Rana Sanauallah comes on media and says why is the media highlighting the issue so much. The gall of this person.

As per Rana the media should have shut up about it and let Zainab after Zainab go to waste.

Inna lillaahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon.

The CCTV footage looks like the girl is walking with a man whom she already knows. The girl is not showing any apprehension while holding his hands.

And idiotic from the ruling party to play it down when such a sensitive issue is taking place. They should be supportive instead of this stupid comments from their leaders.

He said that the criminal would be caught in a few hours yesterday.

These guys are just hoping all the furore dies down so that they can get back to normal.

His main problem appears to be the 'destroying of public property', not the rapes/murders, anyway.

@Syed1 @DW44 looking at Rana's statements, I have a bad feeling they will 'catch' someone innocent or someone connected to another crime and blame it on him. This way the matter, like Rana wants, dies down and they get the credit for a 'speedy justice'.

Especially considering the likelihood the killer/rapist is a Sunni Muslim.

But you have to give a grieving father some benefit of the doubt. He's hurt and frustrated at the police and the investigating officer is an easy target.

    Obviously inappropriate though.

Very sad and horrible. As a father for a baby girl myself, it pains me to see the lack of safety around the world for the kids. Hope the guy is caught and is made an example of. India has failed to do so in spite of increasing abuse of women and children.

Given the pressure on ahmadis, i would expect an ahmadi to work harder to solve the case. Unless the sunni politicians threaten them using the Khatm e Nabuwat card.

According to a notification, Additional IG Abu Bakr Khuda Baksh, who was earlier assigned task, has been replaced by Multan Regional Police Officer DIG Muhammad Idrees.

It is actually a south east Asian mindset or more generally an ultra religious mindset. Same beliefs are prevalent in rural India ( more than 70% of India). Maybe Even Bangladesh but i have heard they are better in this regard.

South Asia, not SEA (that's the Indonesia, Malaysia region). And I wouldn't be surprised if a majority in India too had similar views. Their culture treats women just as poorly as ours does. Bangladesh I don't know much about but it's 86-87% Muslim so it can't be that great for women either.

Sometimes India's urban centres get way too much publicity and you see women roaming around wearing latest fashion but the fact is that 70% of India lives in rural areas. And thats where the sitiation is real bad. Even in cities women arent safe but i am talking about the lifestyle.

Bangladesh, i have heard is culturally a little more liberal (emphasis on little) and religion isnt considered like 100 times more important than anything else. This is what i have heard from some Bangladeshis but maybe the fellow BD posters can paint a better picture.

Tahir Heart Institution in Rabwah has always provided the same treatment to all of its patients regardless of faith.

Im sorry to say but comments at such a delicate time and matter in which the entire nation seems to be united only echos the severe sense of exclusion the Ahmadis are facing in Pakistan. This has to be one of the most hurtful things I have heard, its like saying Ahmadis and their expression of sympathy even in such a matter cannot be trusted

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday ordered the Inspector General Punjab (IGP) to arrest the culprit responsible for 6-year-old Zainab's abduction, rape and murder within 36 hours.

LHC Chief Justice (CJ) Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, who was hearing a petition filed by Advocate Shaheem Pirzada to arrest the culprit, expressed surprise that despite reports of earlier incidents of similar nature from Kasur, none of the cases were brought to the court.

The CJ ordered the police to submit details of all the cases of child sexual abuse that had taken place in the area, adding that he would also demand a report on the cases from the sessions judge.

Read: 'How long will it take before you all forget about my sister?'

The Inspector General of Punjab (IGP) insisted that the police "were working sincerely" to catch the criminal. He told the court that one person's DNA had been found in six cases of assault.

The CJ warned that the court would not tolerate any delay in the case, at which the IGP assured him that the culprit would be caught.

The hearing was adjourned until January 15.

On January 10, protests had erupted in Kasur after Zainab's dead body was found in a garbage heap. Autopsy reports revealed that the girl was subjected to rape, torture and was then strangled to death. Zainab's murder was the 12th such incident reported in Kasur in a year.

Kasur had made headlines in 2015 as well when it was revealed that a gang of paedophiles was busted for running a child sex ring in the city.

Yes, he has quite good following and he speaks like the average Pakistani.

I am dumbfounded how people do not see through his lies and garbage reasoning.

On a question regarding Sharmeen and her effort to raise awareness about acid attacks, he replied: `The U.S. has the highest number of acid cases but they are not highlighted by anyone. By highlighting acid attacks, Sharmeen is tarnishing the image of Pakistan.'

Actually, people can't even obtain acid in the U.S. without a permit.

