Just 5.2 overs bowled on Day 3 due to wet outfield and bad light at Rawalpindi

So a draw looks likely but can something dramatic happen on Day 3?

Hoping to catch atleast 1hr of Pakistani young fast bowling. Indian fans are desperate for competion. I need the old Pakistan where the likes of Wasim, Waqar, Akhtar and Anwar inflict a bit of fear for the Indian fans. Steam rolling every opponent is becoming boring for us.

Well yes but they wouldn't have known that yesterday. Usually whenever there are overs lost they at least plan to start 30 minutes early the next day.

Lol wot? We haven't stream rolled every opponent. Lost a test series each in SA and England, and last won a World Cup 8 years ago. Fans like you are why people make fun of us.

test cricket after a decade in pakistan and you do not have appropriate equipment of enough manpower to take care of the condition of the stadium. In december why would you schedule a man in rawalpindi where you will only get around 70 overs if lucky , why not prepare hyderabad stadium ? PCB has made sure that this test match is ruined. The unprofessionalism and incompetitiveness continues.

I think Hyderabad Stadium is far off from being ready to host international cricket. NSK and Multan are the most likely options for this time of the year.

Then put some work on it , you get half hour of more cricket in hyderabad than multan. In multan too , you wont get 80 overs. Karachi and hyderabad are our best bets for this part of the year.

How can you get grounds ready when there is no cricket being played there to generate money and instead you’re forking out millions on hiring stadiums in the UAE?

I wanna thank PCB for bring cricket back to Pakistan. No rain can stop the great effort they put in.

Pakistanis should be furious. Test cricket after 10 years, horrible choice of test venue. Unacceptable. Pak cricket has been in wrong hands for decades together.

    Bravo

    Lol

    Just abandon the series
Probably costs more than hosting it
And now Azhar will get a free pass if he fails

Feb to March is the window for PSL at the moment. Current home season started a bit late than some of the previous ones (Before 2009) started around Sep, Oct on occasions so PCB can definitely push it back a little.

Its just a coincidence that rain and cloudy days in Rawalpindi exactly fell on test match days and thus causing the issue of light bit earlier than usual along with rain. Days after the test and before the test were decent for cricket.

This match should’ve been played in Multan. Or should’ve been a day nighter.

This is waste of money time and resources.

I’m hoping we get a complete day 4 and 5 with the batting fully tested.

I’m hoping against hope that Fawad plays in Karachi, hoping the media puts pressure on PCB that he plays.

Rawalpindi's inclement weather continued to have the final say, as the third day's play between Sri Lanka and Pakistan ended after less than half an hour of action.

In that time, Sri Lanka moved briskly, from 263/6 to 282/6. Dhananjaya de Silva made 15 of those runs to move within 13 runs of his sixth Test century. But in the larger scheme of things, it meant very little, as time has significantly run out for the Test to produce a result.

Play began belatedly on Friday, 13 December, as it had on the previous day, as the first session was abandoned due to a wet outfield that had taken a significant pounding with all the overnight rain.

It wasn't until past 11:00am that the Sri Lankan team arrived at the ground. Three-quarters of an hour later, the covers were peeled off, and it took an hour and fifteen minutes of painstaking work by the groundstaff to get the pitch and outfield ready for play.

Shaheen Shah Afridi delivered the first ball of the day, continuing his unfinished over from day two, to rousing cheers from the crowd, and de Silva cracked the third ball he faced from him through the covers for four, for the first runs of the morning.

Naseem Shah began proceedings from the other and seemed a lot more potent than Afridi. While the left-arm paceman had largely bowled full and straight without finding much movement in the air or off the deck, Naseem prodigiously swung the ball away from the right-hander and occasionally threatened the outside edge.

None of that, however, stopped de Silva from crunching a boundary in front of square, with an imperious pull. Two balls later, the light meter came out, and the players went in. And it would remain that way for the rest of the day.

It's appalling. I'm sick of fans and ex-players banging on about pace when pace alone is useless if you can't bowl to a plan and hit the right areas.

My mouth waters when I think about how good this bowling partnership of the 2 Shahs could be. At such a young age both of them are international quality bowlers and are leading the attack in this test match.
