[VIDEO] Virat Kohli asks fan who likes foreign batsmen more than Indian batsmen to "leave India"
Indian skipper Virat Kohli gave a stern reply to an Indian fan who told Kohli that he likes to see Australian and England batsmen in action rather than the Indian batsmen. Kohli told the fan to leave India and live somewhere else if this is the case. Kohli said the fan should not live in India and like other things. They should be loyal to their own country.
Pretty Rude from Kaptaan King Kohli.Last edited by Abdullah719; 6th November 2018 at 22:08.

Fortunately that fan didn't say that he likes to see Pakistani batsmen in action. Otherwise he would have celebrated this Diwali in Pakistan.

He looked half serious in his response. Was this a typical Q&A session or something like a Jimmy Kimmel celebs reading mean tweets kinda thing?

What?
Now cricket decides the citizenship?
Poor, rather I would say this is the worst comment I've heard from any cricketer, let alone Kohli.
Tbh, didn't expect this from Captain. No doubt he's such a poor captain.
You also go to Pak. When 100 cr were crying, you were shamelessly laughing with Pak players.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said, pretty good response from him.

I think he feels that he needs to come across as "macho" all the time. Every response and every action from him should shout aggression and confidence so that he can keep up with his persona.

Over reaction much? This is like Jimmy Kimmel's mean tweets edition where mean tweets are read to celebs who then come up with something funny/sarcastic in response. Of course Kohli isn't as witty as some of the Hollywood celebs so it comes out as unfunny and bratty. However he isn't the worst in this regard, some celebs legit even resort to abuses when they read such tweets in that segment

Wow desis really do not get sarcasm, reminds me of Tharoor's 'cattle class' comment a few years back which brought Indian politics to a standstill. Sarcasm, sense of humour---->utterly lacking in some. However must add that Anushka's acting skills haven't rubbed into Kohli at all

can't see anything wrong with it.
You studied in a country which is funded by the government. You are taking all the benefits. And when it comes down to show loyalty, you are going towards another entity.
Just simpler form, one is working in a pepsi and then branding coke as the better option. Nothing wrong with expressing opinion but in terms of conflict of interest, he will be kicked out.

Those trying to label this sarcasm need to get their heads out of the sand. There was absolutely no sarcasm there. He was clearly annoyed by the comment and took it to heart. As someone said, his short tempered nature got the better of him there.

That was a poor attempt at sarcasm because Kohli isn't witty and his dialogue delivery, voice modulation, face expressions aren't suitable for comic timing. I don't think he was short tempered there, come on this is a guy who was joking around with Pakistani players after a hammering in the 2017 CT final, a match where he failed miserably. Do you think a trollish tweet can unnerve him?
-
6th November 2018, 23:19 #43
Bro did the fan say i don't like Indians? He just said there's nothing special in Indian batsmen batting. How's that related to be a betrayer?
It's his personal opinion he like other batsmen.
Kohli wouldn't have meant it. But, the sad thing is people supporting his words.Last edited by Kohli, The King of Chase; 6th November 2018 at 23:20.

What an extremist point of view, only ultra bigoted people have such viewpoints and I'm positive you most likely aren't one.
Should you be kicked out of your country for not liking IND dramas and only loving English TV seasons?
Just an example. Many people have this opinion.Last edited by Abdullah719; 7th November 2018 at 00:21.

Welcome to the Indian superstar culture. Still remember Sanjay Dutt being celebrated as a hero when he came out of jail after serving a sentence concerning TERRORISM. That's how rotten things are in this country. Kohli can slap his fan on one cheek and they'll promptly show the other. That's just how it is here.

I'll try to explain.
Choice of words could make the same aspect better or worse.
The fan didn't only mention that he prefers non indian batsman but his choice of words were in the tone of condescending. "i prefer aus, nz bastman more than these indian."
You are not mentioning one individual here. You are talking about a group. And this condescending tone is a disrespect towards the system that is nurturing many future generations. They are working hard, sweating on the field and here, you have the audacity to disrespect all their effort.
If you prefer, it is ok. But it certainly crosses the line when you are disrespecting a system. You may disagree with it, but you shouldn't disrespect it.

I disagree here.
Disagreeing and disrespectful are two different aspects. You can disrespect an individual but you shouldn't disrespect an institution.
If the fan had a dig at Kohli, it was perfectly valid. But he went far beyond that and thats where it triggered kohli. I feel the same.Last edited by Abdullah719; 7th November 2018 at 00:21.

Just watched the video. The question that was asked to him was in very poor state. Question was "He is an overrated batsman and Aussies/Eng batters are better than this Indians"
If you think Kohli is overrated why would you would even bother asking him question in 1st place?
The tone of the question or atleast the way Kohli was reading it sounds very rude. Anyone will get angry. Reminds me of that SA journalist.

Yes even if that is the case...anyone will get angry. You are asking a question to Indian captain saying all Indian batsmen are overrated...what is the response you expect? Its like you are the head chef in a restaurant and someone says all your cook's are rubbish. His reponse would be...okay pal take a hike and find another restaurant then.
But as usual people are losing the plot here and bringing his marriage in Italy, whether he drinks French imported water etc.
Someone even went to Sanjay DuttLast edited by Canford Cliffs; 7th November 2018 at 00:43.

lol but he is such big star and should be able to ignore such comments made on him. Every person gets negative remarks on them and this is not the way he should reply & kohli's past record as person is not too good (kumble saga, fighting with reporters etc). Best way for Kohli is to ignore it i feel.

I still think Kohli wasn't too serious here. Or if he was, just in the heat of the moment. If he's asked about it with a cool mind, he'd be embarrassed over his answer.
If he's not, then he's clearly wrong.
SRT would have dodged this question, while deep in his heart would've been abusing the question asker.

I didn't expect such statement from the current version of Kohli. Might have expected from the Kohli of 6-7 years ago but not now.