His views regarding women are utterly disgusting, he compares women to female dogs and how they should stay at home.

According to him, Pakistani women should stay from western education as it is fahash.

    An utter clown!

He's simply a reflection of the society he comes from. People don't see through his lies and flawed reasoning because they believe the same things by default and don't have the capacity to question any of it because they've been taught since birth not to question.

I strongly object to the use of the term heathen here. Heathen simply means someone who is not a follower any religion. What you're saying here is equivalent to me saying Pak needs to make an example out of these Muslims (which would actually be more factually accurate since the perp in this case at least is far more likely to be a Muslim than a heathen).

Don't worry it wasn't an attack on Muslims, I usually call vile beasts in general heathens; don't read too much into the word's meaning

Young kids are very vulnerable, you can't blame them for not being able to make sense of the world beyond a certain point, the real deterant is mutilating punishment for anyone caught and consistent mutilating punishment and eventually a future potential perpetrator will think 50 times before acting.

Punjab police on Saturday issued fresh footage of a person they suspect of involvement in the kidnapping, rape and murder of 6-year-old Zainab in Kasur.

Zainab had left her house in the Road Kot area for her maternal aunt’s a few minutes away for religious lessons on January 4. She is believed to have been abducted en route. On Jan 9, five days after she disappeared, labourers found her dead body from a trash pile.

In the new footage, a bearded man bearing a resemblance to her abductor can be seen walking through the street where Zainab's house is situated. The man is seen wearing a dark coloured cap, what seems to be grey shalwar kameez and a brown jacket.

Police have clarified that the man is only a 'person of interest' as of now.

Police say the new video will help them make headway in the case as it is clearer compared to the footage they had available earlier.

On Friday, police had confirmed that the results of DNA tests carried out in the case indicated the involvement of one culprit in at least seven similar cases that occurred in the district over the past year.

A source in the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) told Dawn that the agency had received samples collected by Kasur police from the crime scene.

The samples were processed at the PFSA’s DNA and Serology, section where experts confirmed that the suspect had been behind several similar crimes in the city.

The source explained that the agency had conducted tests of samples obtained from victims in seven similar cases from Kasur, and, according to available records, the results of these reports indicated the involvement of the same person.

Police authorities have been given the report of the DNA test in Zainab’s case, the source said.

The inspector general of Punjab police had earlier told reporters that the JIT constituted to probe the case had received the DNA test results and investigations were underway.

Very sure its not him. This guy is too heavy compared to the actual suspect. Why are Punjab Police putting the life of an innocent man in danger by releasing a video without 100% ground reality that this could be the guy?

I'm just thinking back to the difference in protocol between a professional police setup like Canada and a third world politically infiltrated setup like Pakistan's.

When a child is abducted here there is an immediate "Amber alert" issued on the radio and televisions giving the description of the child and CCTV footage of the entire area is immediately analyzed to trace where the kid might have gone and who might have taken them. All entry/exit points between a 3-4km radius are cordoned off and every passing car is thoroughly checked.

Compare this to Pakistan where the Noora police not only didn't look for the missing kid they were demanding Rs 10k from the family as reward for finding the body.

Aur vote do Noora ko. I'm sorry but Pakistan and Pakistanis deserve this. They themselves voted for these monsters for the last thirty years. Then we have jahils like @Mamoon @TalentSpotterPk and @LegendInzi who come here and give us lectures that all of this is establishments sazish. Jahalat ka koi illaj nahi hai.

This is the case for which LAW minister Rana Sanaullah said "Girl was friends with these boys and these type of girls often do these type of things".

    3) Police attacked and killed dozen PAT workers inside their homes using "illegal barriers" as an excuse. Sanaullah blamed the victims again saying PAT workers fired at police first even though none of the policemen died or hit by bullets.

    4) In Kasur back in 2015 when biggest child abuse scandal was broke in Pakistan's history, Sanaullah said it was just a dispute between 2 parties even though hundreds of videos were available and watched by whole media.

Now tell me i am politicising this issue and i will delete this post.
To prove seriousness of government to resolve this issue, Shahbaz Sharif (our next visionary leader) has appointed Rana Sanaullah as head of committee for protecting children WOW

KASUR: Police are scra*m*bling to find clues that could lead them to the culprit behind the rape and murder of Zainab in Kasur, while the deadline assigned to them by the Punjab police chief to make the arrest expired at 8pm on Saturday.

At least four agencies — the Counter Terrorism Dep*artment, the Intelligence Bureau, the Special Branch and the Punjab Forensic Science Agency — have been seized with the case and each agency has arrested suspects separately, while investigating the matter.

