He is scoring a lot of runs across all formats and especially in limited overs he has transformed his game to new level and scores at SR 95-120. The only match and the last game he played in Lahore scored 45 runs in 30 odd balls as an opener. He definitely deserve a long run as an opener this time around for sure.

This is basically our ODI team which can't even put up decent totals in 50 overs. Which genius thought it would be a good idea to keep the same team for T20s? Plus, we've been blessed with Ahmed Shahzad's umpteenth comeback. Accumulators galore. Imagine a batting lineup of Shehzad, Babar, Hafeez, Malik and Sarfraz in T20s. In 2018.

Nearly the same squad from the Sri Lanka T20 series.
This ongoing ODI series vs NZ shows how desperately we lack powerhitters yet we recall Shehzad back whilst Hafeez keeps his spot despite his poor T20I record.
Seems like the National T20 has been disregarded for sake of "not changing a winning team" with no Sahibzada Farhan, Mukhtar Ahmed or Hussain Talat.

What value to people like Hafeez and Malik bring to the T20 at their age. Most countries experiment and give chances to untried, untested players to see if they have it, whilst PK for some bizarre reason think that each T20 game is some sort of World Cup final. In reality these games are forgotten before they even finish. Outside the T20 World Cup nobody remembers these games!
-

And Hafeez

Nawaz, Shahzad , Hafeez and even Babar Azam has nothing to do in t20s. its for hacks or or for those who can get going from the word go. we have these players but heck Selector .... Nasir nawaz , Mukhtar , Talat are the type of players to go with.

If you are incompetent, but honest - one can manage somewhat. If you are competent but corrupt, still you won’t get exposed.
But, when you are corrupt & incompetent (but given power) - then this type of selection happens.
@Hasan123
I told you - Ahmed has better chance to make T20 squad than Maqsood under Ul Haq. Guy took whole bunch of his group to ICL after retirement, not bothering what’ll happen to team PAK or those players’ future - he was paid handsomely to scout PAK players, did that for own benifit.

See #11 where I criticised the squad.
Nawaz is only good for raging turners but otherwise is bang average. However what multiple spin options are you referring to ? Malik isn't an effective spinner these days and Hafeez can't bowl. There's only Shadab Khan so you do need a backup.

Maqsood might be injured, but I still doubt. If Ul Haq is the selector that saying Maqs was inconsideration, not picked for injury, then I take that with a pinch of salt - guy speaks opposite of his mind.
Besides, it doesn't connect dots - if Maqs was injured and Umar can't be touched, still there was Mukhtar, Farhan or even Talat, if they wanted a T20 opener. Ul Haq's team has dropped Azhar & Imam for Ahmed & Amin, rest are same including 3 pacers with Raees - I can safely tell you that with about 250 club cricketers in total around Kathmandu, even Nepalese selectors won't pick virtually same squad for ODI & T20in this era. Azhar & Imam didn't deserve a spot in ODI squad, so obviously they are dropped from the faster paced game, rest are same!!!!!!!
I can tell you that Ul Haq's T10 team'll be same as well, the day we start Super One cricket (1 over game), still he'll pick almost same squad, because guy in extremely biased, loyalist with a strong sense of own group, but extremely proud & rigid - what I do/know is correct & final; a trait of a particular group of people he is part of. He won't change even in 2050, if he doesn't think it's worthy, though rest world might play cricket in moon with 1/6th gravity.
Worst possible personality for a CS like job, which needs an open, receptive and functional mind to accept the changing world and a vision to put any strategy in action.

What is the point of selecting Nawaz for a series in New Zealand, when you already have multiple spin options in the squad?
Amin over Maqsood is another master stroke by the Revolutionary; short boundaries, flat wickets with his confidence high - it was the ideal time to give Maqsood an opportunity to resurrect his international career.

Big fan of Haris Sohail but for one he is not a t20 player and 2, where does he bat. Babar bats at 1 down so there's no way Haris can bat in any other position as he isn't suited.
He should just focus on tests IMHO.

Haroon Rasheed how corrupt he was, was still better than this politician Inzamam. Can only see promising players play in fantasy leagues until this joker Inzamam is Chief selector. Anyone who can throw this selector out and install Aamir Suhail would get the highest civilian award from me. He'll be able to save many careers in our domestic cricket.

Good to see CLH in the team, he should play ahead of Hafeez and Haris. On his current form , he is probably our best batsman in T20. Used to be a supporter of Shahzad , but like many , have seen him enough , he should be discarded for ever now.

Sack Inzi. Please have some common sense and use this format to blood new players who are suited for this format.

What is wrong with Inzamam ul huq? I don't think he is watching domestic matches. It is frustrating to see the same bunch of players again and again, such a pathetic selection, wrong selections for wrong formats. When will this torture end? Hafeez, Haris, Nawaz and even Sarfaraz is burden.
Again neglected Sahibzada Farhan and Hussain Talat, most deserving players.
Umar Akmal need to be groomed as WK batsman in T20I's.

Even an grandpa Misbah would have done better than some of these selected.
Seems like Inzi is really keeping it simple. He only selects certain people which is continuity according to him.
