So PML-N is blaming NAB and govt for this. Doesn't this have to do with Shehbaz Sharif's arrest which is bound to happen anytime now as he knows he is caught. One last attempt is to declare that he is now a COVID-19 patient and blame NAB and PMIK for it. Even if he is really COVID-19 positive, doesn't that indicate that it is actually his party members, servants etc who gave it to him, rather than NAB, as the NAB office barely had anyone in there and there were barely any people inside NAB, unlike a a courthouse that always have people around.

One last desperate attempt to be not persecuted, but everyone knows PML-N's bluff. Also, is Khaqan Abbasi, Mariyam Aurangzeb gonna blame NAB and PMIK for their COVId-19 positive result.

Off course its bogus. As soon as he admitted that his family are crooks he was hoping to shift the blame onto them and run off but Shazad Akbar has done a sterling job and nailed him. Its a shame the leader of NAB is a crook who helps to protect these crooks but all the while does nothing.

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has advised PML-N President and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Shehbaz Sharif, to undergo his coronavirus test from Shaukat Khanum Hospital or the Agha Khan Laboratory other than Chughtai Laboratories, reported The News.

NAB sources while rejecting allegations levelled by PML-N leaders that Shehbaz contracted coronavirus during his appearance before NAB’s Combined Investigation Team, said all safety protocols were adopted during the PML-N leader’s appearance.

Moreover, NAB expressed reservations over Shehbaz testing positive for COVID-19 in a single night.

Sources added that Shehbaz was due in an accountability court on Thursday and charges were to be framed against him but it could not happen. They added the whole episode was doubtful and needed an explanation.

PML-N leaders, while addressing a press conference on Thursday, had said Prime Minister Imran Khan and NAB would be held responsible if anything happened to Shehbaz after the party confirmed the former Punjab chief minister tested positive for COVID-19.

PML-N representative Ata Tarar said that despite informing NAB several times that Shehabaz was a cancer survivor and was at risk from COVID-19, he was summoned by the anti-graft body.

"This was a well thought out plan to put the lives of all these people [PML-N leaders] in danger," he said, blaming the 'NAB-Niazi nexus' for putting Sharif at risk of contracting coronavirus.

PML-N leader Azma Bokhari said Shehbaz came back to face everything. "Did Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz not return after the decision was taken [against them]," asked Bokhari.

"Did Shehbaz Sharif not return to the country? He came back to face everything," she added, saying that PM Imran's ego had still not been satisfied.

Bokhari rejected allegations that the party had not taken proper precautions in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that the PML-N had not held any public gathering even when it planned on pushing for protests against the government this year as it considered 2020 the "year of the election".

NAB challenges bail granted to Shahbaz in assets case

LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has opposed the pre-arrest bail granted to Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif in an inquiry of illegal assets against him and requested the Lahore High Court to dismiss the petition of the politician.

A two-judge bench had on June 3 allowed pre-arrest bail to Mr Shahbaz and restrained the NAB from arresting him till June 17. One day before he was granted the bail, a team of the bureau had raided his Model Town residence to arrest him, however, returned unsuccessful after several hours.

As the bench is set to resume its hearing on Wednesday (today), the NAB on Tuesday filed its written reply challenging the bail petition.

The bureau states that petitioner Mr Shahbaz is beneficiary of assets held in the name of his family members and benamidars, who have no sources to acquire such assets.

It alleges that the family members and benamidars of the petitioner received fake foreign remittances of Rs1.218 billion in their personal bank accounts. Apart from the said foreign remittances, Rs375.695 million was laundered by way foreign pay orders, which were deposited with personal bank account of co-suspect Suleman Shahbaz, the son of the petitioner.

The reply further alleges that the petitioner and his family members have managed disappearance of some of their co-suspects (associates/employees) namely Haroon Yousaf Aziz, Ali Ahmad Khan, Syed Muhammad Tahir Naqvi and Muhammad Usman.

It states some of the co-suspects namely Hamza Shahbaz, son of the petitioner, Nisar Ahmad, Qasim Qayum, Rashid Karamat, Masroor Anwar, Fazal Dad Abbasi, Shoaib Qamar, Muhammad Mushtaq (approver), Shahid Rafique (approver) and Aftab Mehmood (approver) were arrested only after hectic efforts.

The reply points out that none of the family members of the petitioner have come up to explain the source of remittances, relation with the remitters or even the recognition of the remitter.

Whereas, the so-called business investors/remitters have categorically denied to have sent the foreign remittances to the family members of the petitioner, which establishes that the petitioner and his co-suspects are involved in money laundering.

The NAB maintains that the petitioner (being beneficiary) and his co-suspect family members failed to justify the claimed sources of funds, which are stated to have been used for acquisition of assets. It says the petitioner himself failed to cooperate with the investigation as he has not provided details of sources of funds for acquiring four properties in London, details of business income and agricultural income and details of benami companies.

The NAB argues that the custody of Mr Shahbaz is warranted with the commission of offences of corruption and corrupt practices as envisaged under the provisions of National Accountability Ordinance 1999 and money laundering as delineated in Anti-Money Laundering Act 2010.

It alleges that the petitioner has been trying to frustrate and hamper the investigation proceedings and there is a likelihood of his fleeing from the country as his one son Suleman has already been declared proclaimed offender due to continuous absconding.

Shehbaz family received Rs1.59b as remittances: NAB

In a recent report, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has alleged that the entire family of the PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif – including his wife, two sons and two daughters – received millions of rupees from abroad as a result of alleged money laundering.

According to the report, Shehbaz family received from abroad remittances mostly in US dollars equivalent to Rs1.59 billion. Shehbaz’s wife Nusrat received $49,680 while his son Suleman Shehbaz received $2,06,996.

Hamza Shehbaz, who is also leader of opposition in the Punjab Assembly, received the highest $2,9 85,648 from 2005 to 2012. Shehbaz Sharif’s daughter Rabia Imran was remitted an amount of $740,680 while another daughter, Javeria Ali, was remitted $283,357.

Shehbaz Sharif, who is also leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, is facing two NAB investigations. NAB, the country’s top graft buster, accuses that Shehbaz owns assets that are more than his known sources of income. It also accuses him and his family members of money laundering.

LHC directs Shahbaz to get tested for Covid from Institute of Public Health

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday extended bail of the Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif and directed him to get his Covid-19 test conducted from the Institute of Public Health (IPH).

They will fake the results. The LHC would not have asked for it, if there was even a small chance that SS would be caught with his pants down.

Shahbaz files plea for exemption from appearance

LAHORE: Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif on Monday filed a civil miscellaneous application before the Lahore High Court seeking exemption from personal appearance in hearing of his pre-arrest bail in assets beyond means investigation by the NAB.

Mr Shahbaz also urged a division bench, which will resume hearing on the bail petition on Tuesday (today), to extend his bail.

On previous hearing, the bench had asked Shahbaz to get his fresh Covid-19 test conducted from Punjab Institute of Public Health Sciences.

In the fresh application filed through counsel Amjad Pervez, Mr Shahbaz said the court had directed the head of the institute to conduct his test. However, he said, unfortunately no one from the institute contacted him for the test but to establish his bonafide he got his test conducted from a private laboratory, which turned negative.

The PML-N president said although he recovered from the Covid-19, he was still undergoing fatigue as he was an old man. He said he had been living in self-isolation at home under the supervision of doctors of Ittefaq Hospital who advised him to undergo multiple tests of corona antibodies.

Mr Shahbaz pleaded that under such circumstances it will be highly risky for him to expose to public place. Therefore, he asked the court to allow him exemption from personal appearance and extend his pre-arrest bail for three weeks.
