Congratulations to England for an emphatic 4-1 Test series win against India

No other way to describe this for India - A team with lots of talents and top names unable to come to terms with the conditions in England.

An excellent all-round team effort from England - Well done to all!

Congrats on winning a tough series at home. The scoreline may be 4-1 but I think this was a tougher win for England than the last time we toured. Too good for us in these conditions .

Yup in their conditions certainly yes I think England owe it a lot to their lower order.

Congratulations to England! Their batting looks shaky though, and with Cook now gone can't see it getting much better.

Tbh a lot of questions still to be answered, as openers are struggling, Cook now gone, yes Anderson and broad are their but they need some quicks who can bowl good pace not medium pace, Adil is trash, so a lot to be desired, same with India as well.

Tbh this could have gone anywhere yes we lost 4-1 but we did compete yes I am gutted but a valiant lower order and toss too played a crucial role, not to mention openers and Rahane sucking big time plus injury to Bhuvi, well played but England need to sort out a lot of issues.

Similar story for indian fans yet again, chasing moral victories in 'tough series for England' and 'results dont show the actual' and what not while the English have throughly hammered and beaten the indian team black and blue.

Congratulations for a well deserved series victory. Even with a relatively average team, England managed to win with such a big victory margin.

So you being a BD fan happy because a 3rd team has beaten Ind? Its not called being happy, its called being jealous. Its bcoz you know your team can never beat Ind man to man and hence rejoicing others victory. I dont blame you, if your test captain can celebrate WI victory over India after failing to score 2 runs in 3 balls, how can I fault you?

England have overtaken New Zealand to grab fourth position in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings after completing a 4-1 series victory over India at The Oval on Tuesday.

The home side had started the series in fifth position and 97 points but the emphatic victory over top-ranked India has resulted in a big gain of eight points and lifted them to 105 points.

Joe Root’s England side are now just one point behind South Africa and Australia, who are both on 106 points with the former marginally ahead on decimal points. With New Zealand not far behind on 102 points, there are now four teams within a space of five points of each other on the points table.

India remain in top position despite the loss but the result has seen them lose as many as 10 points. The Virat Kohli-led side had started the series at 125 points and are now on 115 points.

Most of the times Indian bowlers could not deliver the KO punch. Too many times in very good bowling conditions they failed to step up. The batting was just below par to be a threat.

4 - 1 so much for the highlight of the summer.

I do think that with all the exposure India sooner than later surely is going to win away from home?

They play a huge amount of games and also there A TEAM , U19 , B TEAMS etc play lots of cricket.

Congratulations to England! A well deserved victory.

Indians fought hard and a 1-4 result doesn't sum up the way pacers bowled.

This was a golden chance for India to win in England. They've wasted it because of top order's continuous flops.

Otoh, England are producing A/Rs like Pakistan produce left arm pacers

Ain't disappointed with this series. Job well done, both teams.

Very proud of this series win, had Woakes and Mo been selected earlier the series win would have been even more commanding but credit to the selectors for learning from their mistakes in the end barring a few howlers. Absolutely delighted for Jimmy's landmark he deserves it so much and we will be lucky to see anothee Cook in this era, will miss him so much and delighted we could send him away on such a high note.

After yesterday's victory at the Kia Oval completed a busy international summer with a 4-1 win over India in the Specsavers Test Series, the England management have asked for the majority of the squad to take a break before winter trips to Sri Lanka and West Indies - with the squad for the One-Day series in Sri Lanka to be named later this week, ahead of their departure on September 30.

    Details below.

    Vitality Blast Finals Day

Moeen Ali is available for Worcestershire Rapids; Jimmy Anderson, Jos Buttler and Keaton Jennings are available for Lancashire Lightning.

    Specsavers County Championship

Keaton Jennings is available to play for Lancashire in their final fixture at Hampshire from September 24-27.

Moeen Ali is available to play for Worcestershire in their final fixture against Yorkshire from September 24-27, but not for next week's game at Essex.

Sam Curran and Ollie Pope are both available to play for Surrey in their remaining fixtures against Somerset and Essex.

Alastair Cook, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Adil Rashid, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Chris Woakes - unavailable.

Stuart Broad and Jimmy Anderson - decision for the last round of matches TBC depending on fitness and the results of next week's games.

I predicted a 0-5 Eng vs. Ind. scorecard before the series and that's exactly how it ended.

4 moral victories and one real victory for India. A tracer bullet kind of tour in the words of Shastri ji.
