For Indian Punjabis on the board, is Khalistan a strictly Jatt Sikh movement?
Cosnidering how divided Sikhism is along caste lines, does Khalistan enjoy the support of all Sikh castes like Dalits, Khatris, Kambhoj, Ramgharhia etc? I was just watching a podcast on Khalistan and I get a feeling it is mostly a minority but vocal Jatt Sikh movement.

In reprisal mode after London embassy attack, India scales down security at British embassy, High Commisioner's house
New Delhi: India has removed all external security in front of the British High Commission and the High Commissioner’s residence here in New Delhi following the recent attack by Khalistani extremists on Indian High Commission in London.
The development came days after the tricolour flying atop the Indian High Commission in London was grabbed by a group of protesters waving separatist Khalistani flags and chanting pro-Khalistani slogans on Sunday, leading to an arrest related to the violent disorder.
The Indian community held a large gathering on Tuesday in front of the Indian High Commission against the “disrespectful act” of Khalistan supporters and demanded the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and the British government to act against separatist Khalistani supporters who pulled down the Indian flag flying atop the Indian High Commission in London.
Taking strong note of the incident, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said on Monday the perpetrators need to be “arrested and prosecuted”. “We have already put out India’s response to it in which UK Deputy High Commissioner was asked for an explanation. Perpetrators need to be arrested and prosecuted. We have clearly indicated to the British authorities the need to put up security at UK High Commission,” Kwatra said.
India on Sunday night had summoned the British deputy high commissioner and demanded an explanation over the complete “absence of security”. In a strongly-worded statement, the Ministry of External Affairs said India finds “unacceptable” the indifference of the UK government to the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel in the UK.

Attack looming on British High Commission in India now as a revenge?

Pro-Khalistan protesters shouted slogans, threw water bottles and ink at the London Metropolitan police today, who kept them confined to the other side of the road, a safe distance from the Indian High Commission. For the protesters, the immediate provocation was the bigger Indian flag draped over the walls of India House. The High Commission employees had retaliated with a bigger flag a day after Sunday's unprecedented vandalism, when the Indian flag was pulled down and the windows of the building were broken.
The London police had appeared ready for the protesters' show of strength today, deploying forces in 24 buses as well as the mounted police.
While the protest started small, the numbers grew as the evening advanced. By late evening, around 2,000 protesters had turned up at the spot, the police said. The mood got ugly as they tried to break the barricade and targeted the police with water bottles, ink and powdered colours. The police said they will evacuate the spot if the protest escalates any further.
The extra security in London came shortly after the police in New Delhi removed traffic barricades outside the British High Commission, in a move interpreted by some as a demonstration of India's displeasure with the breach in London. The police have explained the move as removal of barricades that were "creating hurdles" for commuters.
Late on Sunday evening, India summoned a senior British diplomat in Delhi to register its strong protest over the "complete absence of British security" as the crowd targeted the building, protesting against the crackdown on Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh and his group.
"An explanation was demanded for the complete absence of the British security that allowed these elements to enter the High Commission premises," the foreign ministry had said.

UK cop joins solidarity show after Khalistani attack on Indian mission in London
Nick, a UK police officer, joined in the show of support as he danced to a Bollywood song with members of the Indian-origin community outside the Indian High Commission in London, days after the Khalistani attack.
A cop joining in with some dodgy bhangra means he is in solidarity with India.
The scenes in London show India has no influence apart from in Bombay and Delhi.
The Sikh separatist movement is growing , its daft to deny this.

It does go back to the 80's but weren't the RSS also in conflict with them? Since the BJP row with the farmers, many Sikhs if not most hate India as a nation or a nation which should rule them.
Christians, Muslims and Sikhs really dont want to live under the rule of Hindutva extremists. You cant blame them.

My grandfather told us that before partition they lived in harmony with Muslims and Hindus in Lahore. The differences were considered minor. The common enemy was the British, though caste system racism was powerful back then within faiths as well. Best case scenario for Sikhs is to coexist. There should be no caste system in Sikhs, but some Sikhs with Jat background used to consider themselves to be the aggressive superior race compared to other Sikhs.

Where do you get your news from? Only some Khalistani types and some brainwashed Muslims from Kashmir don't want to be with india. Christians are extremely patriotic. They know who they are and they are very well educated.
There are some political parties in India who seem to be fanning the Khalistani dumbos. They will soon be exposed.

