Give Sami a break.. Guy is making a comeback and you want him to hit sixes that too when few overs are left for the day.

    The Sami awakens!

Ending today with an unbeaten half century partnership will leave us going into Day 3 with a good note. If it's done, they need to score 250-300 tomorrow. Not sure this match is winnable unless they can get to 600-700 by mid-day day four.

Why so much hate for Sami, he is the best opener we have(considering Azhar will not open again, which is a bummer to me)...Shan can only thrive on dead wickets, seeing off new ball against Broad/Anderson/Woaks that to in Edgebaston is no joke, you skills are tested there not here

Don't know. I'm confused too. I'm sure these same posters had Sami to start with Azhar in what they hoped the Test XI would be....

And you made that assessment after 6 off 15 sessions?

Tomorrow we need to go hell to leather and knock off the remaining deficit... Then we bat for half of day four and add another 150-200. Give us a day and a half to dismiss Lanka.

Nice idea, but really not sure if we can score 350 runs, even on a Day 3 pitch unless SL is absolutely awful or our batsmen are absolutely spectacular.

I had made this assessment much before the series when some people opined that Pakistan would roll over Sri Lanka just because India did so. I had stated then that Sri Lanka were not as week as they were made out to look by India.

The conditions are a lot easier to bat on. When even the likes of Anderson, Broad, Starc etc are rendered useless, you know the conditions are hopeless for fast men.

Good start from our openers here, we need to look to bat all off day 3 tomorrow and get up and level with SL atleast on 1st inns, there should be no rush with the batting, just need to score at a good pace and bat solidly as our batsmen should all look to fill their boots in these conditions.

Pakistan 64/0 off 23 overs at Stumps. Shan Masood 30* off 74 balls and Sami Aslam on 31* off 65 balls.

I have no way of watching this match unfortunately so am only following the scorecard. How have Aslam and Masood been batting?
