Azhar is the superior batsman, so don’t see a problem.
I’d love to have Haris ahead of Hafeez though

I would love to be proven wrong but I don't see how Azhar is a superior batsman than Imam in ODIs. If anything, he is inferior due to performing only against low quality attacks barring the inning against India where as Imam has done well with the opportunity he has received.

Azhar is better than Imam at this stage, especially for these conditions. Imam is a good prospect but not ahead of Azhar at this stage

He’s been poor since the CT, whether that be the SL series, BPL etc.

And was the lack of runs due to a slump in form or because oppositions are working him over?

Yeah but he should be out there batting for the most amount of time.

He’s an accumulator and coming in when the platform has been set like this is not the ideal situation for him.

Azhar and Babar basically have the same role atm.

He was worked out after his first game in the CT but still managed to score runs in the tournament.

I see your point of Babar batting as an opener but we need to model our batting line up similar to India's where your best batsman comes in at #3. He needs to maintain a strike rate of 90 but also develop a thrid gear where he can hit bowlers out in the latter overs.

As far as Azhar is concerned, he simply isn't the player who will keep batting the way he is right now. We have repeatedly seen him bash low quality attacks and flop against the big teams over and over again. It's time we draft in another opener in place of Azhar and let Babar develop his game at 3.

We’ll see how he goes in this series but his credentials against the moving ball aren’t great, and you would expect so with the poor head positions.

Also has previously struggled against genuine quicks due to the lack of natural ability. If he survives upfront against Boult and Henry/Southee then it will be interesting to see how he fares against the pace of Lockie.

Those top edges will eventually go into the hands of fielders.

You're right that Fakhar has his large share of technical problems but I expect him to be treated similar to Sharjeel. He had his problems too when he came onto the scene but the management worked on his issues. Similarly, we should expect more control Fakhar's batting in the coming series.

He was worked out after his first game in the CT but still managed to score runs in the tournament.

Only had one game in the BPL anyway.
Yaar some people just have their agendas against particular players.

But but but Fakhar's century in CT was a fluke he is a leg side hack or off side hack depending on the particular match, and he has already achieved all he would achieve in his career. Please listen to me my opinion carries alot of weight because I have soooo many POTWs

Sharjeel always had the ability, he made one of the best attacks in the modern era look like a bunch of club bowlers. Fakhar, even if he were to iron out his technical deficiencies would not even be able to do 10% of the damage Sharjeel did in that series.

This series is a big test for Fakhar, and one that will ultimately decide whether he is international quality or not.

You have to be international quality to score a century in the final of a world event. He does not need a certificate of approval from an anonymous expert on the internet.

Babar seriously needs to work on his game against spin, for a sub-continental player he’s unusually poor against the spinners.

Fakhar has already achieved more than Sharjeel has in his career.

Sharjeel has not achieved 10% of what Fakhar did in the CT.

0(1) and 0(1) with one dropped catch would ideal.

That would not only drop him from the eleven it may also drop him from the squad in the next series.

New Zealand have put up a team of rookies. This is what Virat was talking about. The pitches provided for these games are nowhere close to the actual matches and the opposition is extremely poor. Some of these guys haven't even played first class cricket.

Scoring a century in the final of a world event does not prove anything about a players ability apart from mental toughness; which is something Fakhar has already proven to have a plethora of.

That would not only drop him from the eleven it may also drop him from the squad in the next series.
But then there is the excuse that he got two unplayable deliveries and didn't have a chance to play himself in.
