A four year ban for failing to report a corrupt approach : Is it too harsh on Shahzaib Hasan?

    The title is self explanatory.

Do you think that the increase in length of the ban handed out to Shahzaib was harsh?

A bit too harsh. Yes, I know you want to set an example to deter others from fixing, failure to report but this is his livelihood at the end of the day and a 4 year ban is harsh for him, these are his peak years he's missing out on.

PCB has released absolutely zero evidence against any of these cricketers. They have got banned on the whims and fancy of Mr.Najam Sethi

Would be nice if we got the full report along with actual proof.

I think its too harsh, considering all that he did was that he didn't report the approach.

People just can't be bothered to read it, but still want to criticise.

Not harsh. Sharjeel should have been in jail for 6 months too, got away too lightly.

Point 4: Allegedly enticing Irfan to spot fix

    This was not proved

Failure to disclose two approaches: One year ban each

Failure to disclose two more approaches to Babar and Sharjeel, and Sharjeel did fix: One year

Seeing that it's been increased by one year, I'm guessing they proved point four this time around.

Amazing, isn't it? The lengths people will go to in an effort not to believe that someone fixed.

    What incentive does Sethi have

    a) to lie?

    b) To blame exactly these players?

He was banned for one year only so the ban all those breaches of conduct will be concurrent.

Fair enough,I didn’t know about that. But I’ve read through it.The charges of inducing others(i.e Irfan) to fix were not proved.

Also, let me clear the air.I want anyone who fixed matches/spot fixed/engaged in any kind of corruption to be banned for a minimum 5 years.I don’t have much love for Sethi, true, but that does not mean I criticise any PCB decision just for the sake of it.

My main question was why his ban length was increased by a whopping 3 years. He had only gone to appeal against the fine of 1 mil ruppees.

I think you are reading the original Order as from what I can see they haven't uploaded the appeal Order yet. When they do that will clarify matters.

My comment wasn't meant to be a dig at you- apologies if that is how it came across. It was more of a general observation. Agree re Sethi.

From what I have read the PCB also appealed the decision as they thought it was too lenient, and the tribunal agreed.