Common enemy is radicalism, poverty etc. Using khalistan and religious propaganda may help the amoral governments win elections by fooling people, but India and Pakistan boundaries are not going to change due to this. Looking at each other as the enemy continues to fuel the stalemate and is good for neither country. Sikhs are collateral damage in this. Saying Sikhs can have Khalistan is like saying India can have most of Pakistan areas or Pakistan can have Kashmiri and other parts of India. This goes along the philosophical statement I read-‘ if you think the world is adversarial, then you will have many adversaries’

British foreign minister James Cleverly on Wednesday said the country will review security at the Indian High Commission in London following "unacceptable acts of violence" towards the mission's staff.
Earlier this week, India summoned the most senior British diplomat in New Delhi to protest at the actions taken by "separatist and extremist elements" against the country's mission in London.
The BBC and Indian media reported that protesters with "Khalistan" banners detached the Indian flag from the first-floor balcony of the diplomatic mission's building earlier, to protest against the recent police action in India's Punjab state. Khalistan refers to an independent Sikh state sought by some groups but which does not exist.
According to the BBC, crowds had gathered outside the high commission's building on Sunday and windows were broken, after which India demanded an explanation for the "complete absence of the British security" around the premises.
On Wednesday, Indian daily The Hindu reported that at least a hundred police officers were standing guard on both sides of the road outside the High Commission in London on Wednesday.
Cleverly said that police investigation was ongoing after the acts of violence and that the country will make the necessary changes to ensure the safety of the Indian mission's staff as it did for demonstrations on Wednesday.

Not asking for Pakistani punjab, no concern or debate about ousting of sikhs from pakistani punjab and no religious freedom cor sikhs in pak-punjab.
To a few hopeful and deluded pakistanis, this seem like a happening movement bjt is nothing but a Money-backed and politically supported issue.
They can't do a thing with zero support from indian punjab
And funny thing is,
In indian punjab they ,Sikhs have absolute religious freedom, minority privileges and rhey can even have rallies with abuses. Against hindu gods.
As opposes to doing same in pakistani punjab, sikhs will be behaded or worse.
When they cant even ask for 60% kf thier ex-empire land that they claim is the biggest farce and The Visible proof of Support from thier masters.

Sikhs can never survive in muslim majority country, most radicals hate sikhs for thier offensive mentality and fight against mughals.
Yes there was harmony before beacuse , british were the common enemy but biggest problem with majority muslim state is that there will be systematic Discrimination of non-muslims so such harmony could never last.
The fact that india js democracy is only because hindus are secular.
Sry , nkt trying to spread hate but its the truth and god i wish india dont push forward with hindu rastra thing as any religious state is bout to fail due to Radicalism.

Nah, they won't. What you see in West is 15% of Sikh population in Canada and 10% in UK. Their leaders have backing of ISI and association with drug cartels in Punjab. You don't see 90% of the educated Sikhs having anything to do with these illiterates. The reason the pseudo Khalistanis in Canada are particularly concerned now is because Punjab government and Central government are coordinated behind the scenes to tackle the drug mafia . The current noise has nothing to do with religion actually.
-
24th March 2023, 11:27 #262
Well it's the drugs that are driving people out of Punjab in droves. And most are coming here on student visas for education purposes. The pro-khalistani supporters are not un-educated, they're well off Sikhs. There is no ISI connection especially when they're busy managing the internal affairs of Pakistan. The recent movements have nothing to do with Pakistan and are organic. They're organized by the Punjabi-Sikh diaspora itself.

Yeh, its so obvious when none of those khalistani noice making videos ever contain anything promoting sikhism or anything related to gurus, i wonder if the ever read any scriptures.
All i see in those videos is, you hindus this and you hindu that.
No critical or even reflecting debate on the topic and they love to come in herds and intimidate others around.
Not to mention , wonderfully, there is never police around whenever they attack anything indian around the world.
One would wonder why so much hate for hindus who are secular and peace loving and have always put sikhs on pedestal , as opposed to other part of the punjab where most of them were ousted and brutally raped and beheaded at time of independence.
Whats even funnier that, if you look at most of these khalistani leaders , they were completely westernized and half of them not even caring for thier Kirpan but suddenly they are wearing full on traditional cloths and acting to be real sikhs.
I've spend so much time in punjab as well as gujarat but have never met a single khalistani supporter.
They are digging thier own grave in foreign countries with creating tension as sooner or later there will be some action from the governments and then they will cry racism and discrimination and what not.

Around the world and inc in India. The large numbers of Sikhs abroad almost all travel to India have family members who believe the same. Again, its daft to deny this.
They dont want any land in the UK, they are happy and doing well. There are very small numbers in Pakistani Punjab so its best to give them their own nation , Punjab of current day India. India is a huge nation, you have all of Tamil and UP, what more do you want .

