They regularly made fun of dictator Musharraf in the show but Musharraf himself was a fan of Moin.

Moin Akhtar was on a different level, could make jokes without having to dive too much into lewdness, also had a more of a social message. Sadly after his demise tharki "comedy" really took off under Umar Sharif (whom Moin kept on the straight in the few comedy stage shows/productions he was in with).
Urdu stage shows weren't that low brow before but they got a lot of their material from Punjabi shows thereafter. Mostly double entendres and cheap laughs.

Urdu Theater and PTV both peaked together to see that golden era and now both are going through the fall

I have seen one episode where he acts as a Bangladeshi Cricket fan and then gets into argument with Anwar Maasoom... I shared it with a lot of friends in India... It was really v v good

I like his imitation of Afghan's and Indian Muslim's. They are totally on the mark as to how those people act

Not the most politically correct (it was a different time) but the episode with Moin Akhtar as Bangladeshi cricketer had me in fits.

Love it, and Love him. May he rest in peace. He's become popular and has gone viral in India for his "abey saale" in the video you posted above.
To add to the ones above, I also loved his impersonation of an overseas Pakistani cab driver.

Cannot understand the hype. It used to air on TV when I was a kid and I always found it pretty lame. Anwar Maqsood with his boring, uninterested demeanour made it unbearable to watch.

Partly agree with the posters above. It is still a good program but a bit overrated. And I am saying this as a big fan of both Moin Akhtar and Anwer Maqsood. Loose talk is a shadow of the truly great comedy shows produced by the duo in the 80s and 90s like studio dhai and ponay teen. The problem for me is that as the first such show on a private channel Anwer Maqsood seems to be under pressure to produce a new episode

* a new episode every week with a new character for 400 weeks rather than 13 episodes like old ptv shows. It is hard to maintain quality over such a long period even for someone like Anwer Maqsood and so the comedy and wit is not as crisp and has more placeholder lines just to make up the time of the episode.

This has been making the rounds on twitter and my parents are fans of his but I've never enjoyed Pakistani comedy, maybe I'm just too American.
