    West Indies v Sri Lanka | 2nd Test | Gros Islet | June 14-18, 2018 | Match Thread

A dominant performance by Windies in 1st match, will they repeat it or will Lanka come back hard???

We will never surrender. We win or we die. And don't think it stops there. You will have the next generation to fight; and after the next, the next.

Not surprising Windies pacers are looking more effective on a pitch with pace and bounce. This suits their strengths as a team - not the slow, low crap we've been seeing for the last 15 years.

Strange seeing him become this traditional line and length bowler given how he came onto the international scene as a tearaway fast bowler.

However he complements the more expensive Gabriel well.

WI need a better 3rd seamer and a much better spinner than Bishoo if their bowling attack is to be named amongst the top sides though.

Not many options actually, Lakmal's FC average is almost 35 & Kumara 33. Young man has a decent SR in FC cricket and does have a 10for with 7 5fors.

I think, WIN has a chance to bat SRL out of this Test. I was surprised that SRL opted to bat first on this track, which should be best for batting on Day 2 & 3; may be it was a predetermined call after the scars of 1st Test, but that Test also SRL suffered for dropping at least half a dozen dollies in key moments; could have easily restricted WIN below 250 and it's a different ball game then.

They threw him in there to see if he would click right away but probably felt he's too raw atm. With Roach finding some form, they've gone with an experienced squad to ensure this series win. Hence why Smith was chosen over Hetmyer.

Cool thanks chief. I still think he makes this team on merit ahead of Holder though who is barely a bowler at this point in test cricket.

Holder is in the team for his leadership qualities and stabilizing the lower order. They'll lose whatever little stability they have found if they drop the captain. Can only do so if they're certain the replacement is a superior leader. It's just not something you can do in a fragile environment.

I think he had injury issues which are bound to happen with the amount of cricket these guys play along with the extra format. Gabriel is quicker than he looks and they have Cummins and Joseph who can be the enforcers while Roach acts as the leader who can crank it up if needed.