Indian police have shut down the internet in the Punjab region as part of an operation to apprehend a separatist leader. The initiative began last weekend, and while the manhunt for Amritpal Singh is ongoing, the online restrictions were mostly lifted on Tuesday, according to official reports.
This was part of the police’s attempt to apprehend Singh, the leader of the Waris Punjab De organization, which calls for the creation of Khalistan, an independent Sikh state. To arrest him, the authorities have deployed various measures across the whole state of Punjab, including installing roadblocks and banning protests and any mass gatherings.
The police also shut down internet access and SMS services for the region’s residents to "prevent any incitement to violence and any disturbance of peace and public order." The Indian government also requested that Twitter withhold 122 accounts, which the authorities deemed linked to Singh, according to an official order, as cited by the media.
Singh gained notoriety when he led an armed protest at a police station in Ajnala, a small town in Punjab, in February. Hundreds of his followers stormed the building with guns and swords, demanding the release of Lovepreet 'Toofan' Singh, who they believe was wrongfully accused of a kidnapping. This event was the trigger for the current manhunt against Singh, with the police accusing him and Waris Punjab De of "anti-national activities," among other crimes.
Punjab police chief Sukhchain Singh Gill announced that, during this operation, the authorities arrested 154 people "for disturbing peace and harmony" and 37 more were "taken in preventive custody." He added that, despite the efforts of law enforcement officers, the separatist leader managed to escape by motorcycle, after changing clothes to avoid identification. However, Gill stated that many of Singh’s allies, including those who helped him evade the police, were now in custody.
Sikh politicians in India and abroad have condemned the sweeping police measures and targeting of "innocent Sikh" people. The president of the Sikh-centric Shiromani Akali Dal party, Sukhbir Singh Badal, called the manhunt a "reign of repression and terror" aimed at defaming "the most patriotic Sikh community" in a tweet on Monday.

India has demanded “action” against the perpetrators just days after pro-Khalistani activists reportedly vandalised Indian missions in the US and the UK.
The Indian government said on Friday that it would like to see “action” — and not just words of “assurance” — against the perpetrators.
Arindam Bagchi, official spokesperson for the Indian ministry of external affairs told the media on Friday that India hoped the host governments would “prosecute those involved in these incidents instead of holding out assurances”.
To convey its displeasure over the incidents, the Indian government summoned diplomats from the UK and the US and lodged a strong protest.
Mr Bagchi said that the Indian government expects the US and the UK to take precautions and preventive measures so as to avoid such incidents taking place in the future.
“I think we are not just interested in assurances, I think we would like to see action,” he said.
Mr Bagchi also said that India had raised the issue with the Canadian government as well. “It is our expectation that in any country our diplomats can perform their legitimate and normal diplomatic duties and that the host government will ensure a conducive environment for doing so.”
Earlier, Indian external affairs minister, S Jaishankar had also taken a strong view of pro-Khalistan supporters pulling down the Indian tricolour at the Indian High Commission in the United Kingdom.
India would not accept differential standards of security, he said.
Mr Jaishankar also accused the UK government of not meeting the obligation of providing security to the diplomats of the Indian mission.
“On the flag and the security of the high commission, in this particular case in the UK – whenever any country sends an embassy anywhere abroad, it is the obligation of the receiving country to provide security for a diplomat to do his work,” he added.
“It is the obligation of the receiving country to ensure the embassy or the high commission or the consulate and their premises are respected. These obligations were not met.”
Meanwhile, it was reported that a group of Indian-Americans held a rally in front of the consulate in San Francisco on Friday after the consulate was vandalised by pro-Khalistan activists earlier last week.

Canada is "very closely" following the developments in Punjab and will continue to address the concerns of the community, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly has said amid Punjab Police's crackdown on radical preacher Amritpal Singh.
Ms Joly was answering a question from Indo-Canadian MP Iqwinder S Gaheer in the House of Commons on Thursday.
"We are aware of the evolving situation in Punjab, and we are following it very closely. We look forward to a return to a more stable situation," she said.

INDIA REMOVES SECURITY OUTSIDE UK HIGH COMMISSION
The Indian government has removed security outside UK High Commission in New Delhi over BBC documentary against Narendra Modi and the removal of the flag from its high commission in London by the Khalistan protestors.
On Sunday, the Indian flag at the High Commission in London was brought down by a pro-Khalistan protestor. India summoned the UK deputy high commissioner to India to lodge a protest and accused the British government of “indifference” to the security of diplomatic premises.
The Narendra Modi government is using ill-tactics against the UK government after its flag was taken down by the Khalistan protestors.
The Modi government has removed the security outside the UK HC and announced to construct of public toilets outside the high commission.
Meanwhile, the UK government has opposed such construction in the highly sensitive zone.
Khalistan Referendum campaign — in which Sikhs are asked to answer the question “Should Indian-governed Punjab be an independent country?” — has drawn fierce opposition from New Delhi, Indian media and pro-India segments of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs).

Indian Journalist Attacked, Threats Against Envoy At US Khalistan Protest
The Indian embassy in the US condemned the "grave and unwarranted attack" on journalist Lalit Jha.
Washington-based Indian journalist Lalit Jha was physically attacked and verbally abused by Khalistan supporters in Washington while he was covering a pro-Khalistan protest outside the Indian Embassy on Saturday afternoon. The Indian embassy in the US has condemned the incident.
Mr Jha on Sunday thanked US Secret Service for protecting him, and helping him do his job. He said he was hit on his left ear with two sticks by the Khalistan supporters. He also shared a video of the Khalistan supporters on his Twitter handle.
"Thank you @SecretService 4 my protection 2day 4 helping do my job, otherwise I would have been writing this from hospital. The gentleman below hit my left ear with these 2 sticks & earlier I had to call 9/11 & rushed 2 police van 4 safety fearing physical assault," Mr Jha tweeted on Sunday.
"At one point I felt so threatened that I called 911. I then spotted Secret Service officers and narrated the incident to them," Mr Jha told ANI, adding that the protesters took charge of the situation.
However, the journalist decided to take no action against those who heckled him.
"The pro-Khalistan protesters in support of Amritpal (Singh) waved Khalistan flags and descended upon the embassy in the presence of the US Secret Service. They even openly threatened to vandalize the embassy and threatened the Indian Ambassador Taranjit Singh Sandhu," Mr Jha told ANI.

