Abdul Razzaq awarded Honorary Life Membership of MCC

Former Pakistan all-rounder, Abdul Razzaq, has accepted the Committee's offer of Honorary Life Membership of the Club.

Honorary Life Membership is awarded to some of the finest cricketers and men and women associated with the game, and his inclusion make it four players from Pakistan to be awarded Honorary Life Membership within the past 12 months, following Misbah-ul-Haq, Shahid Afridi and Younis Khan, who were all awarded the same honour in 2017.

Razzaq, who helped his country to win the ICC Twenty20 World Cup at Lord’s in 2009, played 265 ODIs and 46 Tests and is widely regarded as one of the best all-rounders to represent Pakistan.

Whilst the 38-year-old was unable to get his name on the Lord's Honours Boards during his career, he did score 53 in a Test match versus England in 2001.

Razzaq retired from all-forms of cricket in 2016, having hit 7,419 runs and taken 389 wickets across all formats for his country.

Meanwhile, former Chief Executive & Secretary, Derek Brewer, has also become an Honorary Life Member of the Club.

Derek Brewer by Patrick Eagar 2016 5The former Warwickshire 2nd XI bowler, retired from his post at MCC in 2017, having been at the club since 2011.

Prior to his position at Lord's, Brewer was also Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.

Stewards failed to recognize him and refused to let him in during a match in which he was playing or something like that.

One of the truly good all-rounders that we produced and he could have done more but alas.

PCB has done nothing for any player except some guys who have become bosses. Honouring MuH, YK and SA was good but it shud have continued.

Though Razzler was not well regarded in county cricket, didn't Middlesex once axe him in 2003-2004 saying that he was a lazy cricketer who never gave his 100% in training?

Ordinary fans should first check the 'ordinary' player's achievements.

I think when you have a habit of constantly smashing England out of the park you deserve an MCC membership

Did not expect from an admin this sort of comment. Its my personal opinion about Razzaq, based on his overall test, ODI and T20 record overall and his lack of fitness.

On several occasions he has said he is 4-5 years older than his stated age.

    Nevertheless, a wonderful LOI player.

Fast bowler's pace drop a bit after 32-33, Razzaq lost pace at official age 24-25 and lost his test place.
