Which captain will bowl chahal 6 overs when bhuvi and bumrah had 3 overs left. Leggies will get smacked badly if ball gets wet. Kohli could have bowled 3 overs from bhuvi & bumrah and then 1 from pandya. No reason to ball chahal all 6 overs when he was going with 12+ rpo.

Many decision kohli has taken from ct final (to chase in pressure match on flat road) to dropping rahane for rohit in tests and even today he did quite alot mistakes. I am sure kohli the batsman's form is gonna save kohli the captain but whenever kohli will get out of form team will surely loose badly anywhere and his every decision will look horror.

Kohli's support to pandya in all test series was big reason we never got balance in the side. (And we lost mostly cause of our batting). I will still say pandya will get smacked badly when opposition is dominating and we might need shami/umesh as 3rd bowler. Bhuvi with his avg of 38 in odis is another trundler whome people ignore due to test performance and his batting in recent days.

I don't think a full 50 overs chase of 290, SAF would have won it under dry condition, but it kept the series alive for one more game at least.

SAF might comeback strongly as the next 2 ODI are at St. Georges & Centurion. Dropping Ngidi would help the course better.

I think the way ABD attacked Chahal brought belief in the other S.African batsmen. Dry wicket or no dry wicket, these batsmen would still have lost their wickets to both Kuldeep and Chahal today. But the belief behind those shots just showed. South Africa will look to attack these two a lot more in the coming ODIs.

What a phainta for Chahal though.

This.I still didnt see any indication that they are picking our spinners well.Unless they learn to do that, will struggle against them in the next matches too.But then our middler order is pretty weak and if they can get Kohli and Dhawan early in the next matches, they could still win them.

THE Standard Bank Proteas took full advantage of two weather interruptions to beat India by 5 wickets on the DLS method at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on Saturday to keep alive their hopes of sharing the Momentum ODI series.

India now lead the series 3-1 with the remaining matches to be played at St.George’s Park on Tuesday and at SuperSport Park on Friday.

In the process the packed Wanderers crowd saluted two new heroes in Heinrich Klaasen and Andile Phehlukwayo who have played a combined total of just 25 ODIs. The pair secured the victory after the Proteas were set a revised target of 202 in 28.4 overs with Klaasen making an unbeaten 43 off 27 balls (5 fours and a six) and Phehlukwayo an almost unbelievable 23 off 5 balls (a four, 3 sixes and a single).

Their partnership realized 33 runs off a mere 11 legal deliveries.

It followed a partnership of 72 in one ball short of 7 overs for the fifth wicket between Klaasen and David Miller (39 off 28 balls, 4 fours and 2 sixes). In the process they put the feared Indian spinners to the sword as the two went for 119 runs in 11.3 overs although they took three wickets between them and it turned what looked like being a very tight finish into a relatively comfortably victory that was achieved with 15 balls to spare.

The onslaught was started and probably inspired by AB de Villiers when he hit two sixes in an over.

The Proteas got two good breaks from the weather interruptions. The first came when India, having won the toss, were in complete control, reaching 200/2 in 34.2 overs.

The Proteas got two wickets immediately the game resumed including the key one of Shikhar Dhawan who celebrated his 100th ODI with his 13th ODI century (109 off 105 balls, 10 fours and 2 sixes).

The Proteas then produced one of the best bowling performances in the final power play between the 40th and 50th overs that saw just 59 runs conceded.

As a result the initial target was 290 rather than the 300 and plenty that had looked likely.

The second break came when the Proteas had reached 43 for the loss of Aiden Markram’s wicket in 7.2 overs.

The revised target meant that the Proteas needed a further 159 off 20.4 overs which required a switch to T20 mode and a required run rate of 8 to the over for a short period of time rather than almost 6 to the over for a full 50 overs.

The key thing for the Proteas was that they managed to put pressure on India for the first time in the series rather than having to soak up all the pressure themselves and that led to inevitable mistakes, none being the more important than the reprieve Miller earned when Yuzvendra Chahal bowled him with a no ball.

The Wanderers crowd certainly got their money’s worth as did the Pink Day which raised a record sum of R1 640 652, virtually double what had been raised the previous year.

SAF should play Vernon in last 2 ODI instead of Ngidi. He is good with new ball and IND's batting is probably 90% stacked in top 3. Neither Morris, Morkel or Ngidi are new ball pacer, therefore IND's top order is racing away in first 30 overs - if SAF can counter that with a new ball partner of Rabada, last 2 ODI will be close.

Well said. Rabada has been putting some pressure up-front but that was released mostly from other end. Philander coming back will help the cause. You get top3 and then its all not good for India.

The only reason I could think of not playing Vernander is the risk of him being a cannon fodder once the shine goes off from the new ball.At his pace, even a has-been Dhoni would take him to cleaners in the death overs.

They have 4/5 pacers - easily can use him for 8+2 spells inside 25 overs or only for 8 overs in one spell. Not a batting bunny and if he & Rabada can open-up one end by PP (2 down in 10 overs), job almost done.

Thanks man. It wasn't too hard to guess, India's middle order has been very fragile for some time. The new players are not doing as well India would've liked. Dhawan and Kohli basically carried the entire batting whole series

Ok i guess, i don't follow UP much but he seems to have a ok nos. But i wouldn't pick him unless we go through some exponential injury crisis pre worldcup. It is time to let go of the past, which means no yuvraj no raina or any other oldies we have 1 in the lineup who needs to be kicked out don't need others to be added in.