India summoned Canada’s High Commissioner on Sunday to “convey strong concern” over Sikh protesters in Canada and how they were allowed to breach the security of India’s diplomatic mission and consulates.
According to Canadian media reports, hundreds of protesters gathered in front of the Indian consulate in Vancouver on Saturday over demands for an independent Sikh state, a simmering issue for decades recently triggered again.
Canada has the highest population of Sikhs outside their home state of Punjab in India.

Top Sikh Body's Ultimatum To Punjab Cops Amid Crackdown On Separatist
Akal Takht jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the state government to release Sikh youths picked up during the crackdown
Amritsar: The Akal Takht has issued a strong statement against the Bhagwant Mann government and the centre over the Punjab Police crackdown against separatist preacher Amritpal Singh, questioning why similar action is not taken against "those who demand Hindu Rashtra".
Akal Takht jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the state government to release Sikh youths picked up during the crackdown against the separatist preacher. He was addressing a gathering of Sikh organisations comprising intellectuals, lawyers, journalists, religious and social leaders to discuss the situation in Punjab.
The Akal Takht is the highest seat of authority for the Sikhs and its Jathedar their top spokesperson.
Questioning why the stringent National Security Act was invoked against those arrested for allegedly supporting Singh and his demand for Khalistan, he said, "There are lakhs who demand Hindu rashtra. Those who are calling for Hindu Rashtra should also be booked .They should also be booked under NSA."
Chief Minister Mann has said he has asked the state police to release those taken into preventive custody if they were not found involved in any anti-national activity. However, he said, strict action will be taken against anyone who tries to disturb peace.
Punjab Police has said it has released 197 persons out of the 353 taken into preventive custody.
The Akal Takht jathedar has cautioned against any violent protest and said that if the arrested youth were not released, "we must not get aggressive but must answer them diplomatically". He said they will approach the high court for the release of those in police custody.
He has said the Akal Takht will take up this matter across the country and the world after Baisakhi. "We will tell them what is being done to us," he said.

As the hunt for Amritpal Singh continues, intelligence agencies claim to have found a new Pakistan link to the separatist.
Amritpal Singh's financier Daljit Kalsi is close to the son of former Pakistan army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa, sources say.
Kalsi was associated with the Dubai-based company of Saad Bajwa, they said. He is believed to have gone to Dubai for two months.
Kalsi's stay in Dubai was allegedly arranged by Khalistani terrorist Landa Harike.
According to sources, there is evidence that he was in contact with the Pakistani Inter Services Intelligence or ISI.
Kalsi is allegedly also associated with a gangster close to the Bambiha gang and is close to gangster Neeraj Bawania, who is in Delhi's Tihar Jail.
Kalsi set up an office in Delhi a while back and worked as an agent for modelling or movie contracts in Punjab.
He is Amritpal's closest friend and confidant, according to sources.
Amritpal Singh, a 30-year-old radical Sikh preacher, has been disguising himself and has been moving around in different vehicles to dodge police and security forces looking for him and members of his 'Waris Punjab De' since March 18.
Intelligence agencies believe Amritpal Singh is involved in a wide range of "illegal activities" including sourcing weapons from Pakistan through ISI for alleged attempts to divide Punjab on communal lines.
Amritpal Singh, the chief of radical outfit "Waris Punjab De", claims to be a follower of the Khalistani separatist and terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, and his supporters call him "Bhindranwale 2.0."
More than 100 people have been arrested and the stringent National Security Act has been slapped on his close aides.

Oh come on. All evidence points to this guy having this separatist rhetoric developed in India. Also how is ISI funding all the Khalistan Sikhs in Australia, Canada, UK, USA and Europe?
The reality is, him and other Sikhs point out injustices in the Indian Constitution as Sikhi being under Hinduism even though it is a separate religion, the lack of autonomy that Punjabis have within their state compared to the power the central government has and the historic treatment of Sikhs in India.
Are these injustices enough to want a separate state? In my opinion, no but the Indian government lack of answerable actions to these grievances are driving this movement not supposed funding from the ISI.

