Would love to hear his opinion on YK the ODI player and why Misbah played him for so long.

Also what is his take on the pathetic attitude of afridi during cwc 2015.

Lol.. wonder why "Mauka Mauka" ads didn't have the same effect then? This notion of being inspired some random ads on TV sounds good in interviews but it doesn't hold much water. They are professional players representing the country against arch rivals. That itself should give all the motivation required.

Simple reason is Indians were over confident and Pak played much better cricket on the field in that series.

He also spoke about the 2012 Test in Abu Dhabi v England and said Ajmal and Rehman said to him get us a lead of 100 and we will win you the match.

Asked regarding funny moments in Pak cricket - said too many and most he cannot share in public

Yes, I'm sure the players stopped practicing and doing drills or holding meetings. They simply watched these ads and showed up on the day of the match.

Between Hasan's antics and this comment, some fans take things so seriously and need to loosen up. The comment was clearly made in jest.

Man's a legend...brought respectability back to Pakistan and it's cricket team...this I have witnessed personally by being in stands with English fans when the spot fixing broke out leading them (and the fans) to be ridiculed to last year at Lords and Oval when the same fans cheered Misbah and his team...Misbah has a lot to do with that change in perception and the honour he brought back to the team

Yes, he earned lots of respect and admiration during that time, but he could not digest that and was in illusion that Pakistan cricket would be nothing without him and he will never get older. He became extremely selfish in later years and kept playing 3-4 years too long and Pakistan cricket paid the price for that and Misbah lost all the respect he once earned.

That's rubbish...He and YK were key in us just drawing the series against England 2 years back. When you have been at every Pakistani test match in England over the years, the level of admiration for Misbah from the opposition exceeds those of his predecessors (this includes Akram and Inzy - did not see any live test matches when Imran Khan was captaining)...

    No Lolz.

He delayed his test retirement because he didn't want a noob team to get pwned in Australia.

I think you are giving the intelligence of our fans and players too much credit. These things tend to fly above their heads.

If they do well, they will say that it inspired them (Aanay Do).

If they fail, they hope that no one brings it up (Mauka Mauka).

Romanticism aside, Pakistan won that series because India was carrying the baggage of of a few non-performing series, and Kohli had a rare shocker. It had nothing to do with the Star Sports advert/promo that seemingly got under our skins.

India sorted themselves out in time for the Champions Trophy and won the tournament, while our India-conquering squad made a mockery of themselves.

If we do happen to end the streak some day, I won't put it past our captain to announce that the Mauka Mauka finally inspired the team after decades.

He isn't burning because he's a Pakistan fan like us and I'll be honest his batting in the 2011 WC semi and in the final over of the 2007 T20 was nothing short of a disgrace.

He ruined Pakistan's limited overs cricket with his defensive approach and selections, particularly with his reliance on seniors. Also he was one of the most selfish batsmen that I've seen play ODIs but still with a SR of 70-75 failed to score an ODI ton.

Yaar - do you EVER have anything positive to say? Your negativity is nauseating! What an absolutely ridiculous statement to make! So Pakistan won ONLY because Kohli played poorly along with some seniors? Absolutely nothing to do with Pakistan simply playing better cricket? I think you are forgetting the very basic concept of sport. It is often NOT about who is the better team or player - it's about who PERFORMS better on the day. Seriously man - don't be so miserable!

Misbah mostly as captain with Waqar, yes manufactured this decline in limited overs. While other teams were adopting more attack minded approaches to batting Pakistan was lagging behind the developments in the game thanks to these 2 incompetent tacticians.

Azhar Ali actually revealed in an interview that Misbah had totals of 250-260 as target and his sole strategy was to use chuckers like Ajmal and Hafeez to win matches. When these 2 finally got caught out, it was inevitable Misbah was going to get horribly exposed in the 2015 WC.

Furthermore Misbah didn't set a good example with the bat because his SRs in the 2015 WC and in 2014 ODIs were 70-75. Having seen every Pakistan game since 2000 there has not been one match winning knock from him - perhaps this could be best explained by his non-existent tons in LOIs?

2013 CT was where he really made a joke of himself for e.g. how can you pick players like Imran Farhat and a raw and unproven rookie like Umar Amin in that tournament?

Now we know the truth hurts, 4 years later a new captain, who in contrast likes to give chances to young blood, is the opposite of Misbah's passive approach and bats selflessly for the team's cause - END RESULT: Pakistan wins the CT. Since you like to throw "heartburn" remarks to other posters, perhaps I should ask how bad was your heartburn when you saw a CT tournament lifted by someone other than Misbah?

Then what happened with Mauka Mauka?

It's a nice apocryphal story, but doesn't add up though.
