How to apply for cricket commentary jobs?

Does anyone know the route for getting into cricket commentary career in the domestic or international arena?

    Your responses will be appreciated.

It's going to be extremely difficult, virtually impossible, but if you really, REALLY want to give it a go then you've got a couple of options.

    1) Become a journalist, cover sports and try and work your way up via that route. You aren't going to just say "I'm a commentator" and get handed a mic. You need to get into the sports/media business any way you can and slowly move up the ladder, even if that means starting out as an intern making the chai.

    2) Volunteer your services commentating on local games, school matches, charity matches etc. Make your own internet radio station where you and some friends commentate over games for free, so you develop your skills and have something to point to when people ask you what experience you have. Go record random galli tape ball cricket and provide your own commentary over the top of it and put it on youtube.

    3) Become an international cricketer and you can walk into the commentary box after you retire from playing.