Just so you know, as you may not be Punjabi, Punjabi does not equal Sikhs and they do not own Punjab. Punjabi Muslims have a much longer history and have historically controlled Punjab much longer than the Sikh empire. Punjabi Muslims and their Castes have existed well before Sikhism was even founded. There are 4 times as many Punjabi Pakistani Muslims in Punjab than there are Sikhs in the whole world.
The reality is, Indian Punjabi Sikhs don't want Pakistan Punjab because they would be crushed by sheer size of the Muslim population, they would be a minority in a unified punjab and will only make up less the 20% of the population.

Not possible. Indian state would never willingly part with even an inch of it's land as it would open a can of worms, breathing a fresh air into various dormant separatist movements.
Sikhs are fighting a lost battle, they would be brutally crushed next time. It's not easy to withstand the might of the Indian state.
NRI Sikhs are mostly losers like their Hindu counterparts. Druggies and Paindoos.

You are right. This narrative of equating the Punjabi identity to Sikhism has been the work of Singh Sabhas , carefully nurtured by the Sikh intellectuals of the 20th century.
Later on it received support from sanghi hindus , a clique of cowardly people, who endorsed it in the hope that Sikhs would support them in their endeavour eventually allowing the absorption of their small panth into the mainstream Hinduism.
Punjabi Muslims have a much greater and longer history.
Muslim Rajputs had been the masters of this land long before the Sikhs appeared on to the scene.
But then again why fault Hindus or Sikhs when your lot have themselves forgotten the glorious history of Muslim Punjabis.
Abdullah Bhatti is cherished more in Indian Punjab.
Your love for Islamic extremism has led to Pak Punjabis forgetting their roots.

Brilliantly put.
About 40 percent of Punjab is Hindus I believe ? and majority of the Sikhs do not want any part of Khalistan but yeah, lets create a separate state just for the minority Sikhs, great logic there MR Osama.
To be fair the Balochi's have more of a claim, they have been conducting insurgency, bombings, uprising consistently for freedom from Pakistan, while the handful of Sikhs in India and a few nobody Sikhs outside of India have been crying for Khalistan aka Emptyland.
Freedom for Baluchistan first then we will ponder on what to do with minority Sikhs outside of India.

Lots of Indians have grievances against the Indian govt. Most of them are Hindus, in fact. And Punjab gets as much autonomy as every other Indian state. The other states are not all asking for separation.
This guy Amritpal Singh was a nobody. He was driving lorries in Dubai a couple of years ago. He suddenly returns to India, pushes the Khalistani agenda and starts driving around Punjab in luxury cars with a band of armed thugs. I ask you, where did the money come from?
And if there was a real sentiment in favour of Khalistan among Indian Sikhs, they would have found a real leader within themselves, a person who knew the land and its people well. Why would they rally behind this imported lorry driver who most people barely knew till a few months ago?
It doesn't add up. Even Bhindranwale was a better leader. At least he lived and worked in Punjab, had some serious Sikh followers and actually fomented a fairly successful Khalistan movement in the 1980s. Even that ended up nowhere.
I actually blame the Indian media and observers who gave this joker Amritpal so much coverage. He probably would have vanished from sight if everyone had ignored him.

Please see below for what I stated about the Khalistan movement and you replied to this as well.
Are these injustices enough to want a separate state? In my opinion, no!
In terms of Balochistan, I can point out Kashmir as well considering it literally fits with all the criteria you just mentioned. Balochistan freedom movement is also more so online and overseas related, very few Balochs actually want to be seperate from Pakistan. Great example of this would be the Quetta Vs Peshawar exhibition match held in Quetta. You had a full house with no anti Pakistan jeers or protest. It was so in demand that people were actually causes a ruckus outside the stadium as they couldn't get seats.
In contrast, here is the first time India played in Srinagar.
Things took a different shape next morning. The Indians were booed by a section of the crowd the moment they arrived for the pre-match warm-ups. The jeering spread across the ground, taking both sides by surprise.
Sunil Gavaskar later wrote in Runs ’n’ Ruins: “Being hooted at after a defeat is understandable, but this was incredible. Moreover, there were many in the crowd shouting pro-Pakistan slogans which confounded us, because we were playing the West Indies and not Pakistan.”

Amritpal Singh was not born and bread in Dubai, we moved their as a migrant and moved back to India during the farmer protests. He made videos while in Dubai on social media and he wasn't a Khalistani then, he wasn't even a religious person then. He's change of attitude all happened in India during the Farmer Protest.
In regards to grievances, the number 1 issue in India today is the manufactured injustices that Hindus believe that are being done to them. It's to the point of absurdity that you think that Bollywood, Congress and anything that even remotely is pro minority rights is suddenly hinduphobic.
The BJP have done a wonderful job in brainwashing the hindu population, it somehow convinced the richest and most populous group of people that hold the most power in every field in the country, that you are being oppressed and that to by the most poorest and least powerful portion of its country.

