[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Want a selfie with Virat Kohli? Simple - just run on to the pitch!

Virat Kohli is an admired cricketer all around the world and gathers fans in big numbers for himself wherever he goes. On Thursday, Virat Kohli was surrounded by two pitch invaders during the Day 1 of the first Test against the Windies at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot.

The pitch invaders were captured taking selfie with Virat Kohli, when he walked out to bat. The fans were later escorted out of the field by the security personnel.

It's all fun and games until one of these looney tunes comes onto the field with the intent of hurting a player or personnel.

Instead of brushing this under the carpet Indian cricket council should look into this.

Yet again on Friday a fan managed to enter the field of play to click a selfie with India captain Virat Kohli during the ongoing second Test against West Indies in Hyderabad.

The fan broke the security cordon at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium and reached Kohli, who was fielding at short mid-on, to click a picture with the superstar cricketer.

The incident took place at the end of the 15th over which caused a delay in proceedings as Ravichandran Ashwin waited to start his sixth over.

This is the second time in successive Test matches that a fan has interrupted play to click a selfie with Kohli after the incident in Rajkot, where two youngsters did the same with the Delhi batsman.

Live Cricket Score: India vs West Indies 2nd Test Day 1

As India dominated proceedings against the Windies on the first day of the Rajkot Test match, two young men rushed to the pitch to meet Kohli.

The two men ran on to the ground and tried to click selfies with Kohli, who was standing on the middle of the pitch.

On that occasion, Kohli posed for the photos for a second before the umpires intervened and asked them to go away as play had to be resumed. They were escorted off the ground by two security officials.

Kohli was unfazed by the abrupt stop of play and carried on after the incident as India piled on the misery on the West Indian bowlers. India manage to win that match by an innings and 272 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the 2-match series.

The interruption on Friday meanwhile, gave the umpires the opportunity to call for drinks with the West Indies score reading 40 for 1 (Kraigg Brathwaite 12*, Shai Hope 6*) after Jason Holder won the toss and opted to bat first.

The Windies lost the wicket of Kieran Powell in the 12th over as he tried to loft a delivery from R Ashwin over cover but mistimed the shot and got caught by Ravindra Jadeja instead.

Virat Kohli is arguably the most followed cricketer in the world right now and wherever the Indian captain goes, fans follow him. They turn out in huge numbers to watch him play irrespective of the venue. Kohli must also enjoy the love and attention he gets from the fans as long as everything stays within a limit. On Day 3 of the first Test against Bangladesh in Indore, an ardent Virat Kohli fan jumped a fence during a drinks break and ran on to the playing field. The fan, with "VK" and number 18 painted on his back, tried to touch the feet of Indian cricketers but soon the ground security caught up with him. Virat Kohli then put his arm around the fan's neck while requesting the security personnel to be gentle with the pitch invader.

The incidents of pitch invasion are on a rise in India. In most cases, the invaders cause embarrassment for the organisers, cricketers and often the viewers too.

On Day Three of the second Test between India and South Africa in Pune, a fan had breached the security cover.

Sunil Gavaskar, who was on the commentary duty at that time, raised concerns about the security of players after that incident.

"These incidents happen because security people are not watching the crowd but are watching the match. This has been the perennial problem in India. The security is not there to watch the match for free. They are there to stop such interruptions from happening," Gavaskar had said.

"I say put the camera on the security and check whether they are watching the match or the crowd. This is a dangerous security issue which is what you are there for, to make sure no one goes into the ground. Anyone can cause damage to a player. It has happened in the past, why take a chance," Gavaskar had added.

As far as the series in concerned, India crushed Bangladesh by an innings and 130 runs inside three days to take 1-0 lead in the two-match rubber on Saturday.

The second and final match is a day-night clash, with India hosting their first-ever pink-ball Test at Kolkata's Eden Gardens from November 22.

A fan on Wednesday breached the bio-bubble and security protocol on day one of the ongoing third Test between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as he entered the field of play to meet India captain Virat Kohli. However, Kohli was quick to spot him from far away and he immediately took a few steps back, asking the fan to return. On realising his mistake, the fan turned back and seeing that the entire crowd started cheering.

