The likes of Jahid, Hammad and Farhan need to be playing more FC cricket not this garbage tournament. Only other no hopers like Anwar Ali and Sami should be selected for this.

I still remember when Umar Akmal was dropped from the Test squad he was told to get more FC experience by Mohsin Khan, the selector at the time, only for him to select Umar in the HK 6's squad in the middle of the FC season. Our selectors are absolutely clueless.

This is a waste of time for Hammad and J Ali

Also as Tool Kit is captain, Hammad will probably be batting last

In these types of tournaments, you want players who can bat and bowl both of which Tanvir and Khan can do.

The only thing positive in all of this would be Sahibzada Farhan, which means that he is on radar of inzi. Otherwise same old players. Perhaps their selection is necessary to bring on the local public.

I don't think that looking to hit sixes on every ball is going to develop his game much.

Indian cricket fans can watch Hong Kong World Sixes as distributor lands big-name broadcast partners

Cricket Hong Kong’s host broadcaster for this weekend’s World Sixes has secured a potential audience of 180 million across all media platforms around the world – including India – but organisers will be happy if they can exceed the 12 million online views they received for March’s Hong Kong T20 Blitz.

Global TV sports producer and distributor Sunset+Vine has landed some big-name broadcasters for the revived tournament, to be held this weekend at the Kowloon Cricket Club.

These include BT Sport in the United Kingdom, Neo Sports in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Fox Sports in Australia, Fox Sports Asia and Sky New Zealand, among others.

Also signed up is the online platform Unilad Sports, which has 860,000 subscribers.

India has traditionally snubbed the Hong Kong Sixes and Blitz in terms of sending teams and players but the country’s passionate cricket fans still tune in to the tournaments.

CHK broadcast consultant Gary Burchett hailed Sunset+Vine for signing up 21 partners in just over three weeks.

“We have a live audience reach of 180 million but we’re not going to get that many eyeballs,” said Burchett. “The 2017 Blitz received 12 million views and we would like to think that with this established event we can comfortably eclipse what we did in the Blitz.

“That was five days of content while the Sixes is two days of cricket. The last time the Sixes was on, in 2012, live streaming was not really a concept.

“In many instances this is a real test for us, it is the foundation and a blueprint for how cricket can be enjoyed around the world.

“Cricket Hong Kong’s aim is very clear in that it wants to take the Sixes to all corners of the world, and that’s what we are trying to do.”

Apart from broadcast partners, the 22 matches over the two days will be shown live on Facebook and YouTube, while fans can also watch the action and obtain updates on a CHK mobile app that will be available for downloading from today.

A major boost for the tournament is landing broadcasters Neo Sports and D Sports in India, with a potential audience of tens of millions.

“India was a huge market for us and when you look back at the Blitz, India was by far and away our biggest demographic,” said Burchett.

“They are the most passionate cricket country on earth so to have Indian broadcasters on board is a great boost for us.”

Sunset+Vine is the official television and media producer and distributor for the ICC and the company’s standing in world cricket has helped attract broadcasting partners for the Sixes.

“To secure a production partner in the calibre of Sunset+Vine and then to be able to attract broadcasting partners such as Neo, Fox and Astro, in Malaysia, BT in the UK in addition to some premium corporate partners such as Accenture, Hublot and Virgin is an impressive accomplishment,” said Burchett.

    http://www.scmp.com/sport/article/21...captain-sohail

Pakistan captain Sohail Tanvir said he never thought he would be given another chance to win the Hong Kong World Sixes as the tournament returns for the first time since 2012.

Sohail was part of the Pakistan team who won the 2011 event, beating England in the final and he is delighted to be leading his side this weekend at the Kowloon Cricket Club.

Inaugural champions in 1992 with a team featuring legendary bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, Pakistan face Hong Kong, defending champions South Africa and Marylebone Cricket Club in pool A of this year’s edition.

“I was in the UK a few weeks ago and heard that the tournament was happening again,” said Sohail. “I really thought it had gone forever so it’s good that it has come back.

“It’s fun cricket but obviously at the same time when you play for your country you can’t take anything for granted and you take it seriously.

“Three of us have played before and we how it goes with super sixes. You have to have a good strategy and I think with our team, we have five all-rounders, so we have a very good chance of winning it.”

Also returning to Hong Kong are Hammad Azam and Anwar Ali, with former test players Mohammed Sami and Sohail Khan, 21-year-old Sahibzada Farhan and Jaahid Ali completing the squad.

Hong Kong Sixes 2.0 – cricket-fest to make hi-tech, explosive return in October

Pakistan’s first match will be against Hong Kong, who have several players in the squad with Pakistani roots. Sohail, however, said his team would go all out for the win.

“We know most of the players in the Hong Kong team but when you are wearing your country’s jersey, you forget about who you are playing against and focus on the game and winning.”

Pool B features Australia, New Zealand Kiwis, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Organisers are this year using a forgiving format in which all teams can go into Sunday with a chance of winning the title. After a round-robin, the team with the best record face the side with the worst performances in the quarter-finals. Second play seven, third take on sixth and the fourth-best team face fifth for a place in the semi-finals.