"I Am Not Surrendering": Fugitive Amritpal Singh Goes Live On YouTube
The 30-year-old separatist, who styles himself after the Sikh terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, supports a call for a separate homeland for Sikhs and is wanted for an armed raid on a police station last month.
For the second day in a row, radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh, who has dodged police for last 13 days, released a video on YouTube, saying he will not surrender.
The 30-year-old separatist, who styles himself after the Sikh terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, went missing following a police crackdown against him and members of his pro-Khalistan 'Waris Punjab De' outfit on March 18, about three weeks after he and his supporters stormed the Ajnala police station near Amritsar to secure the release of an arrested man.
The Jathedar of Akal Takht (the highest temporal seat of Sikhs) has asked fugitive Amritpal Singh to surrender before police and cooperate with investigation.

No proof of Pak funding for Khalistan referendum: Canadian expert
Sikh community living outside India generously supports groups standing up against New Delhi, says expert
A leading Canadian public policy thinks tank’s director has said there is no evidence that Pakistan is funding pro-Khalistan groups such as Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), as the Sikh community living outside India generously supports groups standing up against New Delhi.
Terry Milewski, veteran CBC journalist and a senior figure at conservative-leaning public policy think tank Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI), spoke within hours after the SFJ and its counsel general Gurpatwant Singh Pannun issued defamation proceedings against UK Conservative Party’s pro-BJP Lord Rami Ranger at the UK High Court for making false accusations that Pakistan’s spy agency funded the SFJ and its leading figure Mr Pannun.
Terry Milewski is considered close to India’s ruling BJP and he is known for carrying out extensive research on the Sikh diaspora, the Khalistan movement and various pro-Khalistan groups. During a public online debate, he was asked if he believed that the SFK received funding from Pakistan.
The Canadian author and think-tank head replied that he did not believe that Pakistani’s ISI funded the SFJ and its activism. He said there was plenty of evidence that Sikhs generously donate to the causes they like. Terry Milewski said: “I have seen no evidence that Pakistan funds the SFJ, considering the fact that the SFJ raises money through its own sources.
“I don’t think the SFJ has to go to Pakistan for money. Sikhs have been supporting the SFJ generously. They (the SFJ) don’t have to go to Pakistan begging for money as Pakistan doesn’t have enough money.”
Terry Milewski has a long history with the SFJ. In November 2021, the SFJ won the first round of a major defamation case at the Superior Court of Ontario, Canada, against Terry Milewski and think tank Macdonald-Laurier Institute (MLI) over allegations that the SFJ and its Khalistan referendum campaign was a project run, controlled, funded, influenced and financed by Pakistan.

Fair enough to your first point, I didn't read you post where you said Khalistanis didn't warranty a separate.
state.
The balooch movement is alive and kicking, just recently didnt a female suicide bomber blow away a few shops in broad daylight, along with the Chinese people getting constantly harrassed and attacked ? I recall seeing the video of the female suicide bomber here on PP, last time a bombing occurred when it came to the Khalistanis was in 1985 and after that a few overseas Sikhs have been doing bangras on the street and nothing else.
Yes the Kashmir movement at the time of Vaskar was alive and kicking, it still is but is starting to fade, no money coming from Pakistan for the stone pelters, Indian government is investing billions into the state influencing young Kashmir youths away from Pakistani influence etc. I feel with another 10 more years of BJP and it will be the end of extremism, terrorism etc in Kashmir and it will be a flourishing state.
Only hope for Pakistan and Kashmiri seperatists now is Congress winning the next election, otherwise the Kashmiri movement is a dead duck.

Explained: Who Is Amritpal Singh And Why He Is Punjab's Most-Wanted
New Delhi: Not many people had heard of Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh till a couple of months ago. And yet, he is now Punjab's most wanted criminal and such is his following that the state police crackdown against him has sparked protests at Indian embassies abroad.
Who is Amritpal Singh?
The 30-year-old's family is from Jallupur Khera in Punjab's Amritsar district. His family reportedly runs a transport business in Dubai and Amritpal had been staying there since 2012. During the year-long farmers' protest against the centre's now-repealed farm laws, Amritpal travelled to India and joined the agitation. Later, he returned.

What is Waris Punjab De?
Punjabi actor-turned-activist Deep Sidhu, who was arrested over the farmers' protest at Red Fort on January 26, 2021, founded Waris Punjab De after he was granted bail. The stated objective of the outfit was to fight for the "rights of Punjab". After Deep Sidhu's death in an accident last year, Amritpal Singh positioned himself as Waris Punjab De's leader.

Changing The Narrative
According to Deep Sidhu's brother Mandeep, Amritpal's Waris Punjab De is completely different from their outfit with the same name. In an interview with The Indian Express, Mandeep alleged that the Khalistani preacher is "misusing" his brother's name. "Deep had clearly said that talks are the (only) way but Amritpal is clearly asking youths to pick up weapon," he said.

Bhindrawale 2.0
Amritpal Singh was born nine years after Sikh terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was killed in the Army operation in Golden Temple, the most sacred place of worship for the Sikh community. From style to mannerisms, Amritpal projects himself as a Bhindranwale follower. Like the cult leader, he too carries an arrow and moves with armed guards. The differences though are many. Bhindrawale was an out and out religious leader, the head of orthodox Sikh organisation, Damdami Taksal. Prior to his Waris de Punjab avatar, Amritpal doesn't have an orthodox religious background.

