    Presenting... the rejuvenated Mohammad Hafeez!

Looking very positive from ball one which is amazing given the sleepy batting we have seen today! But is he here to stay?

great in context of the day

More broadly speaking this is player desperately grabbing on

We are just delaying the inevitable at our own expense.

A series like this is when you try new players before 2019.

Do we honestly think that Malik and Professor will be much good there ?

If professor would bat at 6 it would be bearable for the team and better for him but sadly his ego doesnt allow it.

So well done for today thus far, but we have all seen this movie before

Hafeez against his favorite whipping boys, that defeatist mentality has gone ever since those series defeats to Australia and Pakistan staring down the barrell of an iffy World Cup qualification. He's playing like a player who was crucial in winning us the CT. The man has seen many ups and downs in life, needs to use this intent to play aggressive cricket and show his class as a batsman, we all know he does possess

Everyone who has seen Hafeez for a long time would know that during the past year before the CT final and even during the Ct group stage match against India, he looked like a player who wanted to get his selfish 30s and 40s so that he can keep his place in the side. PLaying at a strike rate of 50 meanwhile.

This is a player now who is playing free from all the stress of position in the side... who has achieved something for his country, maybe its the relaxation he needed as a player to perform

that was a totally different situation. He came in with 10 overs and 7 wickets left, there's only one way to play in that situation

but he looks great today, hopefully he carries this approach

Im more than happy with the intent hes shown in this game and the final

Yes it may be cos hes under pressure but whatever the reasoning it can only help pakistan If hes gonna play this is how he needs to

The others need to follow suit Babar, shezad and co

Either play at a strike rate of 90+ or please make way

There's a reason he averages 30+ in International cricket... But if he plays like this I don't mind the average of 30 honestly, if Babar is playing as accumulator others need to play quickly around him so that we can reach 300.

This is still a very sluggish effort by Pakistan, mainly thanks to Babar Azam's slow batting

I would be okay with Hafeez in the team if he opened with fakhar, but because of him Haris Sohail is sitting on the bench and that's unacceptable to me.

Because he has bottled many big games where team hopes were on him. Played many WorldCups and did "Nothing" for the team. Loves to feasts on minnows and raise bats like no tomorrow.

Oh please- one swallow does not a summer make.

Hardly a surprise he did well against Sri Lanka. Has a decent enough record in UAE and plays spin well.

His inability to play pace and lateral movement still remains.

He is all over the Lankans with the ball as well, albeit illegally. In hindsight, it was a blunder not to play him in the Test series. Could have turned the series in our favor.

I agree with this. He is a professional Sri Lanka basher.

I think that target of 136 would have easily been chased if he was in the team.

I don't know why he's chucking, that new action was semi-working for him.

Would have been a target of 136 in the first place. He would have scored more runs than Masood and Aslam and would have been more useful with the ball than the pacers. It was a shocker of a decision.

Prof should have always batted at 5 or 6 ... I've been saying it since his return in 2010. That's his spot where he can just come in and unleash. But yeah post CT, he should have retired to leave on a high instead he carries aye Professor aye!

MIG you are so easily fooled. SL is the one team Hafeez always saves his best for, the novelty will wear off and same mediocre will be seen in a few months time.

His dismissal today showed why he needs to be dropped.

Incapable of playing pacers, especially when it is bowled outside off stump. Any lateral movement and he is a sitting duck.

The only way he can be useful to the team is batting at 6 but even there we might have better options.

He remains a stroke maker so batting after the 30th over might suit him more. Not sure if you want to invest in a 37 year old.