As part of the bio-bubble protocols, there is a high amount of strictness and the players and match officials are not allowed to meet anybody. Even, the training sessions before the match are held with every precaution taken care of. 50 per cent crowd has been allowed in the ongoing pink-ball Test at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

When ANI contacted a GCA official about the fan breaching the protocols, he replied: "We will look into the matter and we will find out who the fan was. Some sort of action we will take as the matter is serious and safety of everyone is of utmost importance."

In the match, Ishant Sharma playing the 100th Test provided India with the first breakthrough and after the first wicket, the spinners took over the mantle from the pacer. Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar spun a web over visitors to bundled out them for 112 in the first innings.

India ended the opening day of the pink-ball Test against England in the driver's seat as Rohit hit a half-century to take the hosts at 99/3. India are trailing by 13 runs in the first innings with seven wickets in the bag.

After surviving the five overs in the tricky twilight phase and then battling out for 14.5 overs and India lost their first wicket off the last ball of the 15th overs when Jofra Archer dismissed Shubman Gill for a 51-ball 11. He skied an attempted pull to give Zak Crawley an easy catch. Minutes later, the hosts lost Cheteshwar Pujara as he was trapped in front by Jack Leach.

Meanwhile, Rohit continued his good form and completed his half-century. Rohit and Kohli also brought up the fifty-run partnership to steady the Indian ship after two quick wickets. But Leach struck again to break the 64-run stand for the third wicket as Kohli chopped the ball onto his stumps.

    Mayhem!

    Where is security?

The ongoing second Test between India and Sri Lanka was halted abruptly for a while on Sunday following a security breach as the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru. At the stroke of stumps on second day, three fans entered the field after dodging the security arrangement.

All of them dashed towards former Indian captain Virat Kohli. As reported by news agency PTI, one of the three fans managed to click a selfie with Virat Kohli before being whisked away by the security personnel.

The incident happened in the sixth over of the Sri Lanka’s chase of 447; when Kusal Mendis was getting attended by the team physio after being hit by a Mohammed Shami delivery. Sensing an opportunity to see their star player from close, three fans managed to breach the fenced area and ran towards the players.

One of them managed to get close to Kohli, who was standing in slip area. The fan took his mobile out and asked the senior batter for a selfie and Kohli, much to his delight, obliged. The security personnel rushed towards the players and, after a bit of jostle, managed to get control of the fans.

One spectator had also managed to enter the playing area during the first Test in Mohali.

Sri Lanka were 28/1 at stumps on Day 2 and needed 419 runs to beat India in the second and final Test. Resuming their second innings from 199/5 after the dinner break, India added 104 more runs in the third session before declaring on 303-9 in the second innings and setting a target of 447 runs for Sri Lanka to win.

Shreyas Iyer top-scored for India 67 while Rishabh Pant brought up the fastest Test fifty by an Indian off just 28 balls. On the other hand, spinner Praveen Jayawickrama was Sri Lanka’s highest wicket-taker with 4-78 while Lasith Embuldeniya picked three wickets (3/87).

Virat Kohli is someone who carries his emotion on his sleeves and never shies away from giving back his piece of mind to bowlers. On this occasion, the former India captain was spotted schooling a fan who allegedly bothered youngster Kamlesh Nagarkoti during the ongoing warm-up game against Leicestershire.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Kohli can be seen shutting down a supporter for his behaviour towards the young quick. The fan was continuously asking Nagarkoti for a picture. The 22-year-old Indian isn't a part of the squad but travelling with the team as a net bowler.

The fan mentioned that he had taken a leave from his job for the game and he deserved a picture with Nagarkoti. "I've been continuously asking for a photo. I came here after taking the day off from my office. So, I've been calling Nagarkoti to click a photo with me at least," he said. Kohli responded with, “He is here to play the match, and not to click photos.

Fans shouldn't be allowed to run on the pitch. It is a security risk.

Erect some type of netting maybe.