The name Amritpal Singh started doing the rounds after a huge mob of his supporters attacked a police station on the outskirts of Amritsar this February. Brandishing swords and using the Sikh holy book as shields, they barged in and extracted an assurance from police that his key aide, a kidnapping case accused Lovepreet Singh, would be released. The incident hit headlines and provided Amritpal a platform from where he made statements calling for an armed rebellion against democratically elected governments for "ultimate goal" of 'Khalistan'.

Allegations Against Amritpal Singh
Post a comment
The latest case against Amritpal Singh has been registered under the Arms Act after a huge cache of weapons was recovered from his aides. According to official sources, he has been maintaining close links with Pakistani intelligence agency ISI and some terrorist groups based abroad, news agency PTI reported. The Khalistani leader is believed to be close to of UK-based Khalistani terrorist Avtar Singh Khanda and he is believed to be a key factor behind his rise to prominence. He was allegedly building a "private militia" of youth from drug deaddiction centres, to be used for violent protests. The deaddiction centres were allegedly also used to stockpile illegally-sourced weapons from Pakistan.

Government sources today refuted reports suggesting India has "disengaged" from trade talks with Britain for failing to condemn the Sikh extremist group that attacked the Indian High Commission in London last month. The reports are "baseless", sources said.
The rebuttal comes soon after UK-based The Times reported about it on Monday, citing British government sources.
Khalistan sympathisers had on March 19 staged a protest demonstration at the Indian High Commission in London against the massive crackdown on radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh, who is still on the run. They took down the Indian flag from the building's first-floor balcony, prompting the Indian mission to put up an even bigger flag in response.
"Indians don't want to talk about trade until they get a very public demonstration of condemnation of Khalistan extremism in the UK," a Whitehall source had told The Times.
A day after the incident at the Indian mission in London, the foreign ministry had summoned the seniormost diplomat of UK in Delhi. In a sharply worded statement, the ministry demanded an explanation for the "absence of security" at the high commission premises and said the UK government's "indifference" to Indian diplomats and personnel was "unacceptable".
British foreign minister James Cleverly had said the country will review security at the Indian High Commission in London following "unacceptable acts of violence" towards the mission's staff.
Khalistan refers to a non-existent independent Sikh state sought by some groups.

Amritpal Singh's aide, mentor Papalpreet Singh arrested
Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh's close aide Papalpreet Singh has been arrested on Monday. Papalpreet Singh has been with the radical Sikh leader as he escaped the police dragnet on March 18 when Punjab Police launched a massive crackdown on Waris Punjab De. Amritpal and Papalpreet travelled together, changing vehicles, as they escaped the chase by the police. From Punjab, they fled to Haryana and probably to Delhi, as captured in CCTV footage, before they entered Punjab again.
The Punjab Police increased its vigil across Punjab ahead of Baisakhi celebrations and rumours that Amritpal Singh was about to surrender. Papalpreet's arrest brings the police closer to Amritpal Singh who is believed to be hiding in Punjab.
Punjab Police chief Gaurav Yadav visited Golden Temple on Monday and said the police will nab whosoever is wanted by the law and it is better that such people submit to the law. Amid reports that Amritpal might have taken shelter at a religious place, the director general of police said religious places should not be used for personal reasons. "Religious places should not be misused," he noted.
Who is Papalpreet Singh, a journalist, Amritpal Singh's mentor?
Papalpreet Singh is believed to be the most trusted aide of Amritpal Singh with ISI links. He mentored Amritpal as he took over the reins of Waris Punjab De after Deep Sidhu's death. Papalpreet was believed to be the mastermind of their escape.
By profession, Papalpreet is a journalist based out of Amritsar who runs the website "Punjab Shield", which is essentially a Khalistani propaganda site.
Papalpreet has been advising Amritpal on various issues. The first photos of Papalpreet were seen him driving a motorcycle with Amritpal riding pillion as they managed to escape. Papalpreet Singh was taking instructions from the ISI to raise the bogey of Khalistan in Punjab, officials said. It was on Papalpreet's instruction that Amritpal changed his appearance during their escape.
Papalpreet faces four criminal cases, including one under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and one for the Ajnala police station incident. Papalpreet was served an income tax notice to explain the source of ₹4.48 lakh credited into his account.
The Income Tax notice was recovered from the house of Baljeet Kaur at Shahabad in Kurukshetra in Haryana where Papalpreet and Amritpal had taken shelter on March 19 and 20 before fleeing from there after changing their looks and leaving behind the sacred "Shri Sahib", reports said.