Separately, a new video, which apparently shows the kidnapper in the area she was abducted from, surfaced on various media websites on Saturday.

According to people in the area, the new video could further frustrate attempts to zero in on the culprit as the man in it appeared different from the man shown walking with Zainab on Peerowala Road in the previous video. Furthermore, the timestamp on the CCTV footage is 17:27 while Zainab is said to have been kidnapped at around 19:00.

They claim that the physical features of the suspect in the new video were different from the one shown in the earlier video. Moreover, the place where the new suspect is shown walking is located far away from the victim’s house. According to a local police official, investigators were not aware of this video. No one, including the local police, sensitive agencies or news websites, is ready to own or disclose the source of the new video regarding the suspect.

According to a source, the DNA results of over 120 samples of suspects had been received so far but none of them matched that of the serial killer.

While investigating earlier cases of rape and murder of children in Kasur, the police had claimed to have interrogated 5,000 suspects. They said they had sent 67 tissue samples for DNA testing and none of them had matched the profiles of the assaulters in the case of 11 victims.

Separately in Lahore, Muhammad Idrees, the regional police officer of Multan and head of the joint investigation team probing the case, briefed the Punjab police chief about the progress they had made so far. Sheikhupura RPO Zulfiqar Hameed, Kasur DPO Zahid Nawaz Murawwat and other members of the JIT were also present at this session.

The IGP was apprised about the actions taken by the police to trace the culprits, an official said, adding that the DNA report, the arrests of the suspects, CCTV footage of the suspect and other aspects of the case had come under discussion.

Punjab IGP Arif Nawaz Khan said the DNA test of all suspects must be conducted.

Police action in 2015 could have prevented Zainab's rape, murder: LHC

The Lahore High Court on Monday observed that if the police had taken action in 2015 ─ when the first case against a serial killer was reported in Kasur ─ the rape and murder of six-year-old Zainab could have been prevented.

A two-member bench of the high court was hearing Zainab's case when the director general of Punjab's Forensic Science Agency submitted a report to the court, stating that DNA tests had confirmed that Zainab was raped and murdered by the same serial killer who was responsible for other similar cases in Kasur.

When asked, the director general told the court that the first case was reported in 2015. He added that at the time, a joint investigation team had been formed and DNA tests were conducted.

Last year, it became clear that a serial killer was behind the cases, the DG added.

"Your investigations should have started in 2015," LHC Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said.

"We were trying to find evidence to base our investigation on," the court was told.

"If you had taken action at the time, Zainab's case could have been prevented," the chief justice said.

The additional advocate general, also present during the hearing, told the court that 108 cases of rape are pending before the sessions courts in Kasur. He added eight of the most recent cases have not been traced as yet.

"These cases should be heard on a daily basis," the chief justice said, as he sought Zainab's complete medical reports.

Monday's hearing was conducted as the 36-hour deadline given to police by the high court to arrest the culprit behind Zainab's murder lapsed without any breakthrough in the case.

The court in the morning had summoned Punjab Inspector General Police Arif Nawaz to appear before the bench at 12:30pm today. However, until 1pm, the police chief had not appeared in court.

Zainab's case will also be taken up by the Supreme Court tomorrow [Tuesday].

Zainab went missing on January 4 while heading towards a relative's home. Her bruised body was found a few days later in a dump in the city.

The news shocked the entire country with #JusticeforZainab becoming the rallying cry while violent protests broke out in Kasur.

The six-year-old's autopsy had confirmed that she was strangled to death. It suggested that she had been raped before being killed.

At least four agencies — the Counter Terrorism Department, the Intelligence Bureau, the Special Branch and the Punjab Forensic Science Agency — have been seized with the case and each agency has arrested suspects separately while investigating the matter.

However, no major headway has been made in the case since Zainab's body was found.

We are aware of the filth in PML-N, but PTI was supposed to be different. That’s why I voted for them in 2013, but I abandoned my support when they welcomed the opportunists from other parties including the notorious PML-Q gang who did nothing good alongside Musharraf. PTI is nothing but status quo under a different label.

Hence, after careful consideration, I have come to the conclusion (with a heavy heart) that Shehbaz is the most suitable candidate for PM office at the moment. He is hard working, his level of sanity is greater than Imran’s and his overall performance in Punjab has been decent.

Yes we have seen the great work in Kasur and i am sure the families of the victims of the child rapes would be jumping for joy at your great logic. But at least your hypocrisy is clear to see, so lets not hear anymore from you about the thugs in the PTI as you are quite happy with killers and crooks.

