Will Mohammad Amir ever get his old action back?

It has been now 3 years that he is back to playing international cricket...But why isn't his bowling action the same as before the ban? Is this incompetence shown by the management? Or it just isn't possible now for him now to replicate his preban action?

His action is fine, he just can't get his line and length right for a full over. Got out bowled by Yamin which says it all.

    Muhammad Amir has lost it...

Never thought I would say this

Looks more interested in T20 leagues instead of playing for his nation.

Thatís why he has become a defensive bowler which he never was.

    Move on.
In Shaheen,HAsnain and Musa we have a good crop coming up with the best of the lot Nasim Shah still waiting to be exposed to the crickting world add haris Rauf and Arshad Iqbal in the mix we have enough pacers that even if half of them reach their potential we dont have to worry about our pace stocks for a decade.

Let’s just be honest he may perform now and then but he was never as good as we thought. He is a support bowler .

His done and dusted. I’ve personally given up hope on him. He will never be the same bowler he was. It’s a struggle for him these days to even get it beyond 135 kph. Those throat cutting bouncers and inswinging yorkers he bowled in Australia during the 2009 tour will never happen again. He is not a “fast” bowler now.

However, he can still find a way to swing the ball prodigously because his action and seam position are absolutely perfect for swing bowling. He also has good control over swing.

But don’t expect too much from Amir.

His length has been too short for the proper use of the new ball and also his rythm, pace havent been upto the mark lately.

On top of that he looks to be lacking confidence, just needs one spell where he is in full control and he can get his confidence back.

Lol at this thread, He was never that good. That England Series in 2010 has clouted everyone's judgement and even RP Singh looked like a legend when bowling in English conditions.

He was our best bowler in our last test series.

Amir seems to be everybody's favourite punching bag.

Indeed where he operated at 127-130 km/hr for more than 60% of the times. We have very low standards

Right highly exaggerate his pace but I should take your numbers on face value because you are very unbiased on the matter.

Going by your logic Glenn McGrath was useless bowler because he also operated in that range.

The fact is Amir was head and shoulders above any other pacer we played.

At best he is a support bowler who should not open the bowling. His best use is to contain runs in the middle.

Yes, anything under 5 rpo in ODIs and 7 rpo in T20s is a useful contribution. We need opening bowlers who can strike upfront. Clearly, Aamir has failed in that role.

Watch him get to England and swing the ball and win us a game against India or dare I say pick up a few early scalps in the semi final/final...?

I am still hopeful, regardless of his action or decrease in speed (still bowling around that 138-141kph range) I feel he is an incredibly intelligent bowler irrespective of the fact that he is getting swing or not. Even in the current PSL, his economy rate has been pretty good and bowled some good spells.

In addition to that we have seen bowlers like Shinwari (bowling at even 150kph) be extremely expensive. So it is definitely not all about speed. When Amir was given the new ball for the Karachi Kings, I saw a couple early deliveries show some shape in. (watch opening spell to Kamran Akmal - Peshawar Zalmi)

Take him for the England series, and watch him there, that will answer all of your questions, period.

He is a match winner on his day, has the temperament to deliver under pressure which I feel will be crucial in the world cup. All these other names, hasnain, rauf, musa, might be great raw talent but to be a world cup winner you need big match composure which for them is still a work in progress. Amir has seen it all. He is going to be essential in Pakistan's world cup winning chances, should he get elected and you can take that to the bank!