India has asked Britain for increased monitoring of UK-based supporters of a Sikh separatist movement as it accuses them of abusing the asylum system to help "terrorist activities" in the South Asia country.
At a meeting in New Delhi between British and Indian officials, the Indian government said it "conveyed its concerns on the misuse of UK's asylum status by the pro-Khalistani elements to aid and abet terrorist activities in India and requested better cooperation with the UK".
It follows violent scenes at the Indian High Commission in London last month which saw its windows smashed and a Khalistani flag replace India's national flag, also known as the tricolour.
Those behind the protests are believed to be Khalistani supporters, or Sikh separatists, who wish to establish a new breakaway state in Punjab, north India.
India denounced the demonstrations as a "breach of security", while UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly said security at the building would be reviewed following "unacceptable acts of violence" towards staff.
Meanwhile, three officials said on Monday that talks on a free trade agreement between India and Britain have not been suspended and will continue this year.
A report had claimed India "disengaged" from the discussions after the UK failed to condemn Sikh separatists.
Lord Indarjit Singh of the Network of Sikh Organisations told Sky News how the demonstrations outside the high commission were "noisy, ill-tempered and played into the hands of those who seek to smear us [Sikhs] as anti-Indian".
In India, protests are widespread with clashes between Khalistani supporters and police. Prominent separatist leader, Amritpal Singh, remains on the run with many of his supporters arrested.
The Khalistan movement is banned in India, where officials see it and affiliated groups as a national security threat.
Amritpal Singh claims to draw inspiration from Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a Sikh militant leader accused by the Indian government of leading an armed insurgency for Khalistan.
Bhindranwale and his supporters were killed in 1984 when the Indian army stormed the Golden Temple, the holiest shrine in the Sikh religion.

Modi raises embassy security with UK's Sunak after vandalism
Sunak says 'no place for extremism' in UK after India expresses displeasure over Khalistani protestors
Britain should take action after a violent incident during protests outside India's embassy in London last month, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi told British counterpart Rishi Sunak on Thursday.
New Delhi has been upset about protests and vandalism by Sikh separatists - who seek an independent Sikh homeland called Khalistan - outside the Indian High Commission in London and elsewhere in the US and Canada.
In a telephone conversation with Sunak, Modi called for "strong action against anti-India elements" by the British government following the incident, Modi's office said in a statement.
Sunak condemned the incident as "unacceptable violence", his Downing Street office said in a readout of the call.
"He stressed that extremism had no place in the UK and updated on the steps being taken to ensure the security of Indian High Commission staff," Sunak's office added.
UK-India bilateral ties became tense last month when protesters in London with Khalistan banners reportedly removed an Indian flag from the balcony of the High Commission during a protest in which the building's windows were also broken.
British foreign minister James Cleverly had condemned the violence last month but Thursday's call was the first official discussion between Modi and Sunak about the incident.
Both sides also said Modi and Sunak agreed on needing to speed up negotiations for a free trade agreement between Britain and India, which a British newspaper report said this week had stalled over the incident.

Terrorists wherever they hide will be flushed out. I am not surprised you are providing excuses for a terrorist attack.

There are Khalistanis in India, one was on the run recently.
Its not my excuse it was his motive. Do you not think riddling Sikhism's holiest site with bullets wasn't terrorism? Not surprised you support any Hindu violence, whether against Muslims or Sikhs. Please stop, its wrong.

Khalistanis in India didn't vandalise the Indian HC. The one you mentioned is hiding and running like a rat.
Do you think occupying the holiest site of sikhs, storing weapons, killing people there terrorism or not? And removing those terrorists was wrong?
Of the dead, 268 were canadians, 27 brits and only 22 Indians. How were the Canadians or Brits involved? Stop giving excuses for a terrorist attack. Its criminal.

Amritpal Singh's Wife Stopped From Travelling To London, Being Questioned
Police launched a major crackdown last month against Amritpal Singh and the members of his "Waris Punjab De" outfit.
Fugitive Amritpal Singh's wife, Kirandeep Kaur, has been stopped at the Amritsar airport and is being questioned, sources in the Punjab police said. She was at the airport to board a flight to London.
"Amritpal Singh's wife Kirandeep Kaur has not been detained yet. She is being questioned by the Immigration department," Punjab Police source said.
Amritpal Singh, who the government describes as a Khalistani-Pakistan agent, has been active in Punjab for the past few years and is often seen escorted by armed supporters. He claims to be a follower of the Khalistani separatist and terrorist Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and is known as "Bhindranwale 2.0" among his supporters.

Self-styled preacher Amritpal Singh, whose calls for Sikh independence riled India's authorities, has been arrested in Punjab state, police say.
The 30-year-old had been on the run for more than a month after evading arrest in Punjab on 18 March.
He and his supporters have been accused of attempted murder and attacking police officials.
Punjab Police confirmed news of the arrest on Twitter and appealed for peace.
Mr Singh shot to prominence in February after hundreds of his supporters stormed a police station, demanding the release of an arrested aide.
His campaign brought back memories from the 1980s of a separatist insurgency and subsequent crackdown in Punjab in which thousands of people were killed.
The manhunt for Mr Singh spanned several parts of northern India, including the capital Delhi and the states of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Nepal had also put him on its surveillance list at India's request.
