Soldier seen in videos key suspect in UP cop killing, fled to Kashmir

Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh: A soldier has emerged as a key suspect in the killing of a police inspector in mob frenzy over cow slaughter in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr on Monday. Police sources say they are investigating whether Jeetu Fauji, an army jawan posted in Srinagar, could have fired the shot that killed Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh. A senior officer investigating the incident told NDTV it is too soon to say conclusively that Jeetu Fauji is the one who shot inspector Singh.

Two police teams have been sent to Jammu and Kashmir to track down Jeetu Fauji, who is seen in various videos of the mob violence in Bulandshahr. His mother Ratan Kaur said she could not identify her son from videos of the mob attack.

Other family members of Jeetu Fauji, however, confirm that he was present when the mob killing took place and left for Kargil after the incident. "He came from the spot and said, 'see the drama' and left for Kargil the same evening," said Chandravati, Jeetu's aunt.

Four people have been arrested for the mob violence which erupted after cow carcasses were found scattered in a forest near a village.

Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and his team had gone to the village to tackle the violence when they came under attack. On video, a wild mob is seen chasing the policemen and shouting: "Maaro, take his gun!" Inspector Singh was assaulted with a sharp weapon and then shot in the head.

In one of the mobile videos apparently taken by the rioters, the police officer is seen with a man looking like Jeetu Fauji around the time he was killed.

Jeetu was in the village on the day of the violence and went back to Kashmir the same evening.

Police sources say there are other videos in which the same man is present and part of the mob.

At Jeetu's village, his mother told NDTV the police vandalised their home when they came looking for him on Wednesday. She claimed that her son was in Kargil.

The mother said she did not believe her son had killed inspector Singh. "If he is the one who has killed the inspector then he deserves to be punished," she said.

The slain policeman was investigating Akhlaq Ahmad's case where he was lynched by a cow protecting mob. Just imagine the kind of communal soldiers there are in Indian army. When they do this in India, what are they capable of doing in Kashmir where they enjoy impunity.

So Indian army also has a communal attitude where Muslims and those investigating cases of injustice against Muslims are systematically targetted. Shocked, not even once.

About time Muslims of India raised their voice and revolted against the anti-Muslim agenda of Communal Indian Army.

It will be shoved under the carpet by India's right wing media or we will be told the murdering soldier was a Pakistani who crossed the border.

Shocking but not surprising, its election time in India and expect these kinds of incidents to increase to attract a particular set of voters. The democracy in 3rd world countries is a lie and the multi-party election process makes it worse where the parties would stoop to any level to win.

only a suspect, nothing proved yet. it is well known that the police hate the army and will try to malign a brave patriotic soldier to hide their own flaws. so let us wait for full inquiry before jumping to conclusions.

Bulandshahr violence: Army detains jawan for allegedly killing cop

22 Rashtriya Rifles detained Jitendra Malik from Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir.

    HIGHLIGHTS
Jitendra Malik is also known as Jeetu Fauji
He will be handed over to Uttar Pradesh Police today
Police believe it was his pistol that killed the inspector

The Army soldier who is suspected of killing a policeman during Bulandshahr violence in Uttar Pradesh has been detained by his unit in Jammu and Kashmir and will be handed over to Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday.

Jitendra Malik, alias Jeetu Fauji, was detained from 22 Rashtriya Rifles Army camp in Sopore. Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and a 22-year-old undergraduate student Sumit Kumar were killed in the violence that broke out in Bulandshahr apparently after cow carcasses were found strewn in a nearby jungle.

A special investigation team's (SIT) report had suggested that both of them were shot dead with the same bore (.32) pistol or pistols. Police believe the pistol belongs to Jeetu Fauji who reportedly opened fire, killing the policeman.

Subodh Singh's post-mortem examination report has said that a bullet entered the police officer's skull and remained stuck there. The bullet entry wound was 1.5 cm by 1 cm. An X-ray of Singh's head clearly showed the bullet stuck in the rear of the skull.

The post-mortem examination also found four to six marks of injuries inflicted by stones.

Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh had initially probed the lynching of Mohammed Akhlaq, and the death is, hence, being linked with to the 2015 episode.

Subodh Singh's wife and son have alleged conspiracy in view of this and asked the state government for an appropriate probe into this.

BULANDSHAHR VIOLENCE AN ACCIDENT: YOGI ADITYANATH

Yogi Adityanath, who is under constant attack from the Opposition, has termed the riot an "accident". He has also asserted that mob lynchings don't take place in Uttar Pradesh. "There is no incident of mob-lynching in Uttar Pradesh. The Bulandshahr incident is an accident and the law is taking its course. No guilty will be spared," the chief minister said at a media event on Friday.

Yogi had earlier said the incident was the result of a "big conspiracy". However, on Thursday, he met with the family of the policeman and assured them all possible help. Yogi also assured the family that he would pay back the Rs 3 lakh loan on their name. A Rs 50 lakh compensation to the family was already announced by the state government.

Meanwhile, a new video has surfaced online, suggesting the 20-year-old youth, who was killed in the violence, could be a part of the group that pelted stones on policemen.

Me too, considering how BJP and its allies are trying to infiltrate the politics in Kashmir, not that the ones who we have at the helm are any good but i had never thought that bjp could make such ground in kashmir.

Talking about Indian army's atrocities in kashmir, well the less we talk about it the better it is, hardly makes any difference, the world community is hardly bothered.
