Averaging 50+ in FC is no joke. Got to respect these guys. The reason Fawad, Saad deserved a run.

I totally agree, they deserve a go. I am just saying stats shouldnt be the only criteria, root also averaged mid 30s in FC when he made his debut for Eng.

    Excellent Day of Test Cricket.
Credit to Pakistan. They lost 2 quick wickets in the first hour but grafted their way out of the mess.
Quickfire 30-40 from Sarfaraz will help. 300+ will be a good total on this slow surface.
But Asad Shafique. What can i say.

Also they have been performing consistently so definitely deserve their oppurtunity.

Good day for Pak despite NZ bowling good lines backed up by excellent fielding. In the end two suicidal wickets made it respectable performance for NZ on paper. Amazing turnaround by Haris and kudos to PP darling tailender Azhar.

I think, Dean Jones (one of the best ever in rotating strike), once explained - taking singles are like net practice - you have 5 holes (gaps) and what you need is to adjust your body balance & footwork to get into position and guide almost every ball into one of those holes, on either feet using your wrists. Unless ball is coming on to bat, it's impossible to learn rotating strike - and it's a learned skill, not genetic .... otherwise some of the best ever rotators won't have come from PAK - Javed, Asif, Zaheer, Malik (Salim), Inzi, MoYo ..... even YK is a fantastic 4th innings player because he never allowed bowlers to target him for 10-12 balls at one go on 4th-5th day tricky wicket (somehow, it didn't work for him in ODI)- and these players learned their initial game batting in 600-700 sort of innings.

Umar started career with fantastic rotator, then UAE & PAK domestic wicket made him a "cow slasher" .... now probably that slasher word is also missing from there.
We learn cricket with Lot tape ball, which is apart from no foot work is mainly bottom hand game.... Bottom hand is for power, soft touch ball mounivering is done by top hand. We don’t learn to use top hand during early years. Top hand is fundamental skill of batting, there is a reason we have very poor batting culture in general.

Tape ball is good development nursery for fast balling. Ball is light, you can complete your action at young age, develop good arm speed, learn to pitch the ball at fuller length, try to swing the ball, and generate pace. all this without knowing that you are developing all those skills.

More like what was he smoking when he said that. For me Younis was the only one who would consistently score big runs.

This partnership is key. We need to see the future tomorrow.
Oh and boo to all those who thought Harris couldn't bat for more than a session and a bit.
There is still plenty of time in this game we need to keep them out there and the runs will come. Batting first our tail will make runs if they don't have to come in under any scoreboard pressure.
Big day for Babar tomorrow inshaAllah

Pakistan will win this without any doubt because they are batting first here. However, they should have rather been dominant after winning the toss and bat first situation in UAE.

270/3 should have been a score Pakistan should be at.

Felt they batted more aggressively in last 15 overs, otherwise a 180-190 was what it looked after 90 overs.

Pakistan will win this. NZ aren't good enough to win a match in Asia batting 4th inning in the game after losing the toss.

Solid work to get to where we are at after those first 2 wickets fell in the first 45 minutes of the game.

Pak did just ok, if they can add 80 runs in tomorrow’s session with max 3 wickets loss then its their match. This pitch is not easy to bat unlike previous dubai pitches.

I was in the stadium and some ardent kiwi supporters thought it was Pak’s day since only 4 wickets fell. They felt 6/7 wickets were sth they should have got,

For Pakistan bowling Ross Taylor and K. Williamson wickets are the key. I feel Bilal Asif will be a threat on this surface unlike Abu Dhabi Test.

After a terrible start as usual we ended the day on a positive note. Would have been even better had Azhar still been at the crease. Still believe we need 400 to put any pressure on the Black Caps.
