Unlike most of the Pakistani bowlers videos on YouTube, hasnains doesn't look like it's been sped up and still he look's pretty fast.

I think, Misbah is getting lots of bashing from posters who haven't seen the IU squad carefully - I am sure this is the youngest squad & potential starting XI, even including grand pa at 44. However, if I am to give anyone credit, it has to be Deano - he had been vocal about PAK team's age many times and I can see what he has done there; next year Misbah, Sami, Ronchi gone and it'll be the youngest T20 side around. It's an ideal T20 squad with so many exciting all-rounders & hitters down the line. If Misbah was like 2007 (that's about 10 years younger), this was the team to beat, but I feel now grand pa'll cost the team, BECAUSE their weakness is in top order batting and Misbah is going to play the most vital role - a failure from other batting Captains (Mac, Malik) won't affect their team like IU. MUH is really struggling at BPL to manage run a ball (in fact probably even lower & less runs are coming from middle of bat) and here he'll face much better attack on probably tougher batting conditions. Still, if the chemistry works with such young team, it can surprise anyone. Another advantage for them is, they have taken full advantage of the flawed emerging player rule - both of their emerging players should have been starter any way and instead of a rookie, they can slot a regular player.

    Starting XI is likely -

    1. e~Farhan
    2. ^Ronchi+
    3. Talat
    4. Misbah*
    5. ^JP
    6. Asif
    7. ^Russell
    8. Shadab
    9. Fahim
    10. Sami
    11. ^Badree

Very good XI - replace Misbah with any other Platinum/Diamond No. 4 (KP, Malik, Shakib, Watto, Lynn, Sanga, Rossoue .........), this would have been the XI to beat. Still, they'll give LQ/KK the best fight for the Finals.

Some decent international selections. Not sure why people are giving IU stick for selecting Ronchi. He was on fire in CPL and IU need some experienced hands to guide the youngsters.

Only selection I can't forgive is cha-cha Ifti.
Hope people have now worked out why Ronchi was picked.

    Very underrated selection by IU.

"Absence of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif won't be felt (by Islamabad United)" : Saeed Ajmal

Spin legend Saeed Ajmal on Wednesday dismissed the notion that the absence of banned cricketers Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif would be greatly felt by Islamabad United in the 2018 Pakistan Super League.

Sharjeel was one of the stars of the tournament's inaugural edition in 2016, which Islamabad United won, while Latif was his teammate — both at the franchise and international levels.

The duo was handed multiple-year bans by a Pakistan Cricket Board-appointed tribunal last year after being found guilty in a spot-fixing scandal that rocked the nation in the first week of the 2017 tournament.

A genuine contender for the title, Islamabad never truly recovered from losing two of its most important batsmen so early in the tournament and surrendered the title they had won the previous year.

While that may have been then, Ajmal, who is the Islamabad-based franchise's spin bowling coach, says his side has since moved on.

"The absence of Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif will absolutely not be felt," Ajmal told newsmen at a franchise event on Wednesday.

He, however, refrained from discussing the matter any further, saying: "I don't want to talk about what they did."

Ajmal appeared to back United for the PSL 2018 title, reminding the fans that despite the crisis it endured "Islamabad United is the winner of one edition and was a semi-finalist in the other."

One of the world's premier spin bowlers in his heyday, Ajmal has moved into coaching since retiring from cricket last year. He says his new target is to excel in his post-retirement career.

"My performance as a cricketer is in front of everyone," he said. "Now I want to make a name for myself in coaching."

Yh regardless, every team would have to make retentions and release some players at the end of the season
Sharjeel would have no doubt been retained (if he remained in the same category), but Khalid Latif could have easily gone

Replacing Sharjeel was the biggest challenge and though they suffered in PSL2, they have plenty of options going into PSL3 I.e. Luke Ronchi, Alex Hales, Sahibzada Farhan etc

Both should be there and the Lahore left handed Opener-WK as well (forgot name) - PSL is paying multiple times to the likes or Pooran & Walton just that there is an option of 4 foreigners. And, then these players decline to play in PAK. IPL is playing Samson, Patn, Kishan as WK, instead of bringing foreigners just for the sake of it

HBL PSL Player update (Islamabad United):
    Lahore February 13:

England all-rounder Samit Patel will join Islamabad United for HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018. Patel comes in as a replacement for Sri Lankan all-rounder Asela Gunaratne who will miss the season due to a national team training camp.

Patel brings a wealth of experience to the United squad with 214 T20 games, 4174 career runs and 178 wickets.

England fast bowler David Willey has had to pull out due to a pre-season county tour, Willey’s compatriot Steve Finn, who was earlier drafted as a partial replacement for Willey, will now be available for the full tournament.

Unsure how I feel about it even though Islamabad United is the team i support. Samit just doesn't step up as a batsman in subcontinent neither is his bowling that good. Although on paper, he brings a wealth of experience and has been in brilliant form in last 12 months.

Andre Russel speaking in an interview

"It's been very hard, very tough to be fully fit and not injured yet still unable to play the game. At the end of the day, when you do the crime, you have to do the time"

"I have nets at home and a bowling machine. I have guys that feed balls to me and make sure i'm in good shape"

"Being out of the game taught me alot. Watching all sorts of cricket helped me to understand the game even more because the best player sometimes is the spectator. I've learned alot and that's why i contributed a lot for Jamaica in the recent super 50"

"I've made sure that I implement what i've learned in the past couple of months into my game and I hope it continues till the end of my career"

"I don't like to set big goals but I always look to do well and get wickets and contribute to my team. I always look to make alot of runs and maybe even take a brilliant catch in the field"

"Getting run-outs is a bonus.I always set goals in my head but i don't like to say it because if i say I want to get 50 wickets and I don't achieve it then it's gonna make me look bad"
