This summer’s remaining scheduled international series for England Women (against India and South Africa) and England Men (against Australia) remain postponed with discussions ongoing to understand the best way to reschedule these matches.

Plans are progressing positively for England Women to host a tri-series against India and South Africa. Any Men’s or Women’s rescheduled matches will be played without spectators.

ECB Chief Executive Officer, Tom Harrison, said:

“Confirmation of these matches against Ireland and Pakistan is another important step for our game as we begin to safely stage international cricket again, but also to minimise the impact the Covid-19 pandemic has had, and will continue to have, on cricket at all levels.

“It has taken significant effort and expertise to allow us to reach a position where cricket is now ready and able to return to the field of play from the elite level to recreational cricket.

“We owe a significant debt of gratitude to the players, staff and administrators of the Cricket West Indies, Cricket Ireland, and the Pakistan Cricket Board for their willingness and co-operation to get international cricket back up and running and allow these matches to be staged.

“Sports fans across the world will benefit as international cricket returns to our screens while it will also provide much-needed financial aid at all levels of cricket in England and Wales as we aim to withstand the challenges in front of us.

“It must be reiterated that there is still much work for the ECB and the cricket network to do as we try to plot a path through this pandemic.

“Chief amongst our priorities is to build on our commitment to support and grow women’s cricket and at the elite level discussions continue to progress to determine the best and safest way to host a tri-series against India and South Africa.

“We also continue to explore options for our England Men to play white-ball series against Australia this summer and hope to have news on those series soon.”

Following this update on the international schedule and the confirmation that all future matches will be played without spectators, ticket purchasers for all originally scheduled men’s and women’s international matches will be contacted by the original host venue with information on the options available to them, including refunds.

Still seems unreal we are going to have international cricket featuring Pakistan in a couple of weeks..

Why does ECB never put Pakistan fixtures at Edgbaston? The stadium is 10 min drive from me

True. Even Test cricket reviving with Eng vs WI seems unreal, feels like it has been ages since we last watched international cricket.

Intelligent choice of grounds by the ECB for the test leg of the tour.

They know Pakistan's batting will struggle at Old Trafford and the team as whole won't be as effective outside London.

First test at Old Trafford is a tough task especially considering our record there.

And at Ageas Bowl England has played 3 test matches with 1 draw vs Srl and 2 wins vs India (One innings defeat).

So definitely Pak doesnt have most of its favorite venues this time around but at the end of the day its all about the quality of cricket they can produce.

Pakistan's biggest problem is batting against pace and bounce on faster wickets. Old Trafford is unfortunately the most lively of all the grounds in England.

Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club Media Release

Trent Bridge’s 2020 internationals displaced due to COVID-19

It has today been confirmed that Trent Bridge’s scheduled international matches this summer will no longer take place at the venue.

The home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club had been due to host a Test Match between England and Pakistan starting on 24 August, followed by the host nation’s One-Day International clash against Ireland on 10 September.

With a large amount of cricket displaced during the COVID-19 induced lockdown, and with each touring nation experiencing its own challenges, the revised schedule announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board will see matches played behind closed doors at Emirates Old Trafford and the Ageas Bowl.

Ticket holders will be contacted directly by the club with an offer of refunds or credit in their ticketing accounts to use for international matches at Trent Bridge in 2021.

“We are saddened that this announcement means our loyal audience won’t get to enjoy international cricket with us this year,” says Nottinghamshire Chief Executive Lisa Pursehouse.

“Well attended matches at Trent Bridge are hugely important to our members and to cricket supporters throughout the East Midlands. However, we do understand in the current climate why this decision had to be taken.

“There has been a significant impact on the club as a result of COVID-19 and we are thankful to our members, supporters and partners for their patience and unstinting support during this difficult period.”

Trent Bridge’s next international engagements are scheduled for 2021, with England set to take-on India in a Test Match and Pakistan in a T20 fixture at the venue next summer.

The international schedule for the 2021 season will be confirmed by the ECB at a later date.

The ECB has today announced that the IT20 between England and Pakistan on Monday, 31 August will no longer take place at Sophia Gardens.

With stringent bio-security measures necessary for international cricket this season, the ECB have taken the decision that these measures are to be implemented at a select few international venues across the UK. Therefore, this particular fixture will be relocated from Sophia Gardens to Emirates Old Trafford. The three Vitality IT20s will now take place, behind closed doors, on Friday 28 August, Sunday 30 August and the final match of the tour on Tuesday 1 September.

England have previously won all six of their IT20 games in Cardiff, and the ground has hosted over 40 international fixtures since the 1999 Cricket World Cup. England will be returning to Sophia Gardens twice in 2021 with two white-ball international fixtures scheduled to be held at the stadium.

Ticket holders will be given a choice to either credit their account for a future fixture (to the value of their ticket), or to receive a full refund.

Ticket holders will have until Friday 7 August to inform the Club of their preference, and refunds will begin from Tuesday 7 July to be processed by Monday 31 August.

Hugh Morris, Chief Executive at Glamorgan Cricket, said: “It is undoubtedly disappointing that we cannot host our eagerly-anticipated IT20 between England and Pakistan due to the current public health situation.

“We fully understand and agree with ECB’s decision to host international games in the safest possible environment and look forward to these games capturing the imagination of cricket fans across England and Wales.

“We are delighted to confirm that we are still due to host two white-ball internationals in 2021, so we look forward to providing a warm Welsh welcome to all who wish to watch some of the world’s greatest players here at Sophia Gardens next year .”

Reason being Old Trafford and Ageas Bowl have on-site hotels so it's easier to hold players in a biosecure environment.

Last time round at Old Trafford, we struggled Big Time, I unfortunately see us struggling again this time round. As for Ageas Bowl, we haven't played there in time and don't see us performing there as well. Actually maybe the third test, you might see Pakistan perform somewhat.

By the way reason why matches only in OT and Ageas bowl is that there is a hotel on the ground in both stadiums.
Other stadiums dont have that so have been deemed somewhat less safe for international cricket.

    That's right.

The players etc can leave their hotel room and walk straight into the ground. No need for a bus etc.

Will Pakistan get additional 60 points as 2nd test against Bangladesh doesn't seem to happen in near future or will it remain the same. Pakistan will reach to 3rd on points table if that happen.

Dutch government has banned every sporting event till 1st of September including Eredivisie, so that tour is all but cancelled.

Ireland tour is officially 'postponed' as of now and looks unlikely it will happen in Ireland, but maybe it can be held in England, not sure if that idea is on the table
