Pataudi Trophy (England) 2018 | England takes the series but India gained more positives

Congrats to all true lovers of the game on the completion of onw of the best test series in recent history. Arguably the best 5 match test series of the century so far and it is fitting that we are down to last session of day 5 of yet another hard fought test match.

Englabd made the most of home advantage and ALL of the important tosses they kept winning and avoiding batting last.

But as things end we look at an English side with mkre questions to answer than before while India discovered that they do have a world class bowling line up after all and in Rahul, Pant they have found two batsmen who will take this batting line uo to new heights after gaining more exposure.

Kohli answered all questions as a batsman ans has cemented his status as the 2nd best test batsman in the world at the very least and truly a world class all conditions test batsman.

India will now be a real threat to Australia who are staring at a humiliating home defeat.

@freelance bhai don’t you ever get tired of this crap? I mean one or two of these threads now and again might be funny but what you do is just sad and pretty childish and doesn’t really add to the forum imo.

Moral victories? We were happy with that when MSD was captaining us.

We expect more now and India were not skilled enough to beat England in England.

Lots of holes to be filled. Dhawan needs to be shown the door in Tests. Rahane's place should be questioned. Has done nothing in the last 2 years except for a few 40's and a couple of 50's. He is supposed to be Test specialist, but he played like Rohit this series. Way too many failures.

Pant needs to be persisted and Rahul should be seen as the main opener. Shaw should be his partner against WI.
Not sure Vihari is long term prospect. But both he and Gill should be vying for the spot.

Pandya had a bad series. He should play against WI and should be on the plane for Aus tour. Ball does not swing there and he should do well in Aus.

I agree , it is time Dhawan be left out of test team. Not consistent in tests.

Shaw should open with Rahul .
Shubman Gill should be tried instead of Pujara ( he has failed more times than he has succeeded).
Rahane should be given 5 more tests to prove himself or Vihari/Mayank Agrawal to take his place.
Pant/Saha both should in test team provididng healthy competition to each other.

Each of Shaw, Shubman, Mayank ,Vihari , Pant should be given a test run of 5 matches minimum to either fail/succeed.

Only negatives, Pant had to come in the team, Pacers were one of the best in the world, there is nothing new the world did not know. No positives IMO

    Seriously? You're blaming the toss?

Tell me what is the point of having a better team than the last tour, a more potent bowling attack and a weaker English side to play against when the final scoreline reads even worse than last time. Playing a great innings in a lost match is good for confidence but it means nothing if you're losing. And throughout this series India's batsmen (barring Kohli) failed to step-up when it mattered most.

All these threads...it feels like India won the series 4-1, not England.

India more confident of conquering Australia now compared to two months ago. They know they lost the smaller battle but are well on course to win the all important big war.

Smart people know what Bhaijaan is refering to.

Lol India going to cash in on a chance to beat a weak Australia side without Smith and Warner