LAHORE: Police have arrested a man resembling the suspect seen in the CCTV footage with Zainab, the seven-year-old girl who was brutally raped and murdered in Kasur last week, sources told Geo News on Monday.

Sources, however, told Geo News that the DNA of the arrested man does not match with samples found from the victim's body.

According to sources, police have cast doubts over the statement recorded by the arrested man and will now carry out a polygraph test to ascertain veracity of his statement.

11 cases of child sex abuse reported in Pakistan every day: report

Meanwhile, authorities have decided to carry out a search operation in the vicinity of the victim's house. Sources said authorities have acquired census data of 1,200 houses around Zainab's home to carry out the operation.

Zainab was brutally raped, murdered and dumped in a garbage pile, in a chilling tragedy that sparked nationwide protest and grief.

Earlier on Monday, a new CCTV video emerged showing a suspicious person beckoning her to come with him, after which the little girl, donned in a frock and leggings, walks towards him.

In the previous CCTV footage, Zainab was seen walking with the man.

Displeased at no real progress in the case, the chief justice of the Lahore High Court had summoned IGP Punjab over the police's failure to nab the culprit(s).

The IGP Punjab, however, did not appear in the Lahore High Court on Monday.

During the hearing of the suo motu case, LHC Chief Justice Justice Mansoor Ali Shah remarked that the Punjab government and police appeared non-serious in the rape and murder case of Zainab.

The Punjab chief minister has also constituted a joint investigation team for inquiry.

The incident prompted Chief Minister of Shehbaz Sharif to form a 20-member committee on safeguarding children. Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah was made the convener of the committee with the minister for schools as the co-convener.

The committee — in its first session on Sunday — proposed the recommendations to form a Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) database and make amendments to the child protection laws in order to curb child abuse in the province.

The recommendations will be submitted to the CM Punjab by January 16.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government also decided to introduce child protection curriculum in schools across the province.

Mamoon is surely on a wind-up. Shehbaz is hard working and decent... Guy has been in Punjab last ten years and has nothing to show for it. The proof is everytime they even have indigestion they run to UK for treatment and if after ten years they can't even trust a single hospital in Punjab to carry out their treatment then that shows it all.

Pakistan is the way it is because of people like Mamoon. People like him, their bar for any 'decent' work is so low which is why the looters never bother with doing anything worthwhile.

How is he hardworking? He can’t even provide education to the people in the provincial constituency he won.

You can say that I am on top of the food chain. It may or may not be true, but it is your opinion. However, let me tell you that no matter who becomes the PM of Pakistan, the plight of the common man is not going to change. You can wish for a messiah or a savior, but it is not going to happen. It is what it is.

It may or may not change with Imran... but it will never change with someone who has already ruled for 30 years. This simple fact goes over the heads of jahil Nooras.

There is nothing wrong with Shehbaz going to the UK for treatment. If Pervez Khattak needs treatment, he will probably go to a good private hospital as well, even if he is governing in KPK for a decade. Moreover, neither will his grandchildren study in government schools in spite of all the so-called reforms in the education system.

All humans are intrinsically selfish. We all want the best for ourselves - Shehbaz goes to the UK for treatment for the same reason. He is selfish, just like Imran Khan, who has disowned his illegitimate daughter because of selfish reasons, i.e. protecting his political career.

There is everthing wrong with public officials going abroad. If Khattak went abroad whilst the poor buggers that elected him cant afford basic medicine then he should resign and i for one would done with the PTI as my hard earnt cash is not for people who say one thing and do another.
No public money should spent on politicians to go abroad to receive treatment. And nice try with evasion about IK and his daughter but unless she complains publicly, you dont know the full facts. But we do know how Showbiz and his Qatil looked after the children in Kasur that relief upon them for protection

The elite does not want the lives of the commom man to change. This includes the likes of Mamoon. Who will serve the elite if the common people improve their standards of living? Generally, Pakistani elite are selfish scums.

No one serves me - I don't have a government job and I don't hold any public office. I am just a doctor and an author. I don't know where you live, but the idea that Imran Khan will improve the lives of the common man is nothing but a pipe dream. Nothing is going to happen, and the poor will continue to suffer, just like they are suffering under Imran Khan's Champion Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who recently demolished a university wall to accommodate guests for his son's wedding.

You can call me an elitist and a 'selfish ****', but I voted for PTI in 2013 because I believed in Imran Khan's manifesto. However, over the last 5 years, his political naivety, his u-turns, his dharna politics and his propensity to surround himself with opportunists and crooks under the guise of 'electables' have discouraged me.

