Inconsistency. Yasir can be frustrating and brilliant in the same over.

Shane Warne (and Gilly) were such a giants of the game. Not all leggies can be Warne-like.

He is over aged, over weight & unfit, hence I see some people had the guts to pull him down, otherwise in last 6 years, without Yasir how many Tests PAK could have won in and outside Asia could be a research topic.

Fantastic leg spinner, the best of his generation who was drafted at least 6 years later than it should have been, otherwise guy could have been first Pakistani bowler to take 500 Test wickets. In PAK domestics where they play less FC overs than even BD domestics, he was debuted after 270+ FC wickets and probably into his 12th year of FC career, which was punishable crime.

Most people don’t have much clue how a leg spinner works - I give just one clue as food for thought: in his career Yasir has bowled over 80% overs against the wind for a predominantly 3+1 bowling combination, which allowed PCT management to keep their pacers in one piece. I read lots of rubbish about his 1-200 sort of figures ..... in batting innings over 500-600 runs where batting side declared - it only tells me that in a rubbish bowling effort these guy kept bowling tirelessly from one end. Otherwise, when you play three pacers, unless they are rubbish, you don’t expect your leggi to bowl 40% overs in first innings.

@Junaids - I understand he lost the Old Trafford Test in 2016 for his 54-6-213-1 effort in a first innings of 589-8d - there were three other pacers bowling in that innings that including the guy England “fears” - Mohammad Amir ..... what the f*** those three did using the fresh OT track on first two days and why should a leggi bowl 54 overs out of 152, in first innings for a 3+1 combination including 31 overs on day 1 itself?
    Brilliant and in-depth analysis.

Poor Yasir, gets way too much flak from Pakistani fans.
He has won us majority of tests since his debut. Has arguably been a superior bowler than Ajmal.
He's not going to get any younger, and has not been getting many wickets. He would be the first one to admit he is not getting many wickets.

He has bowled tirelessly and selflessly for last 6 years bowling 50-60 overs per match and carrying our bowling lineup almost single handedly in UAE.

He needs confidence and am sure Mushi is providing him that. He may not have the IQ of a genius, but he gives his all and more often than not punches above his weight.

There may be 50 more talented spinners in Pakistan club scene etc than him, but can they match his success? Performing at the highest level is not the cup of everyone's tea.

Folk have been very harsh, he has been playing his first Test after ages and additionally he is a leggie, takes a bit of time to find the rhythm and also adjust to the conditions, confidence is everything. Annoyed he was asked to go wider from the crease though

    From Sky

Yasir Shah very rarely bowls his googly. 94 per cent of his deliveries are leg breaks in Test cricket - only a handful of balls turn the other way.

I have been critical of Yasir but he really has done a good job for us. He has bowled 30 plus overs regularly in a 4 man attack, having the job of trying to keep things tight and being the main wicket taker as well.

The frustration is that he didn't take his fitness seriously, also didn't improve his game too much. Should have worked on his batting and kept working on his fielding as he was a decent fielder when he started international cricket.

Never in the history of pak cricket have we relied on one person to change the fortunes of a match.

Scenario 1: Yasir scores 30 runs and takes 5 wickets giving PAK a win

Scenario 2: Yasir gets our first ball and ends up going for 6 runs an over - ENG win.

    No pressure son.

I can assure you most neutrals and especially the whole of England are grieving for Yasir Shah, a magnificent spell of leg spin bowling; I've never seen quite like it in so many years, he truly is a treasure for Test Cricket and I hope he gets more support from his fans and team captain, it would be a pleasure to watch him have a boql for the next couple of years or so because he is in the twilight of his career, the best leg spinner in the 2010s. You got to admire his resolve and determination to

I told you - 350+ in first innings and game was done. He would have taken a 10for with another 25-35 runs to defend with the hard new ball against English tail. And, had that all-rounder guy not dropped Berbi, Yasir would have taken a 5for in first innings.

Outside yourself and neutrals not many gave him a bit of a chance, I think he had a great Test match but a few things outside his control went against him finishing things off, but he more then did his part

Can't fault him for his efforts.

He bowled some rubbish but you get that with leggies.

Kept going to the end, although not at his best.

He fought to the end with both bat and ball.

Looks a different player when Mushy is around.

Least of the culprits of the defeat.
Will get there if shown more faith in and let him bowl even more.

The real problem is and was the non existing middle order bar babar. Azhar Shafiq and Rizwan all need to be dealt with an iron fist.

Other players in the team need to stand up too

Yasir, Shan and Rizwan (and to some extent Shadab) were the only positives of this Test match.

    Well played Shah jee

Also wasim akram encouraging him to bowl flippers was nice to see

It takes time for leggies to find their rhythm, after about 5 overs in both innings he was bowling a lot better and pitching it just short off a full length and encouraging the drive, Yasir Shah is taken for granted; are there any other promising leggies when it comes to the Test level or ones to look our for ? @MMHS

He will continue to cost more games than he wins.

All but two wickets were from good bowling, he is too reliant on bad shots and luck to get a wicket.
He does not work out batsmen.
Mushtaq please teach a good flipper or googly, currently they are very poor.

Really wanted him to turn into world beater but it aint going to happen.

His leg spinner spun sharply for the 1st time in a long while but the pitch did have a lot of spin. His control is still weak and still too many 4 balls.

A fit Yasir is the MVP of PAK Test team. Only if that guy was ambitious enough, he could have been an Intekhab level batsman and Yasir Shah level leg spinner.
