You can work it out. But as stated above both Eng & Pak have to win their games by ~250 runs. If Eng beats NZ by 50 runs, then Pak needs to beat BD by 450 runs (although its not strictly linear)

This is because NRR deficit between NZ and PAK is 1.36 NRR (that means per over faced in this world cup NZ have hit 1.36 runs more than PAK.) So if you have to make up that in one game it will be almost impossible (like overall win margin = 500)

The way things are going it could be Ind-NZ semi.

I'm sure a green pitch can be arranged if Eng fancy beating Aus in the other semi. Flat deck in the final and cricket will be coming home again

I am a bit confused. At this point there are two options for Pak fans.
1.Pray that NZ brings their A game and successfully chase 350+ today. It knocks Eng out, Pak beats Bang and makes it to semi.
2.Pray that NZ loses by a huge margin of >200 runs. Then it gives Pak huge advantage in terms of improving their NRR vs Bang.
    What option you will prefer?

With the way pak played vs AFG and IND played with Bangladesh...i would surly go with option 1

Option 2 has same chances for me winning a trillion dollar lottery

They're usually a lot better than this, we just got really unlucky with all our batsmen losing form at the wrong time.

Going into the SFs with 3 straight losses isn't ideal and most will consider the WC a failure despite making the Semis. The team has not played well and got real lucky.

I don't understand why England didn't prepared flat wickets for themselves in the early stage of the tournament. I mean they obviously know they will struggle on slow/spin wickets. Pakistan beat them in CT17 on a spin wicket. Some of the results in this WC seems fishy. At times the points table seems scripted. I always feel the case in IPL. So many last over finishes, unclear status about final 4 teams even so late in the tournament.

however, I believe if england scores around 300-310, NZ will try to chase it with conviction to get a good hang of things.

England came into the tournament thinking they're world beaters. Got a reality check and decided to learn from the other pitch doctors they'd whined about for years.

Can happen if Ind vs Eng final is to be taken place. Otherwise I doubt Aus will loose to SA. I think Eng vs Aus final just before the Ashes would be amazing.

They have too many runs on board for a choke. They might still post a good total.
