"failing to disclose ..... full details of approaches and invitations recieved by Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan Wait why is Babar's name in there. Is that bad English, because they way they've wrote it, it sounds like Babar and Sharjeel invited Shahzaib to fix. Which I'm guessing isn't true, I assume Babar and Sharjeel reported fixes.

And even if Babar did report the fix, why is his name being revealed of reporting fixes? Surely that's something that should have been allowed to be done anonymous.

    Quotes from PCB Lawyer:-

"Today another decision has been made regarding another player who has been punished due to his involvement in spot-fixing"

"This is very upsetting and is a lesson to every other future player to learn from"

"PCB had levelled 4 charges against Shahzaib. The tribunal has proved 3 accusations and has charged him with a 1 year ban and 1 million rupees fine"

"The tribunal has not reached a detail final answer regarding Mohammed Irfan being approached. According to me, it's one word against the other and they had a doubt regarding Irfan being approached by a bookie"

"The doubt should not be beyond reasonable and in the tribunal the doubt is based on balance of probability"

"We know everyone is curious regarding how his ban is ending around 16-17th march but we have to remember that according to the anti-corruption code the player has to go through a rehablitation process"

"The very first step of the rehabilitation process is to accept the guilt and mistakes that you have commited. Only then can you make a return as a player into the sport"

"He cannot step back on the ground as soon as the one year ends. He has to go through a process and pay the fine as well.If he doesn't submit the fine, then this sentence will continue proceeding"

This is a great news for Shahzaib Hassan.

He still has a number of years left in him as a professional Cricketer.

Until now he has handled the case much better than Khalid & Sharjeel.

Do you think he can be in pakistan squad in future,We need an explosive opener but he will miss PSL and PCB will not like to play him?

He can certainly be an option but currently guys like Sahibzada Farhan, Zeeshan Malik & Nasir Nawaz should be groomed and given proper chances at at competitive levels.

Zeeshan & Nasir should have been playing this years PSL.

Ahsan Ali is a high class talent but he is himself to be blamed for his current debacle/misery.

He needs to fist complete whatever rehabilitation the PCB has designed for him. Once that is completed he can return.

Anyone know how long these processes usually take?

I mean will he be cleared to play by May 2018?

Shahzaib Hasan's review appeal rejected, ban extended to 4 years

Cricketer Shahzaib Hasan's attempt to rid himself of a Rs1 million fine that came with the one-year ban handed to him for his part in the infamous PSL spot-fixing scam backfired on Friday when his appeal failed, leaving him with a four-year ban instead.

On February 28, an anti-corruption tribunal formed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had slapped Hasan with a one-year ban and a million rupee fine after finding him guilty of violating three clauses of PCB's code of conduct during the second season of the Pakistan Super League.

Having already served the original ban, Hasan, via his appeal to an independent adjudicator, had wanted to free himself from the monetary fine.

PCB, on the other hand, had sought an even bigger punishment for Hasan for "inducing other players for fixing".

The review appeals of both the parties were heard by independent adjudicator Justice Hamid Farooq, who gave the verdict in the board's favour, and turned Hasan's original one-year ban into four.

"Our position was that Shahzaib should be banned for more than a year because he had violated three clauses," said PCB's legal adviser Taffazul Rizvi. "Today our position was accepted."

The adjudicator also upheld the Rs1m fine on Hasan.

How can a person be charged with "inducing others to fix" when he hasn't fixed himself and only has "failed to report an approach".

But still don't think he was a good enough batter to get in our team. Still remember his wild slogs back in 2010, he was failing to connect a shot against part timers like Hussey.

This is sad. Wasn't his crime not reporting fixing? Because I have a lot of sympathy for that, there's just so many circumstances, if he reports he could be in danger with bookies, his team place might be in jeopardy if he reports, he can't face outing his team mates. Which is why I think the one year ban is fine, serve your ban, come back to the team, no prejudice. Actually spot fixing however, I think life bans are more appropriate.

If he was correctly charged for inducing others to fix, then it was the correct decision. But as someone said if they can't really prove he fixed himself, I dunno how they'd prove that. Shahzaib's actions also seemed someone less like a fixer, he was trying to challenge even the smallest of bans. The guilty ones tended to want a reduced sentence or kept things pretty quiet and avoiding/delaying trials. I mean going to trial over £6,000 doesn't seem worth it given lawyer costs factored in too and definitely isn't worth the risk of extra years on the ban.

Didn't Kaneria spot fix himself along with inducing Westfield to do it as well?