The video above seems to be assumptions about the case but he makes valid points. The rapist could be someone who is not from that part of the country or Kasur.

Not sure if related to this case but one of key culprits Saleem Shirazi in Kasur child abuse case that shocked entire Pakistan is out on bail. As per parents of affected children, Saleem Shirazi is also key figure in Ephedrine smuggling case along with Nawaz Sharif's tiger Hanif Abbasi. (Watch Waseem Badami's show from Kasur for many shocking details).

Saleem Shirazi is openly threatening families of dire consequences if they don't withdraw their cases and obviously has Hanif Abbasi of PMLN's backing otherwise even ANF (Anti Narcotics Force) has failed to arrest him.

So once again, powerful political forces playing key role in high profile criminal case. Hanif Abbasi was accused in illegally smuggling billions worth Ephedrine and instead of arresting him or sidelining him Nawaz Sharif made him head of Metro project in Rawalpindi and he is key spokesman for PMLN.

‘We don't know what's happening’, father of Kasur rape victim complains

The rape and murders of a dozen children by a suspected serial killer have terrified parents in central Pakistan, and prompted soul-searching over how the country fails to protect its most vulnerable.

The killing of six-year-old Zainab Fatima Ameen became the tipping point last week when her body was found on a rubbish heap near her home in the city of Kasur.

Candlelight vigils were held across the country and the hashtag #JusticeForZainab trended on social media, with celebrities, opposition politicians and outraged web users demanding action.

But grief spilled over into anger in Kasur, a city already infamous for child abuse after a massive paedophilia ring was exposed in 2015.

Zainab, officials said, is the 12th child found raped and murdered in the city within a two-kilometre radius in the last two years. The discovery of her body sparked riots in Kasur, with thousands swarming police stations and setting fire to politicians’ homes, accusing authorities of inaction. At least two demonstrators were killed after police opened fire on the crowds.

A spokesperson for the government of Punjab province said the suspect was likely “a lunatic with psychological disorders”.

“The perpetrator involved in the murder is a serial killer,” said Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan.

In six of the cases, investigators have found the same DNA, said Kasur district hospital chief Dr Nazir Ahmed. Another doctor said the bodies of the children bore similar injuries.

While Dr Fareed Khan said the victims showed signs of “strangulation, burn marks, scarring and wrist cuts.”

Television stations have repeatedly broadcast chilling CCTV footage purportedly showing the young girl walking hand-in-hand with an unidentified male in what may have been her last moments.

Kasur is notorious for such heinous crimes.

In 2015, officials uncovered a huge paedophilia ring in the city. At least 280 children were sexually abused on camera by men who later blackmailed their families, threatening to leak the footage.

Police conspicuously failed to act despite pleas from parents, only making arrests after clashes between relatives and authorities dragged the issue into the spotlight.

From January to June 2017, there were 129 cases recorded in Kasur – including rape and murder – according to Sahil, an aid group that works on child protection issues.

“The district police chief told us if they can’t arrest the culprit then what can they do,” said Muhammad Ayub, whose eight-year-old niece was raped and killed in July last year.

Just one child is believed to have survived an attack.

The six-year-old girl has spent months in intensive care, paralysed from the neck down and unable to speak after being raped, tortured and left for dead at a garbage dump in November.

“Cameras should be installed in the streets on every turn for protection of the children… how can mothers accompany their children all the time?” asked the survivor’s aunt.

“How can I be satisfied… we don’t know what’s happening,” raged Zainab’s father Ameen Ansari at his home, where he blasted the police for inaction. “They have not shown any interest at all.”

    Authorities, however, remain confident.

“I’m pretty sure that within a few days maybe we will present the main accused,” said district police chief Zahid Nawaz Marwat.

Such assurances are not enough for the people of Kasur.

“We have been forced to lock our kids inside our homes,” said resident Ghulam Fareed.

Pakistan criminalised child sexual abuse for the first time in 2016, after the initial paedophilia scandal broke. But with sex education non-existent in Pakistan, experts fear that an untold number of abuse cases continue to go unreported.

“Always the powerful are abusers and the weak are the victims,” said Manizeh Bano, the executive director of Sahil.

Such fears are not limited to Punjab.

Recent media reports have pointed to rampant sexual abuse of children in unregulated madrassas across the country, while a 2014 documentary highlighted how young boys in Peshawar are often abused for sex.

For Zainab’s family, any change will come too late.

“They were unable to find my daughter for five days,” her mother Nusrat Bibi said through tears.

“I had educated Zainab (on) how to deal with strangers if they try to trap you,” she cried.

“The girl was very wise and obedient.”
