalpur which he then followed up with a 57 (37) against Faisalabad, both whilst chasing.

Has a strong frame, and some of the shots he played brought back memories of Inzi, and I’m not just saying that because of his build! The difference is Nadeem rotates the strike well, as he is able to play with soft hands as well as clear the boundary.
He is particularly strong against pacers, and the shots that took him to 6 and 28 in his innings against Faisalabad (both off Ehtisham Sultan no less) were Sharjeel-esque. Picks up length well and looks like he has plenty of time when batting. Was pretty innovative too- wasn’t afraid to reverse sweep or play the scoop, against spinners and fast bowlers alike.

That said, he’s by no means the finished article. He tried over-hitting the ball a few times and he ended up looking ugly and hacking it. He has the time and power to find the boundary with proper cricket shots, so he needs to stop trying to hit it so hard. Also needs to develop his boundary hitting shots against the fuller length, particularly through the covers- doesn’t really seem to play the drive.

Lahore– 6th October, 2017: Rawalpindi Express, world’s fastest and most fearsome bowler Shoaib Akhtar joined Lahore Qalandars as a mentor. Chairman, Lahore Qalandars Fawad Rana announced and introduced Shoaib as the new acquisition of Qalandars at a Press Conference in Gaddafi Stadium alongside a panel which included Director Cricket, Aqib Javed, C.E.O Lahore Qalandars Atif Rana and the new fast bowling prodigy Haris Rauf who was spotted bowling at a speed of 92mph during the talent hunt in Gujranwala.

Today's semi final should be good.

Some excellent players in both teams (Pindi and Layyah).

Zeeshan Malik, Sajawal Riaz, Kamran Ghulam, Rohail Nazir, M Nadeem, Ajmer Ajaz, Usman Khalid etc.

Not too many pacers on show though, from memory.

Sohail Ahmed (39 off 18) and Rohail Nazir (29 off 12) batted beautifully. Some very impressive strokes and scored at excellent strike rates, especially in the last few overs.

Zeeshan Malik (38 off 28) also batted well. Didn't get a chance to watch Sajawal Riaz bat.

Zeeshan looked so good today, was in full flow. It's a shame he got out when he did as he was looking unstoppable.

Just watched- Riaz looked good for his 13 but unfortunately couldn't press on.

I did say Pindi's bowling was weak, and it showed.

Great effort from Layyah to chase 177 in a semi. I know Sikander top scored for them, but to be honest Usman Khalid impressed me more. He backed up the 46 he scored in the previous game with 32 today.

Meanwhile, Bilal Shah Afridi had a day to forget will the ball.

I agree with your assessment. Looks pretty decent in terms of the raw ingredients but obviously control is not there at this stage.

At any rate, it's nice to see an actual off-spinner in action.

Good catch. Here's the video of his 57, will try and locate the other knock as well. Some effortless shots there.

He's bowling with Ameer at the other end- two quick tall bowlers complimenting one another nicely.

    Mamoon Ur Riaz:

Picked up 2-13 from 2.5 overs in his first match
1-23 from 4 overs in his second match
0-22 from 4 overs in his third match

Bowled a very good first over today, and just as I type he takes his second wicket today.

    Called it.

5-17 from 3.4 overs. Was on a hat-trick at one point.

To the naked eye, it looked as though he was bowling a yard or two quicker today.

Lahore's probably the fastest pitch in the country atm and he made most of the bounce. Like Irfan, he's not a finished product but the raw ingredients are there. Irfan did the same thing last tournament. He's booked his ticket to Australia and I have a feeling Aussies are gonna like him just as they did with Irfan.

How many of these players are progressing to the main squad? And are the likes of Irfan Jr, Mudassar and Badar going to remain apart of the squad, as none of the aforementioned trio were retained.

Yes, he definitely made the most of conditions today.

Good thing is he still performed on the lifeless pitches in Muzaffarabad which shows he is not just a one trick pony.

From what I recall, Irfan was a little erratic in Australia but improved as the tour went on. Obviously conditions will be unfamiliar, but the likes of Ameer and Mamoon may well enjoy the pace and pounce of Australian pitches, especially with their height.

I suspect Ameer Hamza might miss out.

LQ will more likely than not go with four genuine pacers with Mudassar Riaz as the the bowling all-rounder. Harris Rauf, Ehtisham Sultan and now Mamoon are a given. That leaves the likes of Ali Raza, Hamza himself, Kaleem and Irshad competing for a single spot.

Last year, they took five pacers plus Mudassar Riaz as the bowling all-rounder, which takes the total to six. If they repeat that this year, then I would be surprised if Ameer misses out. In any case, he has still got the final to put in (another) good performance.

You're right I missed the left-armer that was apart of last years squad. Anyhow, even if he does make the squad I doubt he'll get a game aside from the practice games against Uni and grade teams.

Let him get on the plane first!

Why do you think they will prefer to play the others over him?

Rauf and Irshad (if selected) have been selected on potential rather than any stand out performance this tournament.

Ameer's pretty damn good. If he's self taught, that's quite impressive.

Mamoon's a bit dangly. He needs to become more compact and linear. A bit more extension of the front leg to generate pace from bottom up instead of top down. Right now he's coming over the front leg but not really catapulting himself. Let's hope he gets the right training and technical coaching.

    Picked up the dangerous Nadeem.
