    Haris Sohail's batting resembles Inzamam-ul-Haq

His temperament, techniques and style resembles Inzimam ul Haq

Reminds me how calm we used to feel when Inzimam bats in middle order, he scores most of shots with perfect placement / perfection (just like we seen from Harris Shoail today)

I would like to say Welcome Back Harris Shoail, wish you all the best for many years to come with Pakistan middle order permanent position.

He is very easy on the eyes and very comfortable against pace. Doesnt have the power hitting ability of Inzi, Inzi is in the top class of Pakistani batsmen.

What's so cringeworthy about Haris is that he always throws his wicket away after a good looking 40 or 50.

Is it a surprise that he is picked for an ODI after 2-3 years in foreign conditions and he scores a valuable 50.

While I appreciate Haris scoring a good 50 after Pakistan was in early trouble, the fact is his strike-rate was not good enough for the modern era of ODI cricket. Being better than Hafeez and Malik should not be the criteria for selection for an international LOI team. He still struggles to rotate strike against the spinners, same issue as in 2014-15.

People are so fed up with Hafeez, Babar and Malik, that anyone who plays well will be awarded with these presumtuous comparisons. Is he good enough to replace Hafeez, Babar, Malik? Yes, atm. Can he be compared to Inzamam? No. Inzamam paced his innings well and never hit a nothing shot in the air after completing his 50.

His SR was 80+ before Williamson and Santner tightened the screws. His problem against spinners isn't strike rotation, he does enough of it; 4 singles in an over is quite reasonable. The problem is finding boundaries, Haris prefers to wait for the loose deliveries which are more common for fast bowlers but finger spinners can keep it fairly tight if they intend to. He will score quicker against more traditional leg spinners who will offer a few more looseners. Most good batsmen look to take a few calculated risks but Haris seems to lack the judgement for when and how often he should do the same. Playing at the top level will help in that regard. The thing is he is a youngster in terms of match experience which means he has potential for growth, whereas players like Malik and Hafeez who have 200 matches under their belt have already grown to their potential.

Another thing is I feel the way he has been treated has made Haris a tad selfish. He probably didn't want to risk a dismissal before a 50 for fear of getting shoved aside for the seniors once again. I mean this is the player who despite having the best stats after Babar hasn't gotten a game for a long time now.

If he loves facing pace bowling then he should open the batting and make the most of the available pace quota.

The most impressive about his innings was that he was playing his first ODI in a while and that he was rotating strike. He supported Fakhar really well and had fakhar not got out, they could of made a big partnership. The fact he was benched for the Professor and Malik is really mind boggling

Haris Sohail's fitness is also going to resemble Inzi's very soon as per his current condition. I am amazaed how Sarfaraz and Haris manage to show up with this fitness & how they achieve the minimum yo-yo test score. A professional Pakistani cricketer must have had to eat a lot of rotis & chawal for 1-2 month without any major workout to get that much flab on their bodies.

What I liked most about his batting is no power in his shots, he times the ball very well even when hitting spinners for sixes. He needs to work more on his footwork and get to the pitch of the ball.

Also one thing I've noticed in Pakistani batsmen is that they have no trigger movements at all, could be due to playing a lot of cricket on slow UAE wickets.

I did'nt watch the match only checked some of the highlights. Just watched the analysis show where they showed he played a lot of dot balls from part timer Williamson and Santner alongwith Fakhar. They were'nt even rotating strike although he received easy delivereies on the front leg, made 57 runs in 17-19 overs.
Pakistan mite've had a better target of they could've scored 20-40 more runs in just singles.
Hope his game improves and does'nt become another Babar Azam just to replace him.

Haris was batting at 80+ SR before the spinners came on ... That's an area of improvement for him ... Fakhar got bogged down uncharacteristically yesterday and the dot ball pressure got both of them out. Fakhar so far has shown the ability to look to play even faster after getting past 50 but yesterday was the first time he went into a shell when he got into 40s and that created pressure on Haris as well.

It was Haris' 1st ODI in over 2 years and he still got a 50. That's a start. Hope he can build from here. And he also showed his value with the ball yesterday. Outside of the 2 6s Grandhomme belted him for, he was bowling very good.

He does need to lose weight though, looks bulky. That will help him in terms of batting endurance and boundary hitting. Now that he is finally in the senior team, the training staff will work with him.

Haris has a solid avg. of 40+ in 20+ matches, Maqsood couldn't sustain his performance after first few matches.

There's a huge difference between the two.

    Oh please!
Why do we do that with all our potentially talented players.
    From my observation,
Haris doesn't have a solid release shot especially against spinners. He needs to work on his sweep shot but his bat lift won't allow him to master it. Against spinners, a lower back lift is essential in tackling the flight and manouvering the ball. Also allows you to pounce on the short ball.

Looked very good considering it was his first outing in a while, some of his early boundaries were really good strokes - ball right under his nose. Played some of the bouncers really well, even running them down for a single? who in Pakistan does that...

Not saying he's a savior but clearly, like Zaman, someone to be persisted with (hoping he stays fit).

Definitely these stats are genuine as they are made by competing top 3 sides of the world like Sri lanka, Zimbabwe and West Indies in foreign conditions like UAE.

Babar Azam did not enter odi format last year he is playing in the team consistently for 2.5-3 years.

Minus Australia [who Pakistan did'nt play again after Jan/Feb 2017] and UAE, Babar Azam average is 27.66 in New Zealand, 18.50 in Sri Lanka, 29 in Ireland, 31.87 in England. His average resemble lot more like Shoaib Malik tbh.
Azam has protected his average by playing selfishly slow and made more effort to stay not out then helping the team achieve target. Being consistently selected has also affected his game he is becoming another Akmal.

In 2018, Babar Azam averages 5.25 with a strike rate of 38 in ODI. Even Pakistani bowlers have better average than this.

If playing pace is his strength then he needs to open especially in foreign conditions. The middle and lower order are more than capable of hitting it big against spin, but they're junk against pace. Perhaps that's the way forward, but unless Fakhar works out his issues against pacers then we need someone else to play opener.

Answer this question. When Azam doesn't score runs we have invariably been 150-6 or worse. Go back and check all the games from last year upto now.
    When he fails Pakistan fails.
When he does his thing (very similar to KW- check his strike rate first 50 balls this series) and scores Pak do a lot better.

How much did he score in the last 263 Pakistan scored?

How much did he score in the 338 Pakistan made in the Finals?
Babar made 101 off 133balls in the 2nd odi against losing Sri Lanka, Pakistan team total was 219. It was not because we had lost wickets it was because he played 20 overs of dot balls .
He made 103 off 131 in the previous [1st odi], and Pakistan team could'nt reach 300 as Azam again took 70 or more balls to reach 100 after he completed his 50. Pakistan team total was 292 because of only one player that is Fakhar Zaman.

I completely disagree with you Babar Azam andMalik are of same calibre, minus Fakhar Zaman stats show Pakistan has never crossed 250 and is the most important batsman in the lineup.
