"This is one of the best innings I've played so I'm very happy" : Babar Azam
Babar Azam at a presser after Pakistan beat NZ:
"I had it in my mind, that I wasn't able to finish games. But my game plan was the same to what it is in every matches. When I was batting with Hafeez bhai and Harry bhai, we planned to take the partnership as deep as possible"
"Pitch was a little slow at the start, but it began to turn later on so it was difficult for us. Myself and Hafeez bhai planned to take less chances against spinners and attack the fast-bowlers"
"After this win, we're all pretty positive. Our bowling started well, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled well then Wahab bhai also bowled well. Then in the batsmen, myself, Hafeez bhai and Haris bhai scored runs. We are thinking match to match, we will focus on our next match for now"
"We're not talking about the 92 World Cup, we are focusing match to match, we have do or die matches and we're focused on giving our best in those"
"If you finish the match and the team wins then that does provide you with a lot of confidence. I think this is one of the best innings I've played so I'm very happy. It was very important for us to win and it was a difficult wicket and Allah helped me to score runs on it"
"My target is to be amongst the top players, I plan to give my 100% and perform. Not perform for myself, but for the team. Not that I should perform individually, I am not happy about that. I am happy when my team wins"
"I was quite confident, I gained confidence after my innings in the last match. Before that, I was getting dismissed in the 40s but in the last game I tried to bat through the innings but I couldn't"
"Hafeez bhai and Harry bhai said that I shouldn't take any chances, if chances need to be taken they will do it"
"When you get so much support, then you enjoy that and it builds your confidence"
"We are feeling positive. Our plan before the South Africa match was to give our 100% in these four matches so we're still thinking about the upcoming 2 matches"
"The dearest thing to me is that we won the match. I will dedicate my hundred to my family and the fans for supporting us"
"I was frustrated about not scoring a hundred, I was getting out in the 40s and 60, 70"
"In the first innings the pitch was quite slow but in the 2nd innings it started turning a lot"
"When Harry bhai came there was some pressure because the ball was turning but he released the pressure. It was because of him that the pressure didn't affect us so much and I continued my innings. He was hitting boundaries whenever he wanted to. Our plan was to go with a RR of 6-7, if we face a couple of dots then we can make up for it in the next over"Last edited by Abdullah719; 27th June 2019 at 03:07.

Totally agree.
I actually enjoyed watching this chase then chasing down a 300 score in flat conditions because this more difficult. It was a do or die match and the wicket more resembled a day 4 Test match.
The Pitch was literally breaking up in front of our eyes. However they rode
The storm beautifully and never let the run rate get too high any stage.
Our Best ODI win since the CT final win 2 years ago.

Not one of the best, but the best. That’s what I wanna see from Babar. Insha’Allah Babar will go on to become our greatest ever batsman. He has very high potential.

It was Babar and Haris show tbh with the bat.Only in Pak you have to deliberately credit Hafeez who was looking like a amateur there.Hafeez bhai did jack but Babar is forced to give him credit

Babar please keep your hunger & desire alive. This is absolutely nothing as compared to what you can potentially achieve in your career. I know you worked extremely hard since the age of 12, special thanks to your cousins (not the akmal bros) who regularly went to nets with you & kept on bowling at you for 6 straight hours daily no matter what the weather was, not even cared what they had to face from their parents. Babar always set extremely high targets for himself & Allah SWT has blessed him with passion & abilities to fulfill his dreams. Please aim at getting 10,000 more runs in next 5 years across all formats with atleast 30 centuries.
A whole generation of PCT fans waited their entire life to see a batsman like you in PCT. May Allah SWT give you more success.

Good innings, would have been better if he didn't try to give his wicket away twice.
And he was dropped on 38 as well.

Grant Flower "Babar Azam is very special. I believe he is going to be one of the best that Pakistan have ever produced. He's really hungry, is fit and still very young. I think he'll have a really good career if he keeps his feet on the ground, which I think he will" #CWC19 pic.twitter.com/CRQMyWv4mL

A great innings by Babar. Lets hope that Haris ALSO shows the mental toughness he showed on Wed, and then we start to have a very tasty middle order in the coming years with them 2.

After the press conference Babar was heading towards the lifts. A few Pakistani journos approached him for selfies - his response in Urdu was why do you want my selfie.
A very likeable and humble lad at the moment.

In Bobby we trust (Harry as well). Honestly we need just one more middle order batsman of their quality and we will be set for atleast 3-4 years.

Was a very good innings. Was at the game and was so tense until the winning runs were hit, and he has a record in chases of playing a few pretty shots and getting out. He had to survive some pretty good bowling but he kept his wicket in tact, and stayed cool. Went all the way against a good bowling line up and in a pressure game. Really happy with this innings.
