I'd love to one day but not easy to get the visa .
Don't think local player stuff matters, Malinga is Sri Lankan yet MI fans will call him one our own since he has always been with us. Kohli has been with RCB long time and will stay there for long time, same with abd, that's how fan loyalty works.

I have not been to single IPL game, neither do I know how people follow the league in India. All I have is what I have read, seen on the internet and anecdotal evidence.

The league has had multiple generations that have grown up on IPL. The kid who was 8, 9 or 10 years old in 2008 and just getting into sports has had IPL all his/her life. This kid is now in college and soon will go on to a job. How will these kids spend their money? I tend to think that IPL will get a good cut of their money over internationals.

The people who were 25+ in 2008 and went to bars with co-workers, friends and bought tickets to games and bought merchandise are now 35+ and likely have children of their own. How/what are these people going to steer their children towards? I would say IPL is a very likely place (not saying they will ignore internationals).

The point is, as the years go by the league is going to become more and more integrated to the culture. Which is what the IPL wants, be part of people lives, their family “traditions” etc. This is what is going to grow the league.

I think the Indian market has the room for 3 to 4 more teams. Which of course means more games and thus longer length. Now, how international cricket will handle this is a big ???

Kohli is more Bangalorean than Delhiete ...Thanks to RCB.

Even I was not understanding how club based sports work before, IPL did changed my perception. Like me IPL touched lot of fans in last 10 years. As I was already cricket fan, started instant connection with IPL.

But lot of new fans were added to cricket through IPL in my circle ..family, friends and colleagues. Few not use to follow Internationals much before but they definitely tune in and even discuss cricket during IPL season !

Regarding your Visa, hope you get chance once to see it urself one IPL match live, share experience with all here #Cheers

IPL needs international cricket. How are we supposed to find new talent for IPL every year? Can't trust domestic performances every time.

International LOI's make scouting very easy.

You’re missing the point. I’m not saying this change is going to happen today or tomorrow. But with more Ipl teams being formed which will get more people tuned in especiallly if their city/state is playing and yes instead of a few weeks it will have to be played for 3-4 months. It willl end up like nfl or nba which are currently billion dollar sports corporations. I really don’t think Ipl needs international cricket after that. People will talk about how the Kerala or Delhi team fought in the final and etc etc. There will be so much money pouring in that people will be asking what International cricket ? How many time is India going to play srilanka ? That gets dull in my opinion ?

I know I’m getting ahead but like nfl or nba Ipl needs to pick the latest and greatest talent coming straight from high school/college during the start of their draft. This mimics the the current nfl drafts and the team that performed miserably the year before gets to pick the first pick or the best player coming in. I know for this colleges has to incorporate college based sports franchises similar to what Us colleges which again is a long ways off.

Maybe not to you but from what I have been noticing, alot of players are calling it a quit and hanging up their white kits and boots to play in color. Hell, some even gave up on their respective countries color kit and are busy representing some t20 league around the world. At the end of the day, money talks, a sport career is very short lived, players will run after the money rather than that so called respect just like any other human being on this planet. And to add to that note, what good is your talent if no one is watching you play to begin with? Majority of the T20 games are in favor of the batsmen anyways. Regardless of how good of a bowler you are, in a T20 game, you get smaked around the park anyways. Odi isn't any better in the modern day. Bowlers are getting smaked around, batsmen are scoring 200+ ...

I would also like to know, who here sat down 40h for one week to watch a full test match (tv or stadium) in the last couple of years?

We have seen the trend shifting though, every year franchisees opt for these unknown names based on local t20 competitions of other countries.

Guys like Corey, Stoinis etc.. have become stars post IPL.

Once all leagues are setup around the world, I think teams would be more comfortably scouting from that rather than international cricket unless of course someone reaches the level of Kohli/AB of course.

Here are a few safe predictions.

IPL would be a 20 team league in 10 years' time. The alpha mega cities of Mumbai and NCR will have multiple IPL teams each. During this period, the IPL season shall stretch to become a 5-6 months long league. Whether that would mean an early start to the IPL season from January or splitting it in two halves would be determined later.

Going forward, the only 'off' season in Indian cricket would be the monsoon months of June through September. October to May would constitute peak cricket season.

I think in coming years IPL should expand to 20 teams with foreign players quota extend to 5 or even 6. Apart from teams and players, IPL should also ask owners/franchise to build a dome that can enable them to play even during monsoon season, and have 7 month long season kinda like MLB baseball. The 5 month off season can be used to play Worldcups or prestigious Intl series like Ashes.

More power to the IPL! Eventually the stupid jingoistic nation-vs.-nation cricket will become a talent hunting ground for IPL.

Need to expand the IPL even more. Need junior league, womens's league etc.

Could you please care to explain the source with which BCCI was not suppose to earn?

After COA came into picture, every single transaction of BCCI is kept open for scrutiny.
Also made every BCCI expenditure was made public in BCCI website.

This was one of the main outcomes / conditions of Lodha panel !

Whole thing is a match fixing circus. That much should be clear considering the number of people getting caught including not only players but people who used to be the head of BCCI.

Do u think any sports body in the world is clean as white paper?

No,there will be RATS in every sports body to make personal gains.

Supreme Court of India is trying to clean-up the mess and conflict of interest in BCCI from last few years ... whole thing is work in progress via COA.

Everything in India can be controlled or managed if you have political background (exactly what many BCCI present / ex bosses have) !

If you are from Pak, you too will be knowing how Politics and Sports are interlinked and manipulated in our countries (PAK and Ind) !
