Babar Azam's lack of big hundreds

Even though he has scored a lot of 100s in international cricket but the issue is that most of his hundreds are in excess of 100-120. For me that is not enough. In order to be an ATG you need to convert those 100s into big hundreds.

His highest in Tests is 127*

His highest in ODIs is 125*

Well Sachin never had a single triple hundred.

I would rather have him score consistently than scoring a high score against a minnow and fail in the next 8 innings like Shehzad, Akmal and company

Wasim Akram and jason Gillespie have double hundreds in Test. Double tons are overrated, but if it means anything then I believe Babar can get 300 in this innings by the end of it.

It'll come with time, he seems to have become a century scoring machine the last few months.

As long as the batsman scores enough runs for his side to win thatís all that matters so far he hasnít done that. Big hundreds are personal milestones winning score of even 1 is more valuable to the team than a double hundred.

Scoring big hundreds doesn't make you an ATG, enforcing results with your batting or holding onto your wicket to turn losses into draws makes you the better batsman. I'd rather him score tougher hundreds or even fifties than to score easy doubles and triples.

Babar at 116*, his highest score so far in the World Test Championship. Previous best was 115*. Babar also currently sits at an average of 117.4 in the WTC over 5 matches/8 innings, highest in the tournament.

Babar hasn't been that great in Test but he is still averaging over 45. He also played many of his Tests in SENA countries.

He should score big in this Test and he is looking good.

Especially against the highly ranked countries, whether Pak is playing against them or not is not our headache...he must prove himself capable :-)

Early days of a player's career and too much of micro-analysis will take us nowhere and this is another such example.

It takes time to get the process right and once that is done, big runs, big tons, double tons all start flowing as we can see for Babar since that Australia tour.

Anything below 300 runs against this bowling attack is a fail for Babar Azam. If David Warner can smash an attack consisting of Abbas, Musa, Yasir and Naseem (Much more superior to this bangladesh attack) effortlessly for 300+ then there should be nothing stopping Babar to do the same.

Seems to be a lot of talk about "what Babar Azam has to do" these days.

Babar doesn't have to do anything to prove himself to these online geeks setting arbitrary conditions for greatness. All that matters is whether he has contributing to Pakistan winning matches - fifties, hundreds or double hundreds.

The quality of an innings isn't just the volume of runs, but the match situation, the opposition strength, the occasion etc. What's the use of a double ton in a drawn Test on a road versus a gritty fifty to see you through a chase of 180 on a turning Day 5 pitch ?

I think he should go for 300. This type of opportunity doesn't come often.

Can't see BD dismissing him. He is on fire and BD attack is toothless.

As a BD fan, I would have loved to see him out early on.

But, now that BD are out of the game, I want Babar to score big. I hope he reaches 300.

I am a big fan of him.
